swiver Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Not sure that it'll bring any more tourism than there already is to the Dominican Republic, but I'm sure a lot of people that are already visiting will stop by. And hey, another amusement park is always a good thing. I wonder if there are any coasters planned for this park...?
Port Aventura Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 http://www.amodominicana.com/2011/11/extreme-construira-en-punta-cana-un-parque-de-diversiones-mas-moderno-de-toda-america/ I read the new in spanish and in general says: 1,000,000 square meters An indoor ski slope Swimming pool of 26000 square meter, with 46 differents waves (surfing championships) Formula 1 simulator A big amphitheater Robotic ? rollercoaster Big disco The offical presentation will be in february march 2012, and one year after the presentation wants to open the doors.
SharkTums Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I don't understand why we haven't seen more of those indoor ski slopes show up, hopefully this goes ahead as scheduled.
Meteornotes Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 ^Yes, I also thought there would be more of those indoor skiing places built by now. Hopefully this will get built. dt
-Edge of Beast- Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Well. This is an interesting idea. It won't follow through from what I'm thinking, however.
Masquerade Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 As long as they don't make a "Merengue: The Ride." Oye Santo Domingo...
gisco Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Sounds more like an entertainment center than an theme park. Edited December 4, 2011 by gisco
larrygator Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 ^Sure sounds that way, but the water parks sounds like it will have a few rides. I guess the name of the company Extrme made me expect more.
-Edge of Beast- Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 ^ Judging from that name I wouldn't expect much. And whenever I think of Dominican Republic I think of poverty and dirtiness, might just be me, but I'm not sure. If it follows through maybe it might be good, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Rosso Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Punta Cana is one of the premier vacation spots in the entire Caribbean. Several of my co-workers go there every year and consistently impressed with area. : ) http://www.iberostar.com/EN/Punta-Cana-hotels/Iberostar-Dominicana.html This is prime spot for theme park surprised this hasn't been done sooner.
