Erik Johnson Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Yes, we just got back from a great experience from Six Flags over Georgia. Not only were Leanne and I able to get the three remaining credits we needed (Deja-Vu, Mindbender, and Goliath), our friends Darlene and WillMontu were able to clear the park of all 11 credits on their very first visit to the park. I have to thank ParkTrips and CoasterCrazy for joining our group and helping us to have a great time. Ok, onto those pictures. I really think its a perfect coaster, I can see why so many people like it so much. Even though I am new to riding coasters, I always thought this one looked very cool for over 20+ years. Oh yes, Mindbender is my #2 in the park. While Leanne still loves the Superman, she really liked Goliath as well. Yes, Goliath is now my favorite coaster in the park. I also finally got to ride my first hyper. Thanks to Parktrips, we had a Flashpass/Q*bot friend. And boy did we need it that day. 1 down, 3 more to go! While most people go ride Goliath or Superman at park opening, we decided to ride the old mine train. No SFoG visit is complete without meeting the real park mascot. Yeah its true that parking costs $15, but you do get that cool SFoG map as well for free. Very cool, Parktrips decided to come by and join our group. Yeah, waffles are included with our hotel rooms. By the way, say "hi" to Darlene (or just Dar). Well its Saturday morning, and Leanne is not shy of showing her love for her favorite coaster. Maybe we should try to get rid of the King. Hmmmm, this looks interesting. Someone looks to be all ready for the UK trip. Any true coaster enthusiast would bring a laptop full of coaster videos for a road trip. Ok, Six Flags over Georgia is only about 5 hours that way. Anyone who looks at TPR at my house must wear the donkey hat.
CoasterCrazy Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Great pictures! I'm glad that you guys had a great time at SFoG! It was nice meeting some new people from the TPR, I had a lot of fun yesterday. Make sure to let me know the next time you guys come to SFoG! I have no idea what I'm looking at in the Mindbender picture!
Erik Johnson Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Ok, onto more pictures! Yeah, this joke never gets old. Well its official, our first Six Flags season passes. Come on Will, its not a mug shot. Dar loves the Season Pass Center attraction. Well we had to go here to process our passes. Certainly Parktrips friendly food. Mmmmmmm....BBQ! Leanne collects park souvenir cups. No she did not think that Goliath sucked. Batmobile is always cool. Can I count this as a credit in case its still closed in two weeks? See, everyone is really happy. Mindbender does that to people. Leanne may look tired from waiting, but the line actually only took about 10 minutes. Mindbender has a great coaster crew! We all lliked it so much, we decided to get back in line to ride it again.
Erik Johnson Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Ok more pictures! I guess it takes more than bravery to ride Goliath at night. We did come back to this later after the sun fully set as well as two awesome bug filled nighttime Mindbender rides. We all found this to be fun, until the section where the car gets fed back onto the loading platform...OUCH! Oh yeah, we have never done one of these before. We already hit 10 of 11 credits. And Superman had about a 90 minute wait. So we walked around the park. Sam seemed to be really happy to find some company. Well Joe and Anthony had to go, so we were left clueless what to do next. No trip is complete without visiting "The Shrine" Not the best wooden coaster in the park, IMO. Nothing really special, unless it was 30 years ago. Actually Great American Scream Machine was running better as well than our last visit. So what did you all think of "The Ninja"? Not even the "Magic Seat" saved these poor souls. This ride used to be enjoyable, until they repainted it and put on new wheels. It was so freaking hot that day, we needed to cool off by going to watch a show. Ha ha ha! How old are these postcards? No visit to SFoG is complete without a visit to the Monster Plantation. This may have been that kid's very first coaster. Georgia Cyclone moved up to my new favorite wooden coaster, after I was directed to the magic seat. Thanks Parktrips! Even though he has been fired, Mr. Six is still around in the park. It got really hot that day. So hot, that Bugs ended up walking around the park naked. Yeah, yeah, I have to include a few coaster pictures here. Ok, for some reason the restraints on this one really rubbed my ears wrong. Maybe it was the last row. Yeah, there were a ton of Looney Toons characters out in the park.
Erik Johnson Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Ok last batch of pictures! Step 1: Shave (Complete) Step 2: Get a Haircut (Incomplete) I know you missed it. Maybe you can add your own patches via Photoshop! And, for the most part, they seem to enforce the non-smoking rules. Thank you SFoG. Awesome operations, awesome time, great park! Oh yeah, while annoying as it is to have 10,000 of these things bouncing around the park. Gators still rule! Fun, Fun! What's the name of this coaster again? It sounds Japanese. They have to make sure to staple in the people because its a total airtime machine. Goliath through the trees! We did ride it 2 more times, front and back rows. Its about as close I will ever get to filming a POV of Goliath. The hill of doom! Yeah, Sunday morning is about the best time to go visit the park. Leanne ran into some old friends. Yeah, lets go back into the park. Day 2 of our SFoG adventures. Parktrips, I had no idea you had your own place.
KrakenKing Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 They didn't staple me into Goliath... they just came by and pushed down on the restraint a little... but I had about two inches of room between my lap and the lapbar... Yay airtime! Which row did you think was the best? I thought the front was... a lot more floater air.
niiicolaaah Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 WHOA.... It looks like it says "JOE"... seriously... that's freaky!!!!!!
Shockwave Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 ^LOL! Great photos Erik! I really need to get back here someday, it was a pretty nice park. It was certainly worth the crazy drive there and back.
ParkTrips Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 WHOA.... It looks like it says "JOE"... seriously... that's freaky!!!!!! oh hell yea

They did check everything, but they did not slam ours down. Favorite seat? Hmmmm....there is not a bad seat anywhere on the ride. I guess I liked the back row the best, especially for the first drop. Both were really great though.
CoasterCrazy Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I guess I responded too soon to your Photo TR! Thanks for taking the time to post tons of great pictures.
Imhotep Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Awesome pics!! It looks like you guys had a blast. We are heading up there next weekend, It sucks neesh and I missed you guys by a week. Where is the magic seat on Georgia Cyclone by the way?
Erik Johnson Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Last car, first bench. Make sure you sit in that first row of the back car, otherwise you will pay. Ninja used to be the same spot, but I guess not any more. While I did not ride the Ninja "magic seat" this time, others did complain.
KrakenKing Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I rode the Cyclone in the very front seat... it wasn't rough there, plenty of air too
Freefallbestrideever Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Goliath looks sweet hopefully it doesn't get trimmed
zaneymon Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 WHOA.... It looks like it says "JOE"... seriously... that's freaky!!!!!! Im sceard now ANy way grate TR as usaly Erik
DerekRx Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Dude, you look so different unshaven. You almost look like a man! You could trade in your jean jacket for a white blazer and totally be Miami Vice! Glad you had fun and finally got to ride everything. SFOG really is a complete park now with the addition of Goliath, and they still are one of the best in the chain for rides, atmosphere, and operations.

Oh yeah, that seat on the Georgia Cyclone, expect some insane airtime! Especially on the drop where it takes your photo...I think its the fourth drop.
Hattuchili Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Wow, great pictures, Erik. It looks like you had a lot of fun there! I hope I will made it to one of the Six Flags parks, soon! Anyway, when I see that I need to ask you: Do you know my days off? We need to visit another park, soon! --Sören

I shall try to make it sometime to take you back to IOA once the Dragons are finished.
dandaman Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Thanks, Erik. *sigh* Seeing all these other coasters via TPR, really makes me realize there's more to a coaster fan's life than Cedar Point. If only my family actually liked rides...
