robbalvey
So last week we were focusing on "extreme rides" in Australia, New Zealand and Brazil, now we are expanding the search to ALL South America. Try to help us find things that would make you go "WOW! NO WAY!!!" And we don't mean like roller coasters in theme parks, we mean really OMFG EXTREME rides like SCAD Towers, Bungee jumps off towers or bridges, etc. Totally bizarre theme park rides are "ok", but please don't post something like "X2 at SFMM", because that's not really what we were looking for. Really unique, one-off, bizarre, and totally extreme! Thanks for your help! --Robb Here's a few examples so far...
BeemerBoy
This one-off, ghetto-style water slide at the Buena Vista Lodge in Rincon de la Vieja, Costa Rica.
Brad
This was one of the highlights from my trip to Argentina/Brazil back in 2007. Considering how close you get to the falls (and the deluge of water that constantly hits the boat), it's definitely extreme. (Note that this is a random video on youtube). XII
I'd definetly say that this would qualify. You're bungee jumping into an active Volcano in Chile. http://www.bungee.com/bzapp/volcano/index.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJ7bJ5a1l2k Also continuing with the volcano theme, you can also sandboard down an active volcano in Nicaragua.http://www.madeincentralamerica.net/2011/07/climbing-and-sandboarding-cerro-negro.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1QbXAUtpfA
matteocrepaldi
I know you are looking for rides in South America but I think this might be interesting! It's located in Switzerland, in St. Moritz and it's a natural ice bobsleight course used for the world cup. From December 22nd till March 3rd on week days, if you pay 250 CHF you can ride this once with some experts who drive and brake! From what I've read, the speed is up to 80 mph, and it pulls 4.5 gs in the turns. Here's a video!
robbalvey
We are now on a new hunt! Does anyone know of EXTREME rides or attractions located in South Korea? We know about the Woobang Tower Jump, but anything else you have seen or heard of? Thank you!
Hercules
This zipline is pretty nuts: http://ziprider.com/rides/jeong-seon/#prettyPhoto
Aceattack52
Those pedal-powered monorails look like a ton of fun. I haven't had the chance to ride the new zip line at Camelback (http://www.cbkmountainadventures.com/), which looks like a lot of fun too. I put the Camelback video below too, if you're interested. They call it the "Zip Flyer"
DirkFunk
While it certainly stretches the definition of "ride", probably the most dangerous activity one can pay money with no prior experience to embark on is the tandem BASE experence in Moab, UT. Specifically in South Korea, CheongPung Land would appear to have most adventure needs covered; bungee, skycoaster, zipline, reverse bungee. http://www.bigbungee.com/
downunder
The SCAD tower in Denmark tops my list. The first step on Skyjump in Vegas is a doosie. A few more in Aust: diving with the sharks without a cage at Sea World, the Toboggan run at Jamberoo (it's really easy to fly off that one), Vomitron on the Gold Coast.
