Sorry for not making this a photo trip report, but camera's were not allowed

Ok, so we head out, running a bit late and arrive in time to hear one of the bands I really wanted to hear. We pick up our stuff, including two blankets to sit on, we checked on the website the night before, and we knew we were allowed to bring them, we also knew "bags of any kind will not be allowed", so we left some stuff in the car that my wife would need later (think breastfed new baby), we also hear the band i want to hear, finishing up, VERY early

We walk the VERY long distance from the car to the entrance to arrive to have a person at the gate bark at us "Blanket are not allowed", so I turned and said in the same tone she just said to me "then why the f@#$ did the website tell us to bring one" I walked over to another person checking in all the blankets that everyone had brought on, I was not nice to the lady, she eventually blamed the Ozzfest, saying "the artist, at the last minute decided not to allow blankets", well if thats true, I have a few choice words for Ozzy.

We then inquired, as they said they would not allow any bags, about my wife being able to leave so she could use her breastpump, she was told she could not leave, and they told her if she needed it she would have to go all the way back to the car and get it, and they would allow it in, well how nice of them

So my wife took the blankets and headed back to the car, and I went inside with my sister in law, we walked down into the second stage area to find a "metal" carnival, wow

we walked back up and met my wife, and headed down to listen to one of the band I really wanted to see, Arch Enemy, and you know what, the whole 15 minutes they were on the stage was great, a total of 4 songs, wow ultra ultra lame.

I was now getting warm and a quick look around I saw that there were no shade area's at all, ok, and water was almost $4.00 a cup, nice

we stood around as the other bands played and ate food, and ended up just sitting on the ground, as they also had ZERO seating, nice I ate my hamburger, that cost me $7.00, on the dirt ground, well I can see why they didn't allow blankets, God forbid you give anyone anywhere decent to eat.

The bands, for the most part were a bunch of moronic idiots talking about f--- this and ass f---, I heard one guy say, "Thank you Mexico, Gracias"

Well, the best show on the second stage was put on by Rob Zombie, he actually knew somthing about our fairly large city, and put on a pretty good show, we left midway through his last song to get seating on the grass area so we couold hear another band I really wanted to hear, In Flames, and they were great for the whole 15 minutes they were on stage, and thay made them start as soon as Rob Zombie stopped, so basically no one heard them, it sucked ass

After In Flames, Zack Wyld's band came on, and not to be mean to anyone who likes Black Label Society, it was 45 minutes of Zack ego stroking, it was awful, poorly written songs played by an ok guitarist who thinks he's the second coming of Christ.

After Ozzy's best friend finally left the stage it was time for Shawdows fall, and at this point it didn't take much for me to want to leave, and half way through their mediocre set it started to pour, that was it, we left, lame, lame, lame,LAME,LAME,LAME, oh did i mention it was lame?

so lets recap, $110 in food, $120 in tickets, slave camp conditions, a bunch of old fat people thinking this is the occation to either

1 wear little to no clothing

2 to wear spandex

nothings looks like a 400lb fat old lady in black and white spandex

I have been to a TON of shows, from local bands to, well Ozzfest, and it is easy for me to say this was the worst show ever, the worst sound mixing ever, and the poorest planning of an event ever, but hey they got what they wanted, my money, which they will never get again

OZZFEST WAS THE WORST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE

That sucks that it wasn't good.

If you ever want to get a camera in to a concert it's easy.

They make you hold your jacket from the top so they can check it. Just keep the camera in your hand, under your jacket. They never check.

I honstly went, and didn't mind following the rules, but they were assholes, no other word for it

We should of stayed for Ozzy and thrown breastmilk all over him

My friend went to the show @ Glen Helen and said that they moved the 2nd stage from its usual location to a place that created a "dust pit."

Seems like it is a bad year all around for the production team...

Chris.... don't blame Ozzy....blame the idiot people who come to the concerts...

the artist, at the last minute decided not to allow blankets", well if thats true, I have few choice words for Ozzy.

I just went to Jimmy Buffett this past Sunday (my trip report is coming; we were allowed disposable cameras) and they have instituted the same policy regarding blankets in the past few years. The reason being is because (at least as far as our venue and the JB concert) a few years ago, a bunch of drunks got the brilliant idea to put a girl in the blanket and then throw her....Naturally, she got seriously hurt.

We took a disposable plastic tablecloth and opened it just enough to sit on, and nobody said anything. I also saw people who took their blanket and cut it into small squares and they allowed that also.

I can remember when we bought our "Rush" blanket. It's still one of our favorites around the house.

It's not a "Rush" blanket per se, we just bought it at the Rush concert ... for $30. Of course they sell the same blankets in most stores for around $10.

It just seems that people at concerts, no matter what show it is, are assholes. I don't know what that's all about.

crispy you didn't like my black and white spandex outfit?

j/k hun. like I said in chat, I'm sorry it wasn't that great. I would have just been thrilled to see Rob Zombie, if nothing else good came from the show. maybe it's a good thing you didn't take pics? I'm not ready to see a "fat person wearing spandex" photo TR.

Yeah, Rob Zombie is a great live act, he just knows how to get people into it.

the second stage was in a dust pit, there was dust flying everywhere

there were some good aspects, but compared to last year, when I went to Power Prog Festival, drove through hurrician Ivan, and I would do it again, that festival was a ton better

You have to understand that Ozzfest only exists for one reason: to make Sharon Osborne more money. They don't care about the fans, they don't care if everyone is ripped off on ticket prices and concessions. It's a huge corporate mess. Tack on the way Iron Maiden was treated on their last night, and you have a show I'll never ever give a cent of my money.

Compare this to something like Prog Power, where the tickets are reasonably priced, it's held in a nice concert facility, and all the bands are treated with respect and get a decent set time (the shortest is 30 minutes, usually reserved for a band that's just put out their first CD). I know where I'm spending my concert money every year...

^ Dave is right. All the money that they rob you of goes right into Sharon Osbourne's pockets. Where do you think she gets the money to do all that shopping.

Sharon will pimp out Ozzy 6 nights a week until he is dead! Which won't be long at this rate.

Prog Power Fest is alot diffrent, its pretty cool to have the band members walking around after thier show and meeting people, and everyone was happy, and the staff was nice and treated everyone with respect

Yeah, my next metal fest will be power prog.

That sucks about Ozzfest. I went about 3 years ago and saw System of a Down, who were awesome. We sat on the lawn, so it wasn't too bad, just miserably hot.

I did get to see a drug deal go down right in front of us, so that was an interesting experience.

Dude, Im sorry it sucked so bad, it sounds like my luck. ^Haha, my dad and I got to see one right in front of us in the middle of the national mall in DC. It was a moving drug deal too, he stuck out the money, got the bag, and off they went!

There was so much POT at this event it was amazing

i have random drug test at work, and I usually don't care about it, but when it might cost me my job, i become, for lack of a better term, an asshole

i sat next to an older man thinking it would be safe, only to have him pull out a pipe and light up right next to me, then of course the wind blew the smoke in my face

oh i was pissed
