XYZ
XYZ goes to Maui: Part One (Below) XYZ goes to Maui: Part Two (Page 2) XYZ goes to Maui: Part Three (Page 3) PART ONE (Also, a lot of the captions do have a good amount of factual information, so yeah, it can be confusing ) Welcome to Maui! So, this was the place I stayed at for a week. It was stuck in the 1980s and it felt like an old grandma was living here. It also smelled like an old grandma too. The exterior, since you know, this photo was taken outside. In case you want to know where I parked my car... The two islands in the photo are Kahoolawe and Molokini. The big one is Kahoolawe which was bombed for many years by the good ol' Americans and then all the trees were cut down. It is uninhabited, though some weird Hawaiians want to settle on this lifeless rock. The tiny island is Molokini which is where tourists get robbed of their money to see pretty fish that you can see at the beach. This is Larry Ellison’s Island, also called Lanai by uh, everyone. Anyways, Larry Ellison bought this island for some reason, so I call it Larry’s Island. By the way, I like the sunset photo, the thing every single Hawaiian tourist does for some reason… You know what I'm going to say... TAKE THE TUNNEL INTO HEAVEN! See, I changed it by adding “into heaven”, oh never mind. So, this is Lahaina which has a very big chimney that really doesn’t serve much purpose. Anyways, everyone who goes to Maui loves Lahaina so much that they want to marry it, so here’s Lahaina. Warning: Long caption Lahaina has this big tree. Forget the redwoods, this tree is wide not tall. It’s called a Banyan tree which basically is a tree that has branches that stick into the ground and plants more roots down and expands the tree even more. Ignoring the run-on sentence, it’s pretty interesting. This is the only night-time photo I got of it that actually came onto focus. Oh yeah, everything on this photo is one tree, except for those cars back there… I couldn’t get any more nighttime photos of Lahaina, but there will be more Lahaina photos later. Anyways, here’s a big needle called the Iao Needle. It’s basically a beautiful area where Hawaiians killed each other hundreds of years ago. So, there's trees... And more trees... And some trash cans filled with tree corpses… It sure is... purty. (Southern Californians, you SHOULD know this reference.) Yes, more trees! Come on, nobody is that dumb. Oh. More photos of the Iao Needle! Yay! Everyone likes close-up shots. Right? The end of the valley goes to some farms and city stuff. Imagine a good caption here. I lost ideas. If you're really bothered by this caption, PM me. Hawaiians these days... The sign is supposed to say “Area Closed: Do not go beyond this point”. Wait, what are those people doing in the back? Hey, get out of there! There are no waterfalls out there. Tourists these days… Some pretty, pretty stuff. Rocks. END OF PART 1! Please respond so that this trip report gets more popular and thank you for reading all of this. (Also, the Walmart photo is not mine, but it's a public domain image.) Since this is a rather silly photo trip report, if you have any questions about Hawaii, ask me below and I'll answer them. bert425
you should point out that's the ONLY tunnel on the island of Maui. Did you get any pics of the feral cats and Chickens that hang out in the IAO Needle park?. . they were everywhere when we went, and the Park Rangers were feeding them. Seriously, they put out a plate of food and dozens of cats came slinking out of the bushes. I hope you got to go to Tropical Plantations, the Maui Oceanography Institute, or did the Road to Hana. . looking forward to seeing pics of those if you did. It will bring back lots of good memories

This time, there wasn't much of a feral cat problem in Maui, though there were a good amount of chickens roaming around. I went to the Tropical Plantation and the Road to Hana (for the second time) and I have photos of each of these locations that I will show in upcoming updates. bert425
Is part 2 going to have some beach pictures? I hope so too.. tho Maui really only has that one famous Black Sand beach, and some minor beaches (the 7 pools are famous and a well known place, but not really a "beach"). all the most famous Hawaii beaches seem to be on either the Big Island (Black Sand (with Sea Turtles), lava flow beach, Green Sand) or on Oahu (Waikiki Beach, Diamondhead beach). Oahu and the Big Island might have the famous beaches, but I think Maui has better beaches. it's funny, on Maui, we actually didn't swim on a beach, tho we stopped at the black sand/pebble beach on the way to Hana. And we did actually sit on the small strip of beach outside the resort we were at. . .but just didn't swim in the ocean (tho we did at the resort pool NEXT to the ocean. We didn't notice how weird it was until after we left!). we were on Maui for 3 days, and that's the only Island we didn't swim in the ocean on (tho we did swim on both Big Island and on Oahu. . but we HAD to swim on Waikiki beach. . it was on our bucket list. . that and: Going to pearl Harbor, doing the Hula at the Polynesian Cultural Center, Going to the top of Mauna Kea for stargazing, seeing Kilauea with our own eyes, and doing the road to Hana. . . . yeah, our Hawaii trip was a bucket list thing ). can't wait to see more of your pictures! XYZ
PART 2 Rocks. END OF PART 2! Please respond so that this trip... Oh wait, this is the beginning of part 2. Anyways, this is taro plant, a plant that Hawaiians like to plant. They make a billion things out of this stuff including vomit-inducing poi and sickening taro bread. Vampires do not approve this update. But, who cares about vampires anyways? So, someone parked next to my rental car. If you can’t understand photos, I’ll explain it in Klingon: chaH puH cha' tlhIH rap Duj. toH, color, chenmoH, 'ej ghantoH, qaSlaH rap. So, there was this garden thingy tourist trap a few miles from Iao Needle. They had plants... Yeah... This flower is called "Red Fantasy", so the flower must not exist. The garden thingy wanted 5 dollars to see more plants, so I left that money-making device. So, I went to the Maui Tropical Gardens because they have ducks! This must be some rare, exotic plant that can only be grown in this particular plantation! There was some zip lining, though I am cheap and frugal (I shopped at the Walmart in Maui), so I remained as a spectator. Someone needs to clean this roof... This bird is found everywhere in Hawaii or it’s just the same bird following me everywhere. Ducks sniff butts? Hmm, must be the rare duck species: the dog duck. Some pretty, pretty stuff. Weeeeeee! I'm impersonating the GEICO pig, obviously. Hey! Bird, get out. You're ruining my photo of a rock! Want a cheap way to send your friends some postcards? Do these steps: 1. Print this photo out. 2. Put a stamp on it. 3. Mail it to your friend. 4. Pray that it won't get wrinkled. 5. Your friend receives it and is happy. See, cheap way of sending a postcard of a place you probably never went to! Random gazebo. We all love random gazebos! Don't you think this lake is too blue? I blame Stalin, the creator of all the frustrating problems in life. You know it's a common occurrence to pass by man-killing gears... Stare at this photo for 5 more seconds, something might happen, like the photo might eat you. Everything must end in a gift shop... Hey! That other red Impala came back. Seriously, this red Impala parked right there. People these days. Here's Kaanapali Beach. (No, Kaanapali is not a Klingon word) That island way in the back is Molokai, which is famous for nothing! We see you Larry's Island! So, here's a few of Kaanapali's hotels. You're not supposed to touch sea turtles... Oh noes, it is starting to be sunset. Will the sun ever come back up??? Burn, tree, burn! So, there's a swimming pool right next to the beach... This is the Sheraton at Kaanapali. The more you know! PALM TREES! END OF PART 2! Please respond so that this trip report gets more popular and thank you for reading all of this. bert425
did you not do the Tram at the Gardens? I know you said you are cheap -- tho we didn't do the ziplines either -- but if you took the tram, you get out halfway around the plantation, and a young Hawaiian girl whacks open a coconut with a Machete and lets you try the fruit! I asked because I experienced the ocean at Venice Beach/California (was there in the mid 1990ies) as very cold -- in contrast to (little) mediterranean sea -- seen from my European-perspective indeed. The sand in Venice/CA was also very sharp(-edged), compared to the sand in Europe. I don’t know, how it is around the other counties and areas in (Southern-)California with the grid, but in the Venice-Area it was like I said for my taste at least. Fortunately the conditions in “Hawaii” were better you told. ^But to be honest, I just expected this for a so called paradise (Hawaii and the other Isles around there). Anyway, I wanted to go sure and asked you...

XYZ
PART 3 Here it is! The amazing photo of a swimming pool right next to the ocean. Baby palm trees! In case you are lost in a hotel... The front of the Sheraton. The floor was not wet. Some historical stuff that every good hotel needs... Some other buildingy thingys at the Sheraton. Artsy fartsy. NO!!!!! This is blasphemy! Are we in Tomorrowland? If we are, I'm going to be really angry if a full-scale version of the Death Star is not built on top of this building. Anyways, nice view of the mountains. (I guess I need some legit photos on here for this to qualify as a photo trip report.) Beautiful theming. Here's a beautiful photo of a Hawaiian sunset. What! I actually took a photo of the Hawaiian sunset! Man, I really am a stereotypical Hawaiian tourist. I left the Sheraton because the lights turned on. I'm going to assume that this is a dinosaur. Leaves! Fire! I have no tripods. So, I used a bridge as a tripod to take this photo. Gotta use nature! Now, we have our official Tahcemic Hawaiian Disneyland update! Here, we have a beautiful light. Nicely taken care of. This one is a bit dirty. DECLINING BY DEGREES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad Buddha. Winking Buddha. Displeased Buddha. (I'm not Buddhist, so don't burn my house down if this isn't Buddha.) See that cracked glass on the top, center portion of this image? DECLINING BY DEGREES!!!!! In case you are lost in the Hyatt... GHOSTS!!!!! AAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! END OF PART THREE! Please respond so that this trip report gets more popular and thank you for reading all of this.
