jarmor
I decided to drive over to dollywood sunday morning to check out the new additions and the last day of festival of nations. I actually went with a co-worker who was for the sake of better words a bitch the half of the day! I actually had some Tommy & James moments with him but he got over his period when we started riding Thunderhead. Im gonna let the pics speak for themselves! And just for you guys I uploaded three new videos highlighting the day right here! And yeah julie not only did I take a picture w/ the pickle I one up'd ya and ate it too! So there! weeeeeeeeeeeeeee some fly by! so close you can touch it... the only act I saw for festival of nations. They were really good and it was very nice to look at so lets check them out... The fake flyers... dizzy disk is still a fun ride. The ride op was very militant and screaming at anyone who took their hands off the hand thingy it was funny hearing her because she sound like the count from sesame street! one---ah ah haaaa....two---ah ah haaaaa rollin' for jesus! The veggie tales christ coaster! Coasters and christ...it doesnt get better than that! Now in the country fair we have the shooting star...I have never been on it but it looks cool! did I mention it was virtually empty...that pic was taken around 12 noon! One thing I like about craftsman valley is that they have little things like this all over the place. One of the best themed stations I had ever seen...and its not that shabby of a coaster at all! Did I mention the park was virtually empty! I soo wanted to push him in the path of the water right then! daredevil falls...didnt get to ride it because mary sunshine didnt want to get wet, even though it was raining periodically during the day! Suprisenly the only pic I took of timber tower the whole day. I did more video of it so check it out, including a full lenth video of the ride cycle! I wanted to try this attraction but then I thought about pulling my own weight and I ran like hell! This bird is the highlight of this years expansion. Its soo cool and funny! thunderheads first turn around the bear cave near timber tower I couldnt chose between the last pic and this so I posted both lol ahhh...the ever sooo popular thunderhead. That thing flys in the rain! note to self...never try to walk and take pictures! thunderhead gap had a name change already! I think thats a record. But thunder canyon better fits the area...and it was much better fit the area after next years attraction opens! i dont know why but its always raining whenever I go to dollywood! here's mary sunshine! He complained about my driving, asked me if I washed my hands after using the restroom, had the ride op on timber tower release the restraints because he didnt feel his glasses were safe, wanted plastic forks at aunt grannys and sin No TR will be complete w/o starting with a pic of me! neo_swx
Wow a quadruple post, is that a record? Anyway very nice Photo TR and how did you get so lcuky that no one was there. The only time i have seen a park that empty is when i went to Marineland on the last day of the rides being open! Browser went crazy! However hoping that is a record! Can't delete my overposting, so now I'll just have to be happy with looking mighty stupid! Just watched the video of the Bird <- What a great addition! I always think entertainment like that really adds to the atmosphere of a park!
DerekRx
Cool photos. I never realized the kiddie coaster had such stupid plexiglass walls. I guess that's why it took so long for it to open last season, I don't remember them being there when I went last May. Glad you had a good day, despite your James-like friend. Jon Sabo
Note to self: get my a** to DW quickly..lol Great pics. I love the way that park is layed out and the overall theme. I would be shot if I was going to compare it towards a mini-Busch Gardens brain child so I wont..lol (I worked for BGE and BGT for many years and the theming/cleanliness/atmosphere is definately on par with the mega-parks, but with its own unique attitude of fun). Although I have never attended the park, I met Dolly herself a few years ago and noted that she LOVED butterflies. I noticed one flower garden shaped as a butterfly. How many "butterfly" themes are their within the park? This mission, if you choose to accept it, will vault you into coasterdom..lol
cfc
The last time I visited Dollywood was pre-Tennessee Tornado, so it's high time I got back there (thought the coolest ride was Blazing Fury). Daredevil Falls looks great, as does Thunderhead.
Tomizzle For Rizzle
Nice photos Jarvis! Where is the pic of you and your tripod? Sounds like you had a PMSer with you. How did you like Timber Tower?
jarmor
^ here is the tripod pic! Its not fully erected but hey...its there lol! Yeah dude was def on the rag and stuff but its funny you ask how timber tower was...well I absolutely loved the ride and it brings a good mix of thrill levels to the park. But the last ride on it for us when we got on it the ride op was like "who's ready to get wet" and everyone was like uhhhhhh. It was almost mid 50's and I dont know who was actually ready to get wet. Well anyhow the ride started and did the first topple near the bear cave. As it was comming back up to the water side we saw the water rise and lowered...then wham! The water jets completely soaked us! I was sooo glad he got drenched but I was nervous because I had my camera in my pocket which was basically see thru by that time lol! But its a very nice ride, to ride and watch.
