  1. The amount of appreciation you get from the little things in life is great. Her joy is our deep meaningful joy multiplied. We don't live for ourselves anymore, and life takes on a real purpose. For that, I'll gladly wait in the hour long log flume line to make her happy.

  2. ^ It really is amazing to me how much of an effect becoming a father has had on my patience and understanding. He's not even two years old but we've done Disneyland, Adventureland, SDC, SFGAdv, and maybe one or two other amusement park days. I'm no longer the "go go go get on everything ASAP" guy and now I'm the "take your time, enjoy the day" guy. Even on my honeymoon I wouldn't take an afternoon to just relax, I was too busy trying to see and do everything we could in a limited time. Hindsight is always 20/20 and looking back I wish I was able to better understand the beauty of taking your time.

  4. It's funny how kids change you experience and perspective. We're still go go go and get as much done as you can, but if there's a long line for something the kids want to do that I would normally skip on my own, we do it lol. An hour for the log flume vs 10 minutes for a great coaster? Guess we're waiting for this log ride now lol. But yeah it is nice to have what I would normally consider an average day at a park day turn into a really good day just because I know the kids had a great time and didn't notice or care about little operational annoyances like I do. We also just sit down and chill a lot more with kids than I ever did before, and that's nice, but also maybe I'm just getting old.

  5. Spoiled. Bored. Expecting the perfect trip. Seeing things from a different perspective than other guests. That's where we were. We moved on and had a kid. We don't bitch as much as we used to. The little things don't bother us like they used to. But if you're not happy, don't go. You don't owe the park anything. It's up to them to make you happy.

  6. ^ I can only agree with your statement of Lego coming up with some awesome sets lately. I've been into lego for years, while most of the time I stick to Star Wars as I love it to death I have some sets outside those because they are that good, I have gotten good at restraining myself to buy everything I like but sometimes I have regrets later, like the red roller coaster that came for this one. It also something me and a college share and we even spend time outside work to enjoy this hobby. Also for those interested here are some notable sets I own: 71374 Lego NES (I like Nintendo but don't like the Mario sets). 75192 Millennium Falcon (the most expensive set to date). 75308 R2-D2. 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina. 40346 Legoland park set (Only available at a Legoland theme park). And also 10303 Loop Coaster (I may have missed the red one but I wasn't going to make that mistake twice).

  9. So far not terrible all things considered, VC is my new #1. That roll in the back was the most insane inversion I've seen.

  10. Well these two posts are kind of the whole point. Zach is absolutely correct that at the moment the park is pleasing enough people to not have to make big additions. Billie also has a point and that situation could change at some future point if they have evidence there would be a good enough roi......................time will tell. As I have stated before, I have it on very good authority that the RMC conversion was in the books until the virus that shall not be named hit. I still think they would get the most bang for their buck in guest satisfaction for the short term if they could improve staffing issues. I will be interested to see what if anything the new park President, whoever that poor sod is, does once they get the mantle of command. Anyway we are out of here to warmer climates tomorrow for about 10 days. Plane due to leave at 10 am so we will literally be getting out in the nick of time, fingers crossed. Enjoy arguing and speculating while I'm gone and I hope everyone has a Happy whatever holiday you do or don't celebrate!

  11. This thread is hilarious. Two thoughts. A company offering a product should attempt to please a consumer, more than a consumer should attempt to please the company. What I mean is that these bullshit loyalty claims throughout the industry of "supporting the park," with disregard to product satisfaction is really twisted. Giving to a corporation is not giving to a charity. For example, on a Silver Dollar City Facebook group I watched some lady get destroyed by fanboys because she simply said she wasn't going to renew her passes if the train wasn't operational by next season. She said her family enjoys the train the most. She was shamed for not supporting the park. My second thought, on behalf of parks, is that they also don't owe you anything. Parks are simply offering their product as is and leaving it up to the consumer to make their purchasing decision. They should, and only will please you, if it benefits their profits margin. Companies will change their product depending on current market target trends and profit. A company's goal is return on investment, which usually comes from customer satisfaction resulting in purchasing the product. The bottom line is about your money, not your feelings, despite them being typically related. However, the relationship is much less personable than people want it to be. If you're not satisfied with the product being offered, don't renew your passes. Corporate doesn't take this personal. You have a right to be pissed if you want, but there's really no reason to expect anything other than profit driven decisions. Six Flags Saint Louis is currently pleasing enough guests to justify their decisions to not add new attractions. If they're not pleasing you, there's no need to have blind loyalty. Wait for them to offer a product you want to pay for. Don't pay first and expect your desired product as a result of some false loyalty. That's counterintuitive. As for us, I'd love to not renew our passes this year, but Eve crossed the 36" threshold. There may not be anything new for me, but there's plenty new for her. We'll see.

  12. I hope the park has the bankroll to survive their godawful opening strategy, truly I do, but I'm in Des Moines and have no interest in visiting until Mutagani (at least) is open. I can't imagine anyone is looking to travel to this place as it is now the most remote, inaccessible park in the country. They took the crown from Lagoon.
