  1. It's smoke in mirrors. You can't enforce the law under the circumstances without backlash if something goes wrong. So you don't. You just stand there and hope everyone leaves. No one will be identified. No one will be charged. Maybe 1% of the violators caught will be banned. Only the good kids are the ones who will obey these rules. This is the way.

  2. While I am fine with it, although I do commiserate with those that still have underage kids that are no problem, I think enforcement will be an issue. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind there will be shenanigans of the "over 21" person coming in with the kids and then leaving half an hour later or just parking themselves on a bench somewhere and having no idea what the kids are doing. Not necessarily all nefarious in nature, I mean think of Grandma coming in and sitting at the water park or in the shade reading while the kids run around and do their thing. The only way I can see this working is if the parks are prepared to unequivocally ban any disruptive teens AND their chaperones if a problem occurs or they are caught violating the policy. They have to be willing to put in the effort to check and be ruthless when people are caught breaking the rule. Plus it only applies after 4 pm, I can hear it now when a bunch of kids are caught at 5 without their chaperone. The Mom on the phone crying that they were on their way, stuck at work, stuck in traffic, Grandma died, etc, etc. Will they still enact a punishment or give a first time warning? What will the "punishment" be? I mean I applaud the parks for making some attempt to get the behaviors under control, and plenty of people will follow the new rules, however I worked in a school for 28 years and I've heard every excuse story in existence and have seen how people back up their kids even when serious rules are broken.

  3. And now back to present day.... I attended the media day (18/4) that was hosted together with ECC to make a dry-run of the park and the hotel and we had the task of reporting all the things that needed to be fixed before the grand opening.. During the day we got to attend the media pre-launch of Luna, a walk through of Oceana (opening 2024) and Lisebergs family day for the employees, in all a full day at Liseberg As always when it´s a media day at Liseberg it was a beautiful and sunny day. Still things to do before the park is opened... The view and details in the hotel is real top notch I don´t think they could have found a bigger bell.... Even an old carousel inside the hotel for enjoying guests on the rainy days Several conference rooms if you need to have a meeting And the slide in the lobby where kids in all ages and size can enjoy them self... The view from the roof top bar over the park is stunning.. Now on to the media part of the event (and to ride Luna for the first time)..... Going up the lift hill...... ...and going back down again Point of no return... Liseberg has really shoehorned in Luna in the space that is left form Lisebergbanan... All the small details... Back to the car to lighten the load of the backpack... And found a new viewing point from the newly opened parking garage beneath "World of Volvo" The new sign is assembled.. And while we waited for the construction tour of Oceana, we were allowed to stroll in the empty park in the sunny and warm spring weather... The upgraded South entrance of Liseberg Kids in all sizes and ages.... On to the construction tour of Oceana: It´s huge inside.. After that I did walk through the staircase and corridors of the hotel.... And was treated with all the small and big details Liseberg had put in to the hotel. I found this room number and also rooms 217 & 237... And the Liseberg was opened for the employees and families. No water in the harbour.. The Luna observatory: On the last ride of Lisebergbanan the train stalled at the very top of the lift hill and after some faultfinding we was rescued and had to walk the lift hill back to the station... While we waited all the cameras in the train was deployed and we got some nice views of Helix zooooooming by After a couple more rides on Helix it was time to go home.. The hotel looks really good in the dark Someone had already littered the new Liseberg sign with a rental E-scooter And a photo of "World of Volvo" that will open next year.. Luna will be a big compliment for the park and the guest that has something more to ride beside Lisebergbanan before they are big enough to ride Balder, Helix and Valkyria... Big thanks to Liseberg and ECC to arrange this day. Liseberg also released the information that Flumride is in the end of its lifespan and will be replaced with a new in the near future... /// Marcus

  4. It's easier to get a driver's license or state ID at 16, so you can prove you're of age. At 21 year old can chaperone up to ten guests and be no where near them. That should be easy to enforce.

  5. 15 is such a weird cutoff age. In my experience, 13/14 year olds are rarely the problem. 16/17 year olds (sometimes even 18/19) are the REAL problem demographic.

  6. What's the drivers license age in Ohio? Perhaps they chose 16 and over cause those kids can drive themselves so it's slightly less babysitting? Also, I get this, and it's a good idea, but it's frustrating from a parent of a good kid who has gone to parks alone with her friends since the age of 12 and not gotten into trouble!!!

  8. considering that KI was in the news about that 17 year old that snuck in a loaded gun on opening weekend (and was caught hiding in the woods after he ran when getting approached by the Police), I'm a bit surprised they DIDN'T go with "under 18"

  9. Yep, nothing but win right here. The only way it could be better was if the restriction was under 18 instead of 15 and older. Parks should not be used as babysitters. That said, I'm not entirely convinced that all of the problem children from past incidents would have been prohibited by this policy.

  10. Haven't been on here for a while but wanted to send a quick update from KCCI. When they said Flying Viking would be the park's seventh coaster I had to double check... I remember growing up in Iowa when this place only had four! A lot has happened to Adventureland since I moved but it will be a good day when I'm finally able to visit again. Hoping for a successful opening day and 2023 season!
