Shavethewhales
It really looks like a suspended coaster to me. The "mystery structure" looks like part of the station. Maybe the fans blow something at the riders (snow?). It would be weird if they are actually building a tunnel around it, but crazier things have happened. The "enclosure" might just be the ride envelope? I know we've seen it on other coaster blueprints.
dstephe9
It could be.. the "tubes" might just be the area the train will be located in and it is suspended. Only the blueprint with the fans makes it look like a tube.. however, the other blueprint gives it a simple layout like a water coaster would have, I would feel it's to simple for a suspended coaster if those two elements are indeed the same elements on the blueprints Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
dstephe9
Also, notice one if the buildings looks fairly large and tall, while the other is shaped more like a restaurant.. dark ride possibly? One other thing you have to remember, theme parks do this a lot, we are so early on the approval processes still that those rides might just be similar to what Dollywood plans to put it.. those might not be the actual attractions at all.. just something with a similar footprint Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
ASE
I'll throw this out there.......we DO know that the new area near it is called Glacier Ridge.......so there IS a possibility the entire expansion could be called that and the rides could fit that theme....so yes, something themed with either snow or ice makes sense. dstephe9
And if this is a multi-year project it can continue to grow.. a lot of these rides might of been in the planning for a while for Nashville.. it was supposed to be 114 acres which is larger than the magic kingdom! Waterparks aren't that large so I'm sure "rides" were being planned for the snow park portion of it. To backup glacier ridge (also announced during Christmas for the new Show Venue) https://trademarks.justia.com/878/10/glacier-87810968.html Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk

Maybe a family invert thats highly themed with an indoor element? (Im serious, nothing shocks me anymore)

jarmor
Isn't firechaser? And wasn't Lightning Rod made without inversions to not shun away families?
Jcoaster
Firechaser perfectly marries thrills with rhe family experience.
dstephe9
Isn't firechaser? And wasn't Lightning Rod made without inversions to not shun away families?LR was but they never called it a family coaster.. Fire Chaser is called a family coaster but doesn't look nearly as daunting to someone who is scared of coasters as the one you posted.. I'm not saying, I wouldn't consider it a family coaster but News 10 did say "enclosed family coaster".. So I'm just curious if Dollywood would consider that a family coaster or not. While Dollywood tries to build rides for the entire family they don't throw the family coaster line around for their bigger coasters and never have.. But hey, we don't even know where 10 news heard "enclosed family coaster" at anyways because they did said none of the talk was about rides Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk Edited March 6, 2018 by dstephe9

Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk The layout and supports in the blueprints are identical to the Vekoma Suspended Family Coaster 453m model https://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mo=10901 Also the blueprints include station and queue buildings which imply that it isn't indoor (unlike the other two large enclosed buildings included in the blueprints). jarmor
Firechaser is taller than these coasters but 10 mph slower. Calling a coaster a "family" coaster is really subjective. This coaster, wholistically, is a family coaster. I mean, their 200ft tall drop tower is considered a "family" attraction.

jarmor
I've seen plenty blueprints that made the track look like a "tube". I think people are reading too much into that. Case in point . . . Edited March 6, 2018 by jarmor

chickenbowl
In fact, you can tell by the blueprints that the ride will have a tunnel after the first drop and will go over a small pond. It doesn't seem that any of this coaster is enclosed except the station. Maybe one of the large buildings has a small coaster inside? I don't know. I agree here.. that's what I'm saying.. is 10 news guessing it's enclosed or where they told it was at the city council meeting? They did say no mention was made about rides so I am personally thinking they are guessing Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk

jarmor
Everyone is guessing it's enclosed and has "fans" on it lol based on that image. I would think if it were enclosed, we wouldn't see a layout, but rather a building in it's place . . .

And based on the scale of the coaster to the building just north of it, whatever's in the building is too small for a coaster or even a DW level darkride (Much smaller than Blazing Fury's show building). dstephe9
I don't think we can accurately say everyone is guessing but u do believe they are.. only folks at the meeting (or wherever those blueprints came from) can say that 100% for sure but I am very curious about the fans.. blowing snow around would be awesome and her snow park idea was an OUTDOOR snow park.
