waterviper
The cats, either because of sheer boredom or a sense that the end was near, started committed howling, fur-flying mortal sins in plain sight of Mom's meeting. I dont know if you were being sarcastic or not but if you werent, animals are instinctive creatures and mating isn't a mortal sin. If you were being sarcastic then well maybe if the cats were married it wouldn't of been such a mortal sin! Well back on topic. Where I lived in SoCal our street would get flooded from the torrential deluges. The flood pretty much covered the sidewalk and a bit up the grass on our front porch. The park that was nearby had dips in the grass and they would always flood. Kids would always go and swim in it! Dont know how sanitary that was but still did it! PhishyBrewer
No... that's not the ocean, or a lake or a pond... that is the Yolo Bypass. When ever the Sacramento get's to full this is where SOME of the water is sent. The Yolo Bypass is used from growing rice... rice for Budweiser actually. It's owned by Pacific Rice Mills Inc, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch. There is usually little water in the fields. But now it looks like an ocean. And the Sacramento River is still very high. I took these pics this morning driving home from work.
Shockwave
That's a lot of water. And that's a lot of rice going to waste there. So has the rain pretty much stopped now?
Coaster Palooza
Hey Wally, sorry to hear about all the trouble. We had quite a few trees down and standing water around my house. At one point our street was blocked off while they removed a tree. My brother's fence blew down Sunday and he had to get it repaired Monday because they have a pool. Of course it Pissed all day yesterday (Monday) and he did a little make shift fence. I hope he gets some time off work while it isn't raining to fix it. Those winds were so bad along with the rain. I feel your pain.

Yup the worst is over now, but you'll probably be getting higher or staying just as high for a day or so because of all the runnoff.

Guest
I wish some of that rain would make it out here North Texas Remains Tinderbox With Dry, Warm WeatherMan Ticketed For Fire In Ellis County POSTED: 2:07 pm CST January 4, 2006 UPDATED: 9:22 am CST January 5, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas -- Crews managed to contain the last major fire burning in Texas Wednesday night. The West Texas fire in Irion and Reagan counties scorched about 50,000 acres. Nearly 60 fires have spread across the state since Sunday. There were no deaths reported in those fires. Since December, grass fires have killed three people, burned more than 250,000 acres and destroyed at least 250 homes. A "red flag warning" remained in effect Thursday in North Texas, meaning heat, low humidity and wind could allow wildfires to spread quickly. But National Weather Service meteorologist Jesse Moore said an overnight cold front and slightly slower wind speeds prompted the warning to be dropped in other areas. Wind gusts could reach 25 mph in North Texas but were expected to remain between 15 and 20 mph in most other regions, Moore said. Humidity was slightly higher than forecasts earlier in the week but still posed a fire threat when combined with other conditions, he said. "With the low humidities and the winds, there will still continue to be an increased fire danger," he said. http://www.nbc5i.com/news/5843936/detail.html

If I could I would give all the rain away to Texas...well, except what would be good snow pack. And no rain for the village idiot.
