dubaidave Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 It looks like I will get an extra day in London when I visit in July, I was wondering if there are any other parks, apart from Chessington and Thorpe that are withing easy distance of London and are worth visiting? thnaks
Lord Kotowa Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 There is Legoland which is ok, but quite expensive to get into. But thats the only one i can think of in the area. You'd get two credits if you went there though.
FLIPDUDE Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Theres alton towers, its quite a long ride there and back, andy ou have to switch trains and a bus, but its a really cool park
dubaidave Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 ^^ Oohh, not that i` a credit whore or anything, but I might give that a try ^ Yeah I am going to Alton Towers later in the trip. Does anyone know if Dreamland at Margate is still open?
rollermonkey Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I wouldn't describe Alton as being 'near' London, though. If you're renting a car, then it isn't so bad. If you are relying on UK public transportation to get you to Alton, ouch. (I had a wee bit of a bad expereince getting from Blackpool to Alton.)
BorisTF Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Does anyone know if Dreamland at Margate is still open?I'm not entirely sure, being July I would have said yes, as they recently acquired a Giant Wheel, which suggests they will be opening, though exact dates I'm not sure of. It may already be open, but I havent been in Margate for a few weeks.
Lord Kotowa Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 It should be open as Coaster Force is going there in June, so it must be open. But it would be worth it i spose, riding the oldest woodie in the UK
dubaidave Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 Thanks for your help guys. I am hiring a car and am going to alton and thorp and blackpool and flamingoland and oakwood and seeing family, so it should be a good couple of weeks. I think I will add Margate by the sounds of it. thanks Again.
dubaidave Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 One last question. How about rotunda at Folkstone? Is there still a coaster there?
nemesis-storm Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 There's also Brighton Pier, not exactly London I know... but if your thinking about Margate, Brighton is a similar distance & Journey time by train.
apollo210 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Isn't Chessington and Thrope close to Paultons? If so they must be close to London!
