QueerRudie
A.J.- I couldn't agree more. It's why I posted a coaster in the TotW contest- I'm by far from being a 'professional' RCT II player- and I was attempting to show what somebody like myself could do with a ride; however, it appears that people aren't necessarily paying attention to the whole jist of things; that's not our fault at all- Matt's done a terrific job with getting the TotW contest started- and everyone is so used to over-complicating things elsewhere that they are tuned up to a different level of play. If anything, we're doing it right- and they will quickly catch on (in theory) that we're a very different feel and site from the others- that we want ALL people to play, not just the handful; I'm trying to encourage that along the way through the forums, through chat, and through showing off what the 'lower key' players like myself are doing. Sadly, though, there will always be people out to ruin the fun; and it's our job to stop them from crashing our party. We have the tools, the people and the ideas to prevent that from happening, but we need to be sure that party crashers aren't putting undue influence on them. robbalvey
I tweeted again about the Track of the Week contest. Looks like we have a few more submissions this time around? What is the last day to submit?
mcjaco
I prep all the front page stuff Monday night, but "officially" close the contest Tuesday morning. That way the winner gets a few hours of time. Then the next one goes up later that afternoon.
QueerRudie
Although I'm not eligible, I did post up one of my own for the contest- simply to get some inspiration out there. I'd thought about doing something like a "Mod's thread" for the board showing off what the Mods' do with their rides, etc. D.J.'s particularly good at design and scenery, A.j. as well- I'm pretty decent at ride design, and Matt's got RCT III down to a science (BTW, Matt, your Epcot thread is -juicy- with eye candy). We'd not necessarily update it on a 'weekly' basis- but as we find things and we post them for the room to see- inspiration more than anything else. djbrcace1234
^ Something like that came into mind as well. Just as a way to show new comers as well that we're not just the law of the region, but also one of the guys around as well.
mcjaco
Matt's got RCT III down to a science (BTW, Matt, your Epcot thread is -juicy- with eye candy). We'd Thanks. That project has been at such a stand still. I mistaken deleted the game file after I finished the entire Imagination Pavilion. Thank heavens I had sent a fairly close file to Pate on Atari (he did the World Showcase park), as he wanted to throw some of my buildings in the back ground to make it look more complete. I lost my motivation after I saw how much I needed to rebuild. Really want to get it started back up again, as they seem to be going back to the retro look so, it's almost be easy to do a Retro, and a New version. QueerRudie
That's great to hear- In so many ways seeing the 'retro' version you created took me back to my 'yout' of the 80s- and visiting the park. If anything- you were able to kindle memories so long buried under dust and dirt. It's worthy of front page of TPR itself and stand-alone. Perhaps we could use your example for the future 'Mod's Choice' starter? (Assuming of course you consider it ready and you feel it's OK?) I know it's a lot of work- and I'm never one to force time on somebody- but such a gem is beyond all and everything I've seen in RCT III.

robbalvey
So I'm reminding people to rank the tracks. I at least went in and ranked them all, although I'll be honest, I ranked them totally 'neutral' for the sole reason to just help with the numbers. Hoping that will get other people to start voting. QueerRudie
I've been thinking- which explains why we've got a pollution warning here in Phoenix today... Should I put a "Track of the Week" tab into the Exchange tabs button for sorting purposes? I think separating the two categories out (Totw and TPR Challenge) might be a faster way of sorting things out.
mcjaco
This week's winner, unless a whole lot of ranking happens.... www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1813Front Page week 2.bmp
djbrcace1234
Sad thing is that is there is only one vote for that respected track.

mcjaco
So I learned my lesson. I got all the stuff ready for the front page, and someone ranked a different coaster to move it into first. http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1832
A.J.
How about a mental deadline? The track with the highest rating before [insert time here] on [insert date here] wins.
QueerRudie
A fixed dealine setup would be best- I.E. Contest starts at (example) 6PM on Tuesday- and continues till 12AM Monday (PDT/PST)- This is something that I did with the TPR Challenge I- and it might be best to standardize all of the contests to make our lives easier- and make it easier to remember for everybody. (Not to mention, it prevents confusion if we've got the TPR Challenge plus the TotW contest running)
mcjaco
Yeah, I'm thinking a midnight deadline (mentally) is best. Although I'm not usually checking TPR after 10PM here, so.....still wiggle room!

djbrcace1234
I'm not sure if Socalcoaster's entry won last night, but his shouldn't win if so it happened. His entry is a "carbon" copy of a coaster found in a park he already submitted. Carlsbad Gardens: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1422 Entry: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1873 We didn't really outline that in the rules, so I'm going to let it go. Besides, we actually have two winners this week (participation was poor), which helps promote the Exchange. Any ideas for the next one? 1872_a_SCR4.bmp Edited April 19, 2011 by mcjaco
