aimster Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 ^ But what if said coaster enthusiast is a hot chick?
ParkTrips Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I'm embarrassed to admit I'm reading this thread on a Friday night... not to mention playing along
downunder Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 ^ But what if said coaster enthusiast is a hot chick? Â It goes without saying, anything derogatory about coaster enthusiasts applies only to males. I wonder what percentage of enthusiasts are girls, I'd say 5%, maybe less. I can't say I've come across a single female enthusuiast who was at all objectional, and I think it's quite brave for girls to step into such a male dominated area of interest. Â I found out well before I had anything to do with TPR that even saying you've even ridden some coasters will bring you derision from non-coaster enthusiast females, I mean positive scorn. Luckily I have other interests than coasters, so I don't have any need to talk about coasters.
BarryH Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 ^I better write a letter to the editor for such an insulting comment.

Luckily I have other interests than coasters, so I don't have any need to talk about coasters. Hmmm... guess you have a point there. Â But I am a girl (at least last time I checked... *checks again* Yup... I'm a girl) and I have several friends who are girls who love roller coasters and a few are even nerdy about them like I am (though not crazy enough to get up before sunrise to be at Busch Gardens for the passholder ERT on Cheetah Hunt). I've always been borderline girly-girl and tomboy. I love makeup and fashion and stuff... yet I also love sports, roller coasters... Â But even my female friends who don't do coasters admire my enthusiasm and have told me as much (though deep down they probably think I a total loonybird for riding these things).
BarryH Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 ^Maybe you need to introduce me to your coaster-loving female friends. Do they like "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" too? I need to add restraining orders to my collection...I mean, I need to meet a nice woman who will ride Sheikra with me. I can give you a kangaroo for each hookup.
downunder Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Barry, Barry, Barry... I can see the headlines now: "Fort Myers Man Steals Kangaroos from Theme Park", "Fort Myers Man Logs 500 Restraining Orders" and "Fort Myers Man Not Actually A Man". Â I thought you were waiting for Elissa's restraining order to expire, maybe she'll forget to renew it. BTW, whenver I hear Voyeur by Blink 182 I think of you. Â On a serious note, any plans for 1000 credits?
BarryH Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 ^Hmmm...I'm waiting for the restraining order to expire for Robb, actually. I really only stalk Robb and Elissa when they go to LAX. No really, I have two jobs. I don't have time to stalk anyone! Â I've never heard that Blink 182 song. It does sound like a sweet love song about two high schol sweethearts who fall in love and decide to devote their life to worshiping God. Am I right?
BarryH Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 ^The Lady Gay is an Aquatrax then? I will count it if Jeff Johnson counts it.
downunder Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I've never heard that Blink 182 song. It does sound like a sweet love song about two high schol sweethearts who fall in love and decide to devote their life to worshiping God. Am I right?  The Blink song is actually more poignant than that, here's a sample:  I can't be too cool in a tree with my pants down The air is cold and I've got splinters in my feet She caught me once, but I don't think that she cares now Unlike before, her view is now blocked by a leaf  (And I wish) I wish she'd be more kind now I'm out of luck 'cause the shades are pulled down I've seen everything there is to be shown I followed her all the way home
BarryH Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 ^Interesting lyrics. Is it an honor to know you think of me when you hear that song? It's like a song that reminds you of a former lover.
downunder Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 ^Now you're scaring me Barry, calling my lawyer. I won't think of you anymore, except in court. Â Are restraining orders keeping you away from some parks and preventing you getting to 1000 credits? I imagine they would send a SWAT team if you tried going to SFMM.
BarryH Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 ^What is keeping me from 1,000 credits? Â - Money - Jobs - My "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" fandom - etc. Â Honestly, I don't think I'll hit 1,000 credits. I don't even think Robb and Elissa have 1,000. I don't know how Big Mike got to that much. Â But who knows? It took my about 4 years to hit 500. So if we figure 4 years for every 100 coasters, I'd hit 1,000 in 20 years. Whoo-hoo!
downunder Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 ^I'm pretty sure Robb and Elissa are well past 1000, even by their high standards of what they count as a credit. If memory serves me right I believe Robb may have hit 1000 in 2008 on DelGrosso's mouse. I think JJ has passed 1,000,000 credits just after Cedar Point opened using his more expansive methods of counting. Â Star Wars and Star Trek fandom will keep you from many things Barry. Â I'll definitely hit 500 at SFOT next month, maybe earlier - though I'm running out of coasters that I particularly want to ride - GeForce, T-Express, Kawasemi, and I305 are all that spring to mind.
BarryH Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 ^I think Jeff Johnson's 500th coaster was Leap the Dips in its opening year.
jamesdillaman Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 ^ Depends on how he counts the Russian Ice slides, if they melt a little, is that a new credit?
