Groteslurf
Last week I had to be in Hamburg for work but managed to squeeze in a visit to Heidepark and more. First up was Heidepark on Monday. Leaving at home at approx 8 am, I had a 550 km drive in front of me. Last pic. No cameras allowed inside unfortunately. If you don't understand german, it is difficult to follow what the actors are telling. There are some nice scenes though and a small boatride with a drop of 50 cm or something. That's it. Don't expect some kind of halloween attraction. It's really not scary. On Wednesday evening we visited the Hamburg Dungeon. ^ ^ ^ Random vessels. On Tuesday evening we did a boatride in Hamburg port. Here cruiseship Aida trying to pass us. One more pic of Colossos. There is also a minetrain ride Rafting ride. It is a very spacious park. The new Port Royal hotel which openend a few months ago. Scream, a gyro drop tower. The area where the recordbreaker coaster should come. Since my last visit beginning last year, the heaps of sand where a little bit different but for the rest nothing changed. The SLC again. ^ It has 2 lifts at each side of the station. Mack Bobbahn. ^ ^ And their corkscrew. Heide Park's SLC. End of the ride. Hairtime on the last 3 smaller hills. You could hear the up-stop wheels not only on these last 3 hills but also on the 2 first big hills. Massive airtime on the first 2 hills. The lifthill is quite fast and the first drop is amazing. With Desert Race on the background. ^ ^ It is really an impressive coaster. Zero minutes row : that's how I like it. Next up was Collosos. ^ ^ Compared with Rita QoS, I find Desert Race the better one. Nice trackturn. On the hills there was some nice airtime. The turn at the end of the launch is sudden, but not painful or anything. The launch is quite powerful. And off we were. So about 15 minutes after I drove up the parking lot, I was already taking place in Desert Race. There were no rows. The dispatch op is sitting in this chopper. Desert Race. ... and their raftride. I went immediately to the back of the park to try out the new coaster Desert Race. On my way, took some pics of their swingboat ... Heide Park. Passing Moviepark Germany : a park I will visit in 3 weeks when halloween has started over there. Nearing Top Thrill Dragster speed or ... was I a "G'sengte Sau" ? Once in Germany, it was time to speed up things. To be clear, I was not doing anything illegal. It is legal to drive as hard as you want on certain parts of the german highways. Nrthwnd
Heide Park looks great, with it's coasters and that great looking raft ride. It is one of the Germany parks I am looking forward to on the Europe TPR tour next summer a) if it's on the tour AND b) if I get to do the tour, lol. Thanks for sharing your recent visit there. TheRapidsNerd
Alright!! Rapids and Bobsleds! It's now officially a great TR. I kid, I kid, it's great TR irrespective of rapids and bobsleds...but they don't hurt. Thanks for sharing.
verticalzero
I visited Heide-Park in 2005, it was friendly, clean and can't wait to go back. 190km = 118mph, but taking a photo at the same time is madness.
coasterguy618
Great Photos, I've always wanted to visit Hiede Park. Also, is Desert Race a clone of Rita?
darklingscribe
Looks like it from the photos. I've only been on Rita though so there might be some differences.
Groteslurf
190km = 118mph, but taking a photo at the same time is madness. Not really : I had one hand on the wheel and my eyes on the road while I took those pics. It was as safe as taking a chewing gum while driving Also, is Desert Race a clone of Rita? Looking at the specs of both on rcdb.com, they are not clones. I only rode Rita in the opening year so that's already 2 years ago but I don't remember much airtime moments on Rita. On Desert Race there are 3 nice airtime moments.
coasterguy618
^That doesn't mean its not a clone though.

Groteslurf
What's this ''recordbreaker coaster"?? sounds really amazing. Are there any links where i can see something about this?? It's an old rumor, although it is said that Heidepark has the permits to build it, but as said not much changed on the site since 2 years.
coastercrazed49
There is still a lot of room by Colossus and also a big plot of land behind the Bobsled ride.
Gutterflower
^That doesn't mean its not a clone though. They are not quite clones. the first 2/3 of the rides are identical but DR is slightly different after brake run and the final section into the station is taken at speed its hard to find pictures of the bit after the brakes but in this one of DR you can see the ride drops and then rises before banking off screen http://www.werft72.de/jan/desertrace20070214_2.jpg and on this one of RITA you can see that the ride just coasts round the corner after the final breaks http://gallery.towersalmanac.com/displayimage.php?album=85&pos=
