Industry Announcements: Double Your Mummy at Universal Studios

Nov. 9th, 2005 -- Universal City, California - Because once is not enough, Universal Studios Hollywood has rolled out the "Double Your Mummy" program at its popular "Revenge of the Mummy - The Ride" roller coaster inviting guests to take a spin on the thrill ride two times in a row for twice the fun.

Coupled with the theme park's "Buy A Day, Get 2006 Free" annual pass, which enables guests to purchase a single days admission ticket at $55 and enjoy a year of authentic Hollywood-themed entertainment, Universal Studios Hollywood is offering guests unlimited reasons to "Double Your Mummy" all year long.

"Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride" is first attraction in history to feature a fusion of threshold technology, high-speed roller coaster engineering, CGI and other movie-based immersive storytelling techniques.

The "Buy A Day, Get 2006 Free" offer is available at all Universal Studios Hollywood ticket booths and online at www.UniversalStudiosHollywood.com, where guests can purchase and print tickets from their own printers and redeem them at the Annual Pass processing center located inside the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Designed to maximize guest convenience with immediately redeemable tickets, Print@Home ticketing enables guests to print tickets at home, bypass the theme park ticket booths and proceed directly to the park's entrance upon arrival.

Additionally, guests may upgrade the 2006 Pass to Universal Studios' Deluxe Annual Pass or Premium Annual Pass, entitling them to enjoy a variety of benefits ranging from discounts at selected restaurants and stores, parking privileges and extended use of the Annual Pass.

The "Double Your Mummy" program runs daily until closing, on weekends until noon and will pause during the busy Thanksgiving, Christmas and summer holiday seasons.

Ugh, does anyone else remember when some of the other parks used to do the "double rides" thing YEARs ago? I know Knott's did it in either the late 1980s or early 1990s and not sure if SFMM ever did it.

All I know is that it turned what should have been a really short couple train wait mid-week on Monty into a REALLY long time.

Yeah, not too sure on this one!

Are the rideops even smart enough to figure out which cars have gone once and which have gone twice?

Oh well, I'll be trying this out pretty soon! I wonder if now the ride will be as long as Florida's?!?

SFMW did Double rides for Spring Break back in 2000 I believe. Kind of an interesting idea to bring back, yet along Mummy. I don't think it's worth riding two times.

I remember doing the double ride thing at Knott's. It really does add to the line and it's only worth it if you're there mid-week and the park it totally dead. If you think Boomerang is bad once try riding it twice in a row!

well, it won't be going on durring the peak places in the season, so I think it should be fun. It's not like the mummy has THAT long of a line anyway. I went the day after it opened, and waited 10 mins for the ride, and it was mid-afternoon

I rode SFMW's Boomerang twice in a row due to non-releasing restraints.

Knotts did it for a while in the mid 90's on a certain day. I didn't like it because it made the lines twice as long!
