NAMTABSFGAm Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I searched around a bit and did not see a similar topic so I made this one. What is the best carousel at a park or what is your favorite carousel? I would have to say the Columbia Carousel at Six Flags Great America.
JonnyRCT3 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I don't know if this counts. Cedar Downs provides one of the most entertaining carousel rides. The world needs more of these.

That's the best one out of any park I've ever been to, but I'm not really a big carousel person.
coasterbill Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 This thread is going to be divided into 2 groups... people who say Knoebels and people who have never been to Knoebels. I'll give an honorable mention to the Derby Racer at Rye Playland but Knoebels takes the cake.

I've long had the idea for a double-decker carousel, interesting that it's already been done. Anyway I love any carousel with a real working band organ (preferably well-maintained and in tune). Knoebels' has three. Pretty hard to beat that.
Nrthwnd Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 It was a Three Ring Merry-Go-Round in Toshimaen Park, in Tokyo. The outer ring and an inner ring went one direction, and the middle ring, went the other way! Simple but amazing and scary! It was awesome and Mark/thrillerman1, or Peter/Loefet (I can't remember which one, sorry) knew about it and found it for us. And the rest of the crowd rushed to Toys'R'Us, lol. That was in September, 2007. On the 2011 tour I don't think it was there any more, or not being what it used to be. Not sure. i went to Toys'R'Us instead.... Definitely a unique merry-go-round. First and only one I have been on, like that. They were having a a mini floral display festival when we were there. Some really lovely setting and hanger plants, all over the park. Must go back, some year soon. (o;
YoshiFan Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Gillians Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, NJ. At night they still have it set up where you can grab a ring and if you get the gold ring, you get a free ride.
Mr Stratosphere Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I like any of the carousels that have an arm that you can grab brass rings from. It makes a simple carousel absolutely fun!
