niiicolaaah Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Niagara Falls, as we all know, is a tourist destination. Families go there to take pictures of the falls, ride the Aerocar, spend a day at Marineland, visit the Hershey Store, and ride the Maid of the Mist for a close up look at the falls. You can also take the kids to Clifton Hill, where they can ride some cool kiddy rides, check out some haunted houses, play at the arcade, and eat at the Rainforest Cafe. This same Clifton Hill, which is the section of Lundy's Lane on the hill by the entrance to the Canadian Maid of the Mist, totally transforms by night. The legal drinking age in Ontario is 19, and over in New York State it's 21. Therefore, 19 and 20 year olds FLOCK to the night clubs and bars on the weekend. There are many hilarious drunks to be seen and experienced. Me and two of my friends went over to the Boston Pizza on Clifton Hill last night for a couple drinks, and ended up wandering around the arcade and checking out random stuff. Our hilarious adventure began at the border, where they questioned me for being a New Yorker in a car full of Pennsylvanians, with Pennsylvania license plates. Apparently I am not allowed to have friends who live in Pennsylvania, lol. Also, Christine forgot she was born in New York state. And the customs lady asked us where we were sleeping that night??? Anyway, on with the pics. And returned to Ontario with the Pile Driver, an awesome ride that I have never seen operating. We were briefly transported to IOA. They didn't have the lights on the falls, so this was the best picture I could take. Then we walked down to the falls themselves, and I took a blurry picture of the casino/hotel area. "Uhh... why did they give me two super skinny straws? Couldn't they have just given me one normal sized straw???" Christine praised Canadian water. The only reason she ever goes to Canada is for the water. It is so good, it even has the power to purify your soul. Aaaaaand Nicole makes a stupid face for the camera. What a surprise. We went to Boston Pizza, where I had the most awesome drink ever. It was just like a Bomb Pop, only with the added deliciousness of vodka. "Guys... can we go to Marineland instead?!" "We're freezing our ears off!" I see the neon signs... we're almost there! This is my super awesome exclusive extreme zoom construction shot of that indoor water park Ha ha, the parking meter takes credit cards!
niiicolaaah Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 Part Two An ACER must have been here!!!! Just kidding!! Hope you guys liked my pics enough to come visit Niagara Falls! Yay... I found a huge ball floating on water! Check out creepy drunk guy in the background! I look pretty evil in this picture. Evil and pale. This guy is gonna haunt my dreams forever. By the way, when I took a flash photo, the flash made the animatronics COME TO LIFE... it was scary as hell! I found an awesome shooting gallery that I just HAD to play with! Ghost Blasters... could be fun, but I'm not paying that much to go on it. lol. The Great Canadian Midway, a huge arcade with a couple interactive dark rides inside it!
dandaman Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Heh. I stayed at that Sheraton 4 years ago. I also remember the Hershey's Store and all the American drunkards.
CoasterCrazy Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Awesome TR!!!!! I went to Canada about 3 years ago, I would like to go back someday. One of my favorite attractions in Canada was the CN Tower, the glass floor is a lot fun to stand on!
PhishyBrewer Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 WOW! I'm sorry, but that's just hot. And I'm not even a member of the NRA.
trustkill22 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I live 45 mins away from Niagra Falls, Canada and assume if you haven't really been there its an awesome place but since I live so close it is the biggest RIP OFF ever. But if you're really intrested in seeing the falls and Clifton Hill and stuff then I guess you might like it but the place is just so cheesy. Oh ya and never eat at Rainforest Cafe. I payed flipping $12 bucks for damn microwavable pogos. And my dad had a soup and when we got it, it ended up having the plastic it was cooked in, in it. It must be different when you live far away because I find it a scum hole but.. Hope Ya had fun in the rip off capital of Ontario.
niiicolaaah Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 ^^Lol Wally, no need to apologize. ^ I live five minutes away from Niagara Falls, and i have lived in this area my entire life. I know what to do and what to stay away from. People around here hang out there all the time, it's pretty much THE night time place to go. I spent a total of $5 Canadian... lol
trustkill22 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Whoa! I guess I just have different thoughts about it then anyone else but looks like you had a good time. Oh ya they have 2 indoor waterparks going there right? Isn't there the one on top of the Sheraton and then theres the Great Wolf Lodge? Just wondering if you knew???
FlyingScooter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Wally's dead right. She is hot with that gun... and without it as well. Girls with guns, are more fun! I've been to the FAlls a few times. I've always liked it better there in the winter. Last time we were there, we ate at the Skylon tower... Two kids meals, two bowls of french onion soup and two side salads, two coffees and two pops=112.00 american.... that hurt.... never again.
307 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 And returned to Ontario with the Pile Driver, an awesome ride that I have never seen operating. It's located at WWE Niagra Falls - and was open for only a couple of weeks, before being shut down by the safety board. It hasn't been up and running since then - and that was a couple of years ago
niiicolaaah Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 ^ it was shut down because they didn't have a permit they needed to operate the ride. Not sure what they exactly needed. You'd think they would have gotten it by now, because as you said, it WAS built a few years ago!! Lol!
Carnage Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 ^ Probably caught up in all sorts of red tape. I'm sure they stepped on some toes not getting the permits. Not to mention the legal/insurance issues they've probably brought on themselves. Who buys a multi-million dollar thrill ride and doesn't look into what steps need to be taken to legally open it? Who knew that a thrill ride requires permits to run.
niiicolaaah Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 Isn't there the one on top of the Sheraton and then theres the Great Wolf Lodge? Just wondering if you knew??? This is the Fallsview indoor water park, the one that is being built on top of a parking garage. Yes there is also a Great Wolf Lodge opening, it's further up the river away from the falls... still probably within walking distance though, but quite a hike. The Fallsview one is like a five minute walk from the overlook to the American falls.
niiicolaaah Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 OK, so I went up to the Hill last night, and there was this huge ferris wheel just chilling. WTF, mate? It didn't have any cars on it yet, but it was still huge, white, and terrifying. Welcome to Clifton Hill, I will be your tour guide for the evening. Whoops, I should have put this photo first. Oh well. That water park is complete, and looks awesome. I think you have to stay in a certain hotel to get in, though. Screw that. My friend Christine can't take night photos. This is me looking scared and pointing at the ferris wheel of doom. It's sooo big. (That's what SHE said.)
niiicolaaah Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 ^That's not innuendo. That's just disturbing.
waterviper Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 ^ Im surprised you didn't cause any traffice accidents or get some creepy drunk dude thinking you were a prost and started talking to you about pricing and what hotel to go to!
niiicolaaah Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 ^ Actually, a couple minutes after we took the picture, some scummy teenager in his crappy red sportscar drove by slowly, so I waved at him. He waved back. Five minutes later he drove up the street in the other direction and honked at us!
waterviper Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 LOL I knew something like that had to of happened with you girls walking the streets!! Look at nicole go!!! Flirtin with a dude driving bye in a car woooo!!!
niiicolaaah Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 Oh puh-lease. I was NOT flirting. The dude was scummy NF-quality. I was just trying to give him a little self-esteem, to think that a chick would actually pay attention to him.
Carnage Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 And yet he was Canadian, and was most likely more attractive then anything you could get in Buffalo.
Nrthwnd Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 ^ Um, who said she said he was Canadian? (Just pointing that out, thankyew very much...)
ParkTrips Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Somehow, Clifton Hill was very close to being awesome, yet bery close to being trashy. That's probably why I enjoyed it more than anything in Canada Nice reports Nicole. Makes me kinda wish I was going to ACE con next week.. then again, I have since come to my senses by the end of this sentance.
Carnage Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 ^^ Well I'm making the assumption based on the fact that she was in Canada. So most likely he was Canadian.
