pgathriller
I was thinking for once. Some rides run on gas and since the price of gas is sky rocketing, is it effecting theme parks in any way? Are the Tin Lizzies at PGA gasoline powered? If they are, this would be one of the rides that would be a pain and would raise maintanence costs every year. I'm pretty sure that the gas prices are really hurting traveling carnivals in some way. They have to pay to keep there trucks going and there power generators operating. I would hate to see this happening but due the high gas prices maybe you will see some rides disapearing in parks like the Tin Lizzies (If they are gasoline powered). What are your opinions? Sir Clinksalot
From what I saw at Disney last night, and Knott's today ... I would have to say no. I would love for this to be the case when we go on our East Coast trip soon.
MagnumForce
When paying 11 dollars to park, 3 dollars for a bottle of pop, 8 dollars for a buger and fries and 25 dollars for a tshirt, 5 dollars extra on a tank of gas doesn't make much difference. Spideyfreak
I heard most of the fire effects have been turned off on Universal Orlando's rides.
tinhead
It might not affect american parks but here in the Uk we are paying £1.00 or $1.75 a litre for gas now, so it might be a problem for some of our parks.
CoasterFanatic
I have yet to cancel any of my plans, and I am willing to bet that I drive further to most parks than about the other 95% of it's guests.

Absolutely, i wish we had the prices for petrol the US have! I doubt it would cause that much of a problem to parks would it?
Meteornotes
I'm thinking for this year, no, as the season was pretty much over when we had the huge price spike. Next year if the prices remain high or go up even more, you might see a difference. I'm sure Six Flags is already putting "high gas prices" in as a reason for no profit in their next five annual reports... dt
tinhead
I doubt it would cause that much of a problem to parks would it? I think that some parks may have a drop in visitors who have to travel far to the parks as it costs around £60 now to fill a car with gas. For example if i want to go to Blackpool with my girlfriend, a day in that park will now cost us £120 inc entry. FlyingScooter
I don't think the higher prices effect carnivals much. Their trucks and generators run on diesel, and at least in the US, that has been running higher than regular unleaded for years and wasn't seriously effected this last hike. Another thing to keep in mind: If they pay extra, that's just more for them to write-off as an operating expense.
JT3000
I heard most of the fire effects have been turned off on Universal Orlando's rides. Spider-Man's fireball, the fire on Jaws's water and the torches on Mummy have all been turned off.
Orient_Express
I thought the fire effects at universal studios were done with propane.
