ericm95
-May 1974 John and Mary Ewell always dreamed of opening an amusement park that everyone could enjoy. Once they moved to Sacramento in late 1973, they came across a 200 acre plot of land along the river. They knew this was it, so they quickly purchased the land, got loans and permits, and started building immediately in May 1974. The park opened a year later to okay reviews. There was no roller coaster in the park so there wasn't that big of a draw to the park. After only one season, the park was shut down. It was abandoned and became a local hangout for teenagers. In late 1976, multi-millionaire David Washington visited the park. He saw loads of potential so he purchased it and started rebuilding the park in 1978. He took pictures of his visit in 1976 The original owners loved the architecture of Disneyland so they wanted to carry that into the park. The Main Street area, is small, but does the job. And carrys that same Disney Main Street Architecture. Another building within the park. The park is almost done with it's transformation, which includes two new roller coasters! One of which is: Go 0-55mph in 4 seconds, through a loop and do it all backwards on Sasquatch! Built by Anton Schwarzkopf, the ride will definitely be a big crowd drawer! The other coaster, is Rivercat, which is the star of the park! Rivercat sends you flying around the mountainous terrain, before taking a climatic 50ft drop over the river! It is May 31st, 1981. The park opens in 5 days, which I am very excited for! The park released another teaser of the park! More soon! ****************************************************************** For those wondering, I am still working on Waterbury, for now this is the main park I'm working on. But expect Waterbury's return in the future. Comments/Feedback is appreciated Edited January 23, 2012 by ericm95

ericm95
This looks great, can't wait to see more! Thanks! This park looks amazing already, Sasquatch and Rivercat look good, and I could see a Windseeker coming to this park! Thanks! Well that's going to have to wait 30 years ************************************************************************************************ June 5th, 1981. Today was the Grand Re-Opening of Riverfront Amusement Park. And boy, was it crowded. I ended up getting on Rivercat twice. And the airtime in the back seat is OMFG good! Well let's got onto the pictures. It was very crowded today, people were coming in by the busloads. After you enter, the first thing you see is the Guest Services building. It looks very nice after a fresh new paint job. On the other side of Main Street you have the Riverfront Emporium, and The Tower Cafe. Then right at the end you see the park's "icon" I guess? Chute for the Skies! I ran right to Rivercat. And the airtime on this thing is amazing! Roaring into the brake run! I grabbed a quick bite to eat at this rustic snack bar. Then I headed to the park's other coaster, Sasquatch. It had about a 45 minute wait. The launch is definitely the best part! It catches you off guard. I did take some pictures on the ride though. Launch! And into the loop! To close part 1 of my trip report. Here's a picuture I got of Rivercat while on my family's boat. Part 2 is coming soon! **************************************************************************** Comments/Feedback is appreciated!

ericm95
This looks awesome. Way better than your other parks Thanks! Awesome park. I love the supports on the shuttle loop. Thanks! ********************************************************** July 31st, 1981. Welcome to part 2 of my season one reports of Riverfront Amusement Park! I have visited that park a couple times since opening. But this is the first time I took pictures. I decided to go on Galaxy first, it had a hefty line, it is a puke machine! Galaxy doing its thing. I decided to skip Sasquatch today as it had an hour wait. Right now it's the parks only inversion, I wonder when that will change? Enjoy your fall! I headed over to the other side of the park and hit Lakeside Scatabout, I love these types of rides! Now probably the moment you've all been waiting for, I got my hands on some overview shots of Rivercat. I can't tell you how though. Here's the first part of the ride. After you get to the terrain part of the coaster, also my favorite part of the ride! The ride is great! Also, the park has been so successful so far, there have been rumors of a new attraction in the works for next year. Here is the 1981 park map. ****************************************************************** 2 Weeks Later. August 14th, 2011. Today is the last day of operation, and as I parked I saw bulldozers and crates sitting in the overflow lot. Strange? And as I was walking toward Rivercat, I saw land clearing. Looks like a new attraction is on the way! I wonder what it is.... More soon! ****************************************************************** Comments/Feedback is appreciated! tdub96
Hmmm...never saw this thread before, and its actually quite good. Some quality RCT3, and you know thats a compliment coming from me cuz I hate that game. The map is a really creative, nice touch to the timeline. griffonj2022
That park map is something no one has ever thought to do and it's perfect! Mind if I steal the idea for another time? Anyways, this project is great. I cannot wait to see how the park grows and develops over the years. With this type of park, you could definitely do some incredible attractions using the landscape! Keep up the excellent work!

Thanks! And of course you can! I claim no rights to making park maps *************************************************************************** Riverfront Amusement Park announces an all new family attraction! Swashbuckler! Manufactured by Intamin, the ride starts with a smooth back and forth motion with increasing speed in both directions. The swinging motion results in an angle of up to approximately 75 degrees! As the arc of the pendulum increases to its full operating height, the riders experience sensation of speed, rocking motion, and weightlessness! Swashbuckler is opening summer 1982! The ride has a polynesian style entrance. February 1982. More land clearing begins. April 1982. The ride was put in place, and theming for the line begins. ericm95
^ Well sorry for the really delayed update, I have been very busy. ***************************************************************************************** Summer 1982 Summer is back! And Riverfront is open, so is their new ride "Swashbuckler." Of course it is a family ride, and it is a great fit for the park. It attracted a big crowd and luckily it ate up a lot of people. I had a great day at the park, my ride count came up to this: Swashbuckler: 2 Sasquatch: 2 Rivercat: 2 Galaxy: 1 Sky Wheel: 1 Chute for the Sky: 1 Onto the pictures! The first thing I did was head straight to Swashbuckler, and got on the first ride. It was great! I like the entrance for the ride. The queue had some pretty decent theming, the mist helps you keep cool too. Great addition! There have been rumors of a new coaster to come to the park by 1985... I then hit Galaxy, which surprisingly had a full queue (about 30 minutes) What is a visit to the park without hitting the park's coasters?? Sasquatch is still running great! I can't wait to see if this rumored coaster will top it and Rivercat This is one of my favorite spots in the park. I love how Rivercat interacts with the terrain. Speaking of Rivercat, it got a fierce new logo (Thanks RCInsider for the awesome logo!) More on the park soon! ***************************************************************************************** Comments please!

ericm95
I was wondering when this park would ever come back but I love the pirate ship ride and the name! Can't wait to see what the new ride is!!!!!! Thanks! And you'll find out very soon! ******************************************************************************************* August 1st, 1982. Well, as sad as it is, the season is coming to an end. I have a quick update for you guys. Rumor update: Rumor's have it that this new coaster may be built by arrow, it won't come next year but maybe the year after that? Of course we'll start this update with the obligatory Rivercat shot. As I headed over to Swashbuckler, it has about a 45 minute wait! It seems to be holding up well. The ride in action! I like the little pond next to it (And so do the birds...) Did you know the park had a carousel? Yeah I didn't either, it's kind of a forgotten ride in the park. Double down! To end this update on the 1982 season, here's Rivercat while leaving the park. Goodbye Riverfront! I'll see you next year! **************************************************************************************************** Comments please! ericm95
Nice update, double downs are fun Thanks! And yes they are Yay I love good rct3 parks, they are really fun to follow, and this is no exception. It kind of reminds me of Charleston Garden's first years. Thanks for the comment! ***************************************************************************************** July 1983 Wow is it already almost the end of 1983 season? Time flies by so fast! Nothing much happened this year, just same ol' Riverfront, but there is some interesting land clearing by Sasquatch. Sky Wheel is one of those rides that scare the crap out of me! I hate ferris wheels! Seabreeze Swings is one of the many flat rides in the park! It's a big hit with guests The park is shrouded in trees! Which is definitely a good thing, it provides a lot of shade for those hot summer days. 1984 Expansion Over by the end near Sasquatch, there has been some mysterious land clearing. It looks like a decent sized expansion, and it has been confirmed a new coaster is on its way for next year! The area is very large. I'm excited for what it is! The park did release sort of a hint, doesn't really help much on guessing what it is though If you ever, ever dare to top the beastYou will never, never see the light again Hmmmmm? More soon! *********************************************************************************************** Comments please!

coastercrazy 9
This park is great looking at coasters that opened in 1984 an arrow suspend, togo stand up, or arrow looper would make sense, unless its a classic wooden coaster, but the park already has one so that is kind of unlikely. Shall we call it Project 1984!

Thanks for the comments guys! *********************************************************************** 1984 Expansion Riverfront Amusement Park, Sacramento's premier family destination, announces the largest expansion since Rivercat and Sasquatch! This includes Grizzly! A high flyin looping roller coaster manufactured by Arrow Dynamics. Grizzly sends plummeting down a 100 ft drop, through two loops, two corkscrews, and a final airtime pop over a pond! Concept art: Also new for 1984 is the addition of Stinger. Stinger flips you upside down a staggering 8 times! A new restaurant is making its way to the park also. Country Johns Steakhouse will serve country fresh food, including: steaks, burgers, country skillets, and serves breakfast all day! Opening June, 1984! Very exciting! Thanks! *************************************************************************************** Well it is half way through the off season, and the park has been very secretive with construction updates. But they have released two pictures. It looks like a lot of work still needs to be done before the summer season starts! February 18th, 1984. Construction Update. As you can see Grizzly has been completed (*Please ignore the loop footer, none would fit right*) Also you can see in the top left that Country John's hasn't been completed either! They better haul on construction in the next months to finish. Also Stinger has been put up too. A lot of landscaping, actually all the landscaping needs to be completed. I really hope with all the work that has to be done, that they can finish on time! More soon! ********************************************************************************************** Comments please!
griffonj2022
Whenever supports don't fit right on the footers, I always double up on the footers. Put two overlapping footers underneath the loop support and have the support be in the middle of them. It looks a bit odd from the air, but it makes it seem more accurate if the support has the "right sized" footer. This is my method, but if you don't want to do that it's fine! Looks great regardless! I always thought that Arrow Corkscrew coasters were the hardest to support anyways!

And yeah they are hard to support, but they look great if you do them right! ****************************************************************************** June 14th, 1984 Today was a big day for Riverfront! The expansion was delayed about two weeks and today was the grand opening! I have a fairly large update for you guys, so I hope you enjoy the photos. As you enter the new area, Grizzly's lift looms over everything. After the lift and a quick turnaround, you plunge down a 100 ft drop! Through two loops. A quick turnaround, and finishes with two corkscrews! Grizzly has a great setting along a pond. This park just loves putting ponds next to their rides? We can't forget about Stinger! Also new for this year. The new restaurant was a big hit, their steaks are so good! My new favorite spot to eat. I started to hit other areas of the park, High Flyin Parachutes is still a park favorite. It offers a great view. Rivercat is no longer the best coaster in the park, imo Grizzly has taken that title away. It still looks beautiful flying along the hillside though. Swashbuckler still holds a big crowd, hard to believe this ride is already two years old? The park is really starting to get a skyline now. To end this update, one last shot of Grizzly. Thanks for reading! ********************************************************************************************** Comments please!
