Token Yankee Guy Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I was browsing Microsofts Virtual Earth and I noticed they updated their aerial imagery, and they added this really neat feature which puts all other online aerial maps to shame. And that's Bird's Eye View. The service is completely free and the map will tell you if the area you're looking at has the Bird's Eye feature. some area's don't, but most major cities with a recent aerial image should. Link: http://local.live.com/ Using Bird's Eye, it makes the aerial image twice as better! Typical Aerial Image of SFNE's main st
DATman Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 WOW! How bout a link??? I need to procrastinate on my math HW
Token Yankee Guy Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 ^ Yeah, I quickly realized I forgot the link when I posted, so I included the link in the first post.
Wes Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 The images are kinda old (2001-02 I'd say). DCA doesn't have Tower or Bug's Land, Scream isn't at SFMM, my apartment complex has trees that don't exist now, and my parent's house has a van parked in the front that we sold three years ago. Kinda cool, just wish it was more up to date.
Hattuchili Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Not bad, Craig! I really like that site! I think it is a bit like google earth! --Sören

Thrasher Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Not bad, Craig! I really like that site! I think it is a bit like google earth! --Sören I checked it out. Google Earth is deffinatly easier to use and a lot more visually pleasing. Earth is painful to look at afterall.
DATman Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I actually like this more than google earth, if thye'd both just update their pic's. I have a feeling that google earth will start doing these kinds of pics, and they'll improve it too
Hattuchili Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 WOW, it also works for a few other theme parks, like Disneyland! That is so cool! --Sören
CoasterCrazy Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I think Google Earth is better than Microsofts Virtual Earth! I think it would be awesome if someone could make something like Google Earth that has real time video feed. Current technology probably wouldn't allow it to be done yet.
dandaman Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Was just gonna post this... the Cedar Point B.E.V.'s are awesome! Must have been taken in early November (train storage, crane work, etc.).
CoasterFanatic Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Was just gonna post this... the Cedar Point B.E.V.'s are awesome! Must have been taken in early November (train storage, crane work, etc.). I would guess that the CP BEVs were taken somewhere around February/March. MaxAir is completed but they are still working on the midway next to it. It almost even looks like the concrete is still fresh.
Homer Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 BGT's picture is an old one from 2001 (looks like Rhino Rally was testing or closed ). The one of my house was one from 1999 and in black and white. They really need to update Florida with the birds eye mode...

arrowfanman Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Its really good at helping give an close idea to what a coaster's layout is like, where overhead shots typically lack that third dimension! I cant wait to start crapping out recreations in No Limits with this added info! Thanks for the link!
