ernierocker Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 They realized. They gave credit. The guy who posted the pics had no idea you guys would even care. Soo... Sorry. Just soo you know, it is expected for internet sites that borrow photos, to give credit to where they got the photo. I don't know any legit publication that thinks it is okay to show another person's work without referencing where they got it.
mightbeawannabe Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) *Credit to TPR because they're so ubsessed* Well, at least he edited it at some point to credit us... On Topic: Does anyone remember the aerial photo someone edited every so often to show progress with different colors? I'd like to get a better idea of the progress thus far, if he/she wouldn't mind. Edited December 4, 2010 by mightbeawannabe
chadster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 ^that would be Zingoman. I think he posted he was going to try to get out there this weekend, maybe he will have an update later on.
TXThrillster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 There were a few things I was hoping for in the 50th anniversary as well; a return of the Spee- lunkers, bringing back the original theming (waterfall) and repairing much of the existing theming on the Mine Train, some enhancements to the Log Flumes, SOMETHING in Ft. St, Louis (France) (Can we say perhaps an awesome re imagining of Skull Island?) BUT- this TG overhaul is a pretty big helping of AWESOME- I can't WAIT! Great idea ! I do miss the cave, and all the people in that house on the mine train before that drop ... lol. I remember the spindle top, i was terrified to ride it as a child ... but it looked fun. I miss the Spinnaker as well ... SFOT is still cool, but it has lost alot of its charm over the years.
ericm95 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Saw this photo and thought it was a cool angle (I didn't take this photo all credit goes to CoasterCon.com) Edited December 4, 2010 by ericm95
chadster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 hmmmm, trying to figure out how that pic was taken other than from the road or the backlot area...nice angle indeed.
Thom25 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Amazing angle, thanks for posting. This ride truly looks like it could be epic ! Can't wait for the opening.
ericm95 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 That angle kind of makes it look like a stengel dive. I really need to get out to texas!
TXThrillster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Have these been posted yet? (credit: texcoaster) In that top pick, the 3rd turn, is that enough room to get through? I'm sure they know what they're doing ... it looks awful tight!! I can't wait as well !!
TXThrillster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Saw this photo and thought it was a cool angle (I didn't take this photo I saw it on CoasterGallerys facebook) That is a great shot with the Oil Derrick in the background !! How are people getting back there to get these shots? Employees? Construction crew?
texcoaster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 ^How do you (or in this case, Coaster Galleries) get that shot? You steal it from http://www.coastercon.com/html/giant_c_2.html Whoever is providing pics for coastercon.com obviously has access to the construction site.
ericm95 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 ^Sorry, I'm not taking any credit for that photo. I didn't even know it was from coastercon I saw someone post it on coaster gallerys facebook and wanted to put it on here There fixed! Saw this photo and thought it was a cool angle (I didn't take this photo all credit goes to CoasterCon.com)
texcoaster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Wasn't suggesting you had lifted it... hell, you credited Coaster Galleries when you posted, so I knew you weren't taking credit. I wonder if whoever runs the Coaster Galleries facebook page also posts pics of someone else's physique and claims them as his?
ericm95 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 ^ I'm guessing a lot because I saw people posting chadster's pics and say they took it.
chadster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 wow. From now on, I'm tagging my stuff. May even put tpr's web address on them for giggles. *Edit - I suppose in a way it's an honor, other people stealing your stuff. People steal music because they want/like it, so I will look at this the same way.
rcfreak417 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 http://www.coastercon.com/html/giant_c_16.html It looks like they may have made some of the airtime hills in "that which we do not mention" more compact. I don't ever remember a dive that steep in the magic carpet section.
texcoaster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 http://www.coastercon.com/html/giant_c_16.html It looks like they may have made some of the airtime hills in "that which we do not mention" more compact. I don't ever remember a dive that steep in the magic carpet section. This is a screencap from an old POV on YouTube. Looks a little different in the current version, but not enough to drastically change it, IMHO. ALSO, those old POVs prove that you really can't get a feel for a ride from a video. Lordy, the carpet looks tame in this vid. We all know it was anything but! Ground-level drop right at the beginning of the carpet
texcoaster Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 ^Looking again, it appears that the new pic is taken just on the other side of the place where the screencap was taken. So the shallow dip that was at the beginning of the turn into the carpet now appears to go all the way to the ground.
rcfreak417 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Yeah, if you look at the coaster con picture, the wood on the right side of the picture is where the track used to run. It looks like the track is 10 feet or so lower at that point.
Zingoman Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Hey, someone called for that layout graphic? I haven't posted one because I like to see what's been done in person so I know I'm not putting anything inaccurate on it, but the last few photos that have surfaced over the past month have lead me to keep up to some degree. I don't claim this is all that has been done, but this is all that's been confirmed as of last weekend. The Webcam looks to be showing those gaps are now closed up so the only real section in question is the drop off the midcourse now. I'll post a new one for this weekend tomorrow because I'll be at the park today! Oh, and the photos over at coastercon I'm pretty sure are being taken by Tim Baldwin from ACE and yes, he has access to the site. Lucky guy!
Going for a spin Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Just a note nearly all of the track has been placed. They have only one section left to place.
ericm95 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Seems like mostly all the track is in place. Hopefully we'll see testing soon!
mightbeawannabe Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Why thank you, Zingoman! I have trouble comprehending the new layout, built over the old and unfamiliar one (to me). Those pics really help me put pictures and their locales together.
liftsifter Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 So, will this be like a traditional woodie with ledgers all around, or not?
