simon8899
It was a foggy day to visit the city but the gloomy atmosphere made the carnivals lights stand out even more. foggy day at the harbour - after a quick bite and drink at the local brewery it's only one subway station to St. Pauli and here we are... Once a year I have to do the 1952 Siemens Rotor! From the elevated Rotor platform the view over the Schwarzkopf Tilt-A-Whirl and 55 meter ferris wheel "poeple sticking like flies to the wall" - the Rotor was one of the first new rides built after WWII we kidnapped this guy from Munich! Frisbee by showmen Robrahn is a frequent visitor Bumper Cars - as they should be without seatbelts, lapbars, etc happy riders getting shaked Loops in the fog Frisbee in the fog Why am I mostly the only rider with the arms high in air going through the loops? Inverting Afterburner by Technical Park is up next! Sky Rocker runs on a great manual program offering great upside-down hangtime
simon8899
Somehow hit the wrong button - instead of posting another picture I posted the message.... After some years a HUSS Flipper was here again there can't be enough bumper cars on German carnivals And every few meters the cause and solution for all problems is calling: BEER

australianalex
Germany gets the best traveling coasters. Traveling Schwarzkopfs... mmmm.... Here the best traveling coaster we get is a Zamperla Spinner.
Baffles
Great pics - love the lights and the fog!
Brassinthegrass
I know want pictures of every park in the world in the fog. Amazing photos!
simon8899
Traveling Schwarzkopfs Many Schwarzkopf coasters were designed to be portable as they were first ordered by showmen like Barth or Bruch: Looping Star, Silverarrow, Double-Loop, Triple-Loop, Thriller, Oympia, Katapult. Not to mention all the older portable models like Wildcat and Jet Star. Don't really know why US portable rides are mostly small - if it wouldn't be profitable German showmen won't haul all the big rides.
alexinla
Don't really know why US portable rides are mostly small - if it wouldn't be profitable German showmen won't haul all the big rides. It probably has to do with transportation costs as the U.S. is slightly(lol) bigger when compared to Germany
Jew
We charge a ridiculous amount of money for oversize trailers in the U.S.---it's not feasible for a show to haul a big ride here. Plus, instead of independent midways like the rest of world, most of the large fairs in the U.S. are contracted to certain showmen to do the entire midway. No competition! Toasty82
Great pictures! From the elevated Rotor platform the view over the Schwarzkopf Tilt-A-Whirl and ... "Viva Mexico" is made by MACK, not Schwarzkopf.
simon8899
^^ The larger rides here are also moved over longer distances by train. The country size is of course a valid point - even from Hamburg to Munich you can go by train/truck during one night.
peptoabysmal
I'm going in two weeks. The website says Olympia Looping is there, but from these pictures that doesn't seem to be the case. Can you confirm?
simon8899
Only the Double-Loop is here. Oly was in Bremen till two weeks ago.
Trevannosaurus Rex
I had no idea the Rotor was that old. You'd never get that impression actually riding the thing! So well maintained. Great pictures!
Jew
We have one show that goes by train: Strates Shows in the midwest. They have the only HUSS Top Spin in the U.S. Some of the fairgrounds they go to have built railroad spurs for them, but that is not common. peptoabysmal
Went on Teststrecke on Saturday, it was awesome! I was surprised that it was only €4 to ride it, when most other rides cost €4.50.
