larrygator
The following was reported by the Charlotte Osberver yesterday. RCBD reports it is coming from Magic Springs. I didn't realize Magic Springs was losing another coaster. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/01/22/3802802/new-roller-coaster-rides-planned.html New roller coaster, rides planned for Myrtle Beach amusement park By Dawn Bryant The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 The largest amusement park along Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach is upgrading for the summer season by adding four new rides and renaming its oceanfront water park. Family Kingdom Amusement Park, at 300 S. Ocean Boulevard, will debut the Twist ‘n’ Shout Wild Mouse-style steel roller coaster, which officials say offers a different experience than its other, well-known Swamp Fox Wooden Roller Coaster. Also new for this summer: Kite Flyer, a lay-down passenger gondola ride; Flying Tigers and the Frog Hopper. The 13-acre park has about 30 rides. Along the oceanfront, Family Kingdom’s Water Park will now be called Splashes, a name change that officials say better reflects that it is a full-scale water park on two acres. The water park has operated since 1977. The amusement park has operated since 1966 and was originally known as Grand Strand Amusement Park. It was renamed Family Kingdom in 1992 when it was purchased by the Ammons family, which also owns the Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort.
cfc
A new coaster at this park wouldn't hurt--just as long as they keep the Great Pistolero Round-Up shooting dark ride.
cal1br3tto
So that's where that Wild Mouse is going. I will just have to wait to ride it, then (not that I enjoy the Zamperla ones). I'm glad Family Kingdom is doing okay, and I hope to check it out within the next few years so I can ride Swamp Fox.

XYZ
It's not every day that you see a small park adding 4 new rides. It's good to see some new life in Myrtle Beach.

palmerleeberry
"Well, it's about dang tootin' time that park will finally get some new rides. They haven't added a new ride since . . . whatever that new ride was called back then! That's how long it's been!" I've last been to Family Kingdom in the 2008 season (The same season I had my once and only visit to Hard Rock Park) and although as great as the park was at that time I've always felt it could benefited with some new additions and attractions. Having another coaster was a must, plus having three family-fun rides would be extra icing on the cake, but did the park managed to expand or did they cut out some rides to add those three new ones ( gasp!!!). One ride I was hoping they would either cut out or improve was the antique cars. Mind you, I love to drive antique cars, but the track at Family Kingdom is too short (it just loops around the log flume station), and if Family Kingdom could invest some extra $$$, then they could extend the track that goes under and over and around the log flume. And besides, don't they already have an antique car drive that runs around and through the Swamp Fox even though you can't steer it and it's run on electricity? ". . .you are getting sleepy . . . you are getting . . . zzzzzz!"
arby
They put it beside the actual building for Great Pistolera Round-Up where there used to be a maintenance parking lot. I marked the spot with a red box. Here's a shot of it. Two of the new rides, while billed as family rides, are more-so kiddie rides. Adults can ride the third ride by themselves, Kite Flyer. Its location is marked by a green circle on the map above. Here's a partial shot of it. You can see Twist' n' Shout in the background across the swash. The Legendary Swamp Fox Coaster is no longer the 8th best wooden coaster in the USA per the new sign. When you ride it, make sure you keep ALL body parts inside the vehicle. I'm not sure what problems they've had in the past...
