smallish Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I've been on three b&ms that go upside-down and all the other B&Ms that go upside down seem to have similar drops. Basically, it seems to me like once you've been on one B&M drop, you've been on them all. Are there any b&m looper drops that are different? Sorry if this topic is qhite pointless and maybe it would have been better posting this in the "best drops" thread, but oh well.
pkdcoaster Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Most are similar but some really stand out to me Alpengeist with no lift trim in the back is AWESOME.. big G's Dominator has a great 1st drop (cause of the straight track for lift trim) Raptor also has a uniquely good 1st drop JEFF
Angry_Gumball Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Great Bear at Hershey Park has that spiral before the main drop.
Carnage Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I find it can vary from ride to ride. Though the difference is bigger between ride styles. For instance on Dominator(Batman Knight Flight) I found the front right seat produced a weird feeling. As you hang at the crest of the drop it feels like there's nothing around you. Not quite sure how to explain it. Even inverts I found don't give that same feeling due to the car above your head.
Cerberus Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Katun in the back row has the most amazing first drop of any inverted coaster I've ever ridden! But appart from that.. yeah, BaMs are pretty samey. "All together now! Sing the BaM song! Loop, dive loop, zero g rool, cobra roll, brakes..."
KrazyT Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 "All together now! Sing the BaM song! Loop, dive loop, zero g rool, cobra roll, brakes..." You forgot the interlocking corkscrews!!!!
V2-dude Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 You haven't experianced a true B&M drop until you've been on Medusa West.
viking86 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 The best B&M drop I have experienced can be found on Superman la Attracion de Acero in WBMW Madrid. Its pretty much like a smaller version of the B&M hyper drops, but its still big enough to produce airtime that seems to last forever. The dip at the top of the lift makes the speed going over the edge great in the backseat and the airtime lasts all the way down. Katun also has a good first drop, but from what I can remember its more floater airtime than Superman. Its 2 1/2 years though since I rode Superman so its a bit hard to remember.
CoasterExpert13 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I like Mantis's 1st drop, I think it stands out among others. Also Raptor, Alpengeist, Montu, Incredible Hulk and a host of others.
Freefall Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Nemesis and Dragon Khan also have diffrent drops, i think B+M have more varied drops than any other roller coaster company
verticalzero Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Most of the B&M coasters start off the same way after the lift-hill, a banked drop to a vertical loop. Why not have a 1st drop into a Cobra Roll then a Batwig, Quad interlocking Corkscrew.
timetrial3141592 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Better: A drop into a GIGANTIC Zero G Roll, then a Cobra Roll, Loop, Dive Loop, MCBR, Inclined Loop, Flatspin, airtime hill, helix, some other stuff, Flatspin, and a Zero G Roll at the end.
