larrygator Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Guilty Pleasure. Already enjoying the new season of Survivor. Loving the dysfunctionality of the "Brains" tribe.
arby Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I noticed that it started recording on our DVR last night. Unfortunately we were catching up on another series but we'll be watching it this weekend. Hopefully we can stay on top of it this season and not get 4 weeks behind like we did with blood vs. water.
arby Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 We watched it last night. I like the way they have it broken down this season and you're right. The brains tribe is dysfunctional. This should turn out to be a good season.
krakenmaniac Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 YAY Survivor thread!!! I have enjoyed the season thus far. I absolutely love Brice I think he is definitely the best strategic player on Beauty. Also for Brawn I think Woo and Cliff have the best chance of making it far. Woo I think will be the quiet brains and planner of that alliance and Cliff will be the talker and executor. If they work like that, and get some more people in on it post-merge, I think they will be able to go very far. And I have a feeling that this will be another case of Philippines where one tribe looses everything and the last two on that tribe will make it far post-merge, like Malcolm and Denise. Who will those two people be? I don't know, but i really like Spencer, he looks like he can survive the elements and the actual surviving of survivor, I don't know yet but i think he is decent in challenges, and he is smart. But this season could go anywhere at this point. We just have to wait and see!!!
larrygator Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 I was not a fan of Brice so glad he is gone, hoping that juice head cop from New York is the next to go but I don't think that will happen.
805Andrew Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 On the second part of the first episode, if that guy that got voted out (forgot his name) would have kept his mouth shut then the woman who threw the rice in the fire would have gotten voted off. I liked him in the first part of the episode when he got the tribe to vote out that CEO guy, but didn't like him in the second part of the episode where he didn't use his brain. Also he kept his hidden immunity idol at camp, so not only did he waste his opportunity to save himself, but couldn't even take it home with him as a souvenir, and someone else is going to find it at camp. The brain tribe definitely has issues, and who would've expected the Brain tribe to have less brains than the Beauty tribe, lol. This is going to be a fun season to watch.
glouthan Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 ^ The brains are going to have no members left at the merge - they almost lost the challenge again. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Maybe the brawns and the beauty will be the only two tribes left at the merge? I can see a twist coming up...
azza29 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I was not a fan of Brice so glad he is gone, hoping that juice head cop from New York is the next to go but I don't think that will happen. I would've liked to see him in a few more episodes, his comments were always entertaining at least, and he seemed to be pulling his weight around camp. The Brains team is kind of frustrating to watch. Surely J'Tia will be next to go, she has been useless at challenges so far (and for a nuclear scientist I was surprised to see her struggle so much with a puzzle). And she threw their rice in the fire, which isn't going to win anyone popularity points.
gisco Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 The idol Garret? left back at camp before being voted out won't be found. They usually bury it someplace close to camp where they can easily get to it. They don't put it in there things back at camp because it is to easy for people to go through your things. I know they have in past seasons but I'm sure they have learned by now. The cop is playing to hard. He is making to many alliance's. He may go far but I think it will come back to bite him.
gisco Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 The brains tribe is pretty stupid. The smartest thing they have done so far is vote J'tia out. Dumping the rice in the fire was a pretty immature move. Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling that she is a nuclear engineer!
BCTom Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 It goes to show you can be book smart but not socially adept. Not too surprising, really. One thing I don't like, is they don't seem to let these scenarios play out for very long. Why have three tribes like this and then merge after just a few challenges? On a side note, I'm downloading and watching the South Africa version of Survivor, season 5, and it's worth checking out if you want more Survivor in your life.
gisco Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Not impressed with the three tribes either. The Brains tribe is not that smart. The Beauty tribe is not that beautiful. In my opinion it is kind of a bust. They pretty much had to merge after 4 challenges otherwise it could have brought on a situation where there is only two people at tribal and they would have to build fire or something to see who leaves. I know it has happened once before but it sucks for the one person left.
larrygator Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 It is also gets to a point where if one tribe is too small the largest tribe will have half their tribe sitting out a challenge
Divv3k Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm enjoying these three weeks where there's only a four time difference between the UK and the US, means I can watch the show at midnight rather than 1am! This has been a really fun season so far. The brains tribe were shocking, but made for some great TV. J'Tia has to be up there with the worst players ever. Finding myself rooting for Spencer and Sarah, I hope they can both go deep. Was cool how the tribe swap played out - the brains tribe has went from worst to best position in the game. I always say that in a three tribe game that sucking in those early challenges is actually a good thing (as long as you don't get voted out!), look at Denise and Malcolm in season 25 too - they got all the way to the end because these bigger tribes were desperate to take out each other when the merge/switch happened. Fair play to the editors this season too, i was convinced LJ was done when he didn't play his idol last night. I was pleasantly surprised to see Cliff go. Hope the season keeps up this high standard!
BCTom Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Really good episode. I was surprised the idol wasn't played, but I guess you have to gamble a bit in the game and now LJ is in a very good position. I thought the merge was a bit early, but it has made the game much more interesting in a hurry.
larrygator Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 ^I thought LJ would play the idol also and thought he was screwed when he didn't. I was nice to see things fall into place for the Brains but I'm sure they'll screw things up.
gisco Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I thought LJ was a fool not to play his idol too. I think there was a lot of behind the scenes that were not shown to increase the drama. He had to know that he was pretty safe going into tribal council.
gisco Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Wow, Kass is an idiot. She now has no alliance to help protect her. Going from a solid three to nothing is pretty dumb. No one will trust her because she flipped. They will keep her around a while to keep the numbers but vote her off when she becomes to annoying. I'm sure the group that got screwed will help!. As soon as you start playing emotionally you are going to lose. The only way I can see her going a lot deeper into the game is because they keep her around because no one would vote for her in the end.
yankeeman311 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I honestly think Kass has a long-term plan with this. I can't see her ending up like Cochran when he flipped. Kass seems smart enough to realize she's 6th at best in her new group so I truly believe she will flip back and she got Sara out because she was a threat to her game. Everybody has been saying Kass threw away a solid F3 but I'm calling bullshit on that because I think the Brains would've been broken up led by Sara because I don't think the cast would've been stupid enough to let them do that. I know this looks like a terrible move but I think Kass will get out of this mess and do damage control.
gisco Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The only way she will go deep into the game is because she is no threat. Remember Kass is the one when asked by her tribe mate if she was to be voted out, Kass said yes. No one will trust her, they will just use her.
larrygator Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 I'm still waiting for the day that someone flip flops back and forth on a regular basis as the swing vote and lasts until the end and wins. It will happen someday. What's really funny is if J'tai was still playing she probably would have blown it by naming the "other one". I know she was fed up with Sarah but stick together a few more rounds and then get her out. Like Spencer said, welcome to 6th place Kass. Although LJ thinks he secured his place with Tony by covering his back he didn't. LJ thinks Tony will be loyal but Tony will still turn on him before turning on Woo since LJ is playing the game and has the connection with Trish. Tony is around looking ahead and realizing none of these other players will get votes for outplaying him at this point except possibly LJ or Kass. But Kass will only burn more britches with her persona moving forward.
yankeeman311 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 ^The closest person I've ever seen to pulling that off is Cesternino. He flipped on the guys then flipped on Alex and the girls, flipped on Christy then finally got Heidi out. Had Matthew not thrown the final immunity he actually would've gotten away with everything he did. I actually think LJ is playing a better game than Tony with the exception of wasting his idol last episode. He's a lot quieter and doesn't slip nearly as much information as Tony but does just as much damage. He has a strong chance of winning imo. I can definitely see him screwing over Tony in the end or beating him in the finals.
gisco Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 So Kass lasts another week and Spencer has the idol. Thr group of 5 needs to hold it together for another week. If they fracture now I wouldn't doubt Kass making the final.
larrygator Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 So Kass lasts another week and Spencer has the idol. Thr group of 5 needs to hold it together for another week. If they fracture now I wouldn't doubt Kass making the final. I really thought Kass was going to go back, oh well. Still think we are in for a big move next week.
Divv3k Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 How good has this season been?! I don;t necessarily think it was a great move from Tony to take out LJ but it certainly made for some great viewing. I'm trying to figure out if there's any way Tony can win now. I guess it all depends on whether he can get Trish back on board but he's got to take out Spencer soon if he's to make a run at it.
