arrowfanman
I was talking to a few friends--aparently they knew he was coming for weeks! They said that they cleaned up all of their stations, game areas--they were freaking to put on a good show for him! Which tells me two things. 1) If he still complained after they put on a show like that, then there really is some problems with the park (we already knew that)! 2) That bums me out that his meeting was announced--he didn't get to see how really crappy the park was...he only saw a bit of the crap that leaked through their show. I always read about how Walt Disney would go out into Disneyland with glasses, a hat, and a trenchcoat, to make sure everything is alright, and that he seems like a normal guest, and so they dont try to impress him. I wish this dude would do the same. Believes in large corporate sponsors. Papa Johns is already in the works for every six flags park. If he can get Starbucks to do the same he will. And possibly nextel. And I dont know if has been said or not, but I was speaking with someone who works in foods, and attended the meeting. He claims that the guy didn't just speak of bringing in sponsors--He said that he wanted to completely replace SFMM food service with outside vendors--get food off their backs. Has anyone else heard this? -Jahan "11 dollar cheeseburger" Makanvand. P.S. Supposivly the Papa John's team has already inspected the Pizza vendor in front of Batman, in order to get an idea of how they will set up shop. That was part of the initial Red Zone proposal to stockholders. Apparently when Snyder bought the Redskins, he sold off all the concessions equipment to vendors who now run the concessions at the stadium, and he proposes the same thing in the parks. Of course, as SF's old management said, the concessions are high profit and it would be foolish to split those profits with vendors, but Shapiro and Snyder think they know best... sfmmFREAK
so they are going to fix up sfmm??? if they are, that sounds great! the park has "modest" theming, and it will be great to have a paramount-equal park.
Jew
If they work the deal out right, it makes sense to get some name brand food vendors in the park. Name brand products=more food sold (Panda Express was always the busiest food venue at the park when I worked at the park, despite the ridiculously high prices). Typically when parks make deals with fast food companies, they basically pay the franchise fee and run the operation themselves. I think that is ultimately what will happen at Six Flags parks. Outsourcing wouldn't be new to SFMM: The Lemon Freshers, Sushi, and Fry stand under Superman are all outside vendors IIRC. Another side note as to why SFMM is what it is: Ride Operators at USH and DLR make more than SFMM supervisors.
calcajun
Someone already mentioned above how it currently works. You go in set up your stand and you give SF 40% You hire and train your employees in accordance to six flags rules and regulations.
