  1. This park should really just be year-round. I know they won't do it since they're Cedar Fair but I really wish they'd just grow a pair one year and try something weird like Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Just do 11 - 5 operating days or something in January and February with some special events and run every coaster except for whatever you're refurbing. The average high is 12 degrees above their minimum operating temps even in the dead of winter. I get that occasionally they'll be below that, but rarely. ... that's my pipe dream.

  2. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Carowinds, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. 3. I honestly believe there's another thread for Cirque... in another context. None the less... I just grabbed two VIP tickets to Cirque's (then) First Show in Vancouver ..... Alegria. We first saw it in 2003, their first tour of a show to Vancouver, since causing a huge sensation at our 1986 World`s Fair! I still have the program and tickets for it. But next year, April 22nd, we will be seeing it on David`s and my 50th Anniversary date! It cost me nearly $700 Cdn. for the tix. But it`ll be VIP, with free parking, drinks and nibbles before the show begins,. Free program, too. Even I can`t wait!!! The 2003 programme/program.

  5. Theme Park Review was invited to the first night of Holiday in the Park. We received a hot chocolate cup and s'mores kit when entering. No formal party this year so I didn't get to taste any food. The lights are excellent as usual. I'm not sure if the snow was working yet, we didn't see any in the snow zones. But the snow makers were around the Gleampunk District. The arch that was in DC Universe is now in The Underground. SFMM had a decent amount of entertainment actors roaming in the different areas. A nice touch for sure. S'more fire pits were in their usual spots...near Santa across from the theater, by Justice League, up near Roaring Rapids and Tatsu, and a new location in The Underground. Here's some pics...

  6. Keep in mind that the CGA Hyper was probably "too expensive for the park it's going to" not just too expensive in general. Knott's has a much higher attendance than CGA and I have a feeling Cedar Fair would be much more willing to spend the big bucks at their highest earning park (because it's year round) than at CGA. Just like how they were willing to install Orion at KI. Also, the B&M roar is a choice. Silver Bullet is 100% quiet because it is filled with sand. I am confident that if this hyper or giga happens, in my wildest dreams, it will definitely be filled with sand and be pretty much silent except for rider screams (which I think is the bigger problem). I think your point about them focusing on family and nostalgia lately is a much stronger argument against a hyper/giga. To be honest, I didn't even think HangTime would happen. When Boomerang was announced to be removed, I initially thought it would just be some more family rides or restaurant, etc. But nope, they crammed in their second tallest and second fastest coaster with 5 inversions and a thrilling appeal. Upon interviews at the ride's opening, park officials said "it was time to bring a new thrilling coaster to Knott's" and things like "we focused on families lately, this time we are doing a thrill ride." They know that they have a huge family demographic but they also have a teenage and thrilling demographic. If they can find a way to install a hyper (which I think is much more reasonable and likely... a giga larger than Fury, doubtful) and have it fit well into the area, not disturb the hotel or nearby residents, and have some theming in the station and queue area to tie into the atmosphere, it would be a wild success for the park. Just some of my thoughts.

  7. But it is on the meal plan, and the mac and cheese is super good. The muffin was a nice plus as well.
