kdwil0 Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 As I come from Australia, I am very interested in the design and content of Australian theme parks. My fave is Dreamworld, the biggest and best theme park in all of Oz. But what is a theme park coming to f it has had three failed safety inspections? 1.THE CLAW-A massive swinging pendulum ride that has been built without a rubber bolt (to stop the ride in case of an accident) 2.THE GIANT DROP-Well, it's obvious...a 120m high tower and an 8-person gondola-what do you think? It didn't have enough safety warnings. 3.THE CYCLONE-A multi-thrill roller-coaster that has been found to have been missing a precautionary brake system control. Not happy...
Real Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I see nothing wrong with the 8 person gondola on a 400ft drop ride. If engineered correctly, would be fine.
downunder Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 kdwil0, I would recommend you check out ozcoaster.net (if you don't already) as there are quite a few people on the boards there who know a fair bit about the gold coast parks and could probably enlighten us both about these issues.
Paul_Hollibone Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 These issues don't excist. It seems to be that you like to spread rumors about Dreamworld, your so crazy it's not funny, and this is getting beyond a joke. GET OVER YOURSELF! For 1, not only is it giving you a bad name in the community, but it is also giving our beloved parks a bad name. For crying out loud.
slick Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Dude, coming from someone who works with all of Australia's main tourist destinations, PARTICULARLY Dreamworld, I can tell you now that the filth your spreading is not only a load but can land you in trouble. Do you honestly think that on a normal safety check each morning the engineering team would go "hmm... there's a missing emergency component, maybe we should tell the public?" If you knew anything about premiums and insurance liability claims and whatnot, you'd definitely know the first thing they'd do is shut the ride down. Enough said buddy. EDIT: Why would they use a rubber bolt to stop a ride anyway? I've been on numerous emergency tests and run throughs and on all times I've survived and there was no problem, so stop spreading dribble onto the other respected theme park websites.

maliboomer Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 The Claw, like every single ride in existance, already has a reliable E-Stop mechanism, that would work fine in an emergency. The Giant Drop, like every single ride in existance, has a reliable E-Stop mechanism, that would work fine in an emergency. Cyclone, like every single ride in existance, already has a reliable E-Stop mechanism, that would work fine in an emergency. The owners, like most theme park owners in existance, are realists, and they know their park isn't going to be free from problems. They don't want to be an unsafe park, which they arn't, because if it was, they would lose money. A lot of money, and in the right cirumstances, their freedom. Stop underestimating them, your safety is their top priority.
thunder001 Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Dude, I don't know where you are getting your info from, but you should back up your claims with some proof. Unless you have this proof for the rest of us to view, then your claims remain as stupid and meaningless as your first post on these fourms. There are some people who are on these fourms who work in the Gold Coast parks and know a lot more than you claim to, and have the crediblity to back up their statements on these fourms, so as a rep of Australia on these fourms, please behave yourself.....
djrappa Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I don't know what is funnier, the original post, or when Slick said that he "works with all of Australia's major tourist destinations" LMAO
FlyingScooter Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 hmmmmmm, sounds like DEES to me. Disgruntled Ex-Employee Syndrome.
Paul_Hollibone Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Probably not even old enough to be an employee.
benzo41190 Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 OK, he's new and maybe he doesnt really get that you shouldnt make suff up. So, dont post something unless it is 100% proven or is a just a basic fact. And for everyone else.......yeah he shouldnt have posted this but it doesnt help by making fun of him. I mean you can say that he is wrong, but done be so harsh. Be nice, have fun, and follow rules!
djrappa Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Sorry Benzo, you're missing the little bit of info that he's been doing this for weeks on the R-C forums in Oz. That's probably the reason many have been so harsh.
maliboomer Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Oh, I have to see that. Edit: Kyle dude, you are a total spaz. You must have an OCD or something.
