MayTheGForceBeWithYou Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 ^^Ski areas aren't getting extra business because Blizzard Beach in Florida is themed to one. Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii isn't getting more surfers because a lot of slides are named after it. Likewise, a mat racer named after a hill won't make people go to said hill.
XYZ Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Lol. Maybe it will boost tourism for New Zealand? Â Â Perhaps they can name the slide after the full name of the hill: Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu Mat Racer.
Gav Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Awesome news! Looks like a clone of the one at Splashtown. I much prefer the 360 degree helixes on Octopus racers, but still awesome! I reckon this one looks more interesting because you need more skill to follow through the S-Bend, rather than just leaning the same way through a 360.
_koppen Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Not much, but construction has started. Source
jray21 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Any more progress. It's been 20 days. It's not SFMM, so there has to have been at least one shovelful moved.
_koppen Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Here's a fresh photo, but still not that interesting. Source
jedimaster1227 Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Looking good! Can't wait to see more progress on this park!
_koppen Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) For the aquatic fans the wait is almost over, but the ride is now going up! Â It can also be seen in here: Â Source Edited April 12, 2014 by jedimaster1227
_koppen Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 The ride is done, and only the things around it remains. Looks like an awesome addition! Â Video here
_koppen Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Here's a nice, weird, photo from the side. Proslide always does a great work with the supports of their mat racers, and this one is no exception! Source
jedimaster1227 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 It is interesting to see the launch and turnaround for this mat racer face the opposite direction of the downhill portion of the ride, since it seemed like this was going to be a clone of the model installed at Orlando's Aquatica. Either way, it will definitely be a solid addition to what appears to be a fantastic park!
Jew Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I'm really excited to come back this summer and see what year 2 has in store. Aside from the new slide, will be interesting to see how operations are and how the plants have grown in to really sell that tropical feel.
