It really was sad to see OzCat sitting idle. I wanted to try and get some lift shots to see if the motor/chain was still in place, but, after getting dirty looks from the vehicles entering the parking lot on my way up to see about permission to shoot pictures from the church parking lot, I decided it wasn't in my best interest. I suspect they would have removed the chain to prevent weathering, but who knows. The steel track strips appeared to be rusted pretty bad. The structure overall, however looks to be solid, but certainly would need some TLC if it were to ever re-open in that location, but that, is doubtful. Moving such a sexy coaster as this to another site would require a lot of work, time, and money. Not to mention the terrain would need to be as close to spot on as possible. I just don't see this one getting moved. A simple out and back, maybe, something as complex as this, it just doesn't seem to me that it would be financially viable. It's sad, but IMO, true.

I wonder if it is feasible for SDC to move the Ozark Wildcat to the park? A medium sized woodie would be a good fit for the park. They'd just have to find a spot for it. The three major steel coasters they have are very good rides and this would just round out their offerings. It does appear to be in decent shape. I think the idea of moving the Ferris wheel over to SDC mentioned above is a good idea too. Perhaps they could fit in to their Grand Centennial Exposition area. Peace, KC

I really don't like that idea...if you've been to SDC, then you probably noticed how awesome it would be for SDC to put in a terrain coaster, and Ozark Wildcat really couldn't do that. Wildcat wasn't anything spectacular, and SDC could definitely fit something much better in their park.

I went to CC three times, and the park was really just a dud in my opinion. The level of theme at the park didn't seem to be anywhere near where they wanted it to be and I felt like I was at a state fair with a pretty good wooden coaster on the side. The rides were still fun, but the whole idea of being open at night and wanting families to come after a full day at SDC just wasn't a good plan.

Thanks for the update. We jogged nearby during the TPR Middle America Tour this past summer but we didn't get so close and didn't have cameras.

I think the lousy economy doomed this park, and until Branson travel and tourism rebounds to pre-crisis levels, rides will continue to move out of town.

Before seeing your photos of the closed Celebration City, I though I would see a park in ruins, but after seeing your photos I was renewed with optimistic confidence that the rides left standing there would someday be running again, even it's in another park. Assuming that the rides are in good condition and can easily be fixed up and moved, I'm sure there will be parks out there that would love to have those rides for their own use.

"Would you like to dream that out? Then come to bed with me and do just that."

The latest word on the Wildcat is that the trains are going to Dollywood

For what? Thunderhead couldn't operate a third train unless they merely intend to use them for parts...
