Groteslurf Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Walibi Belgium is for the bigger part flooded after the heavy rains this weekend. I'll try to found some more info and pictures on my pc at home this evening. Here already some impressions Below pictures taken from : http://themepark.nl/ubb/ubbthreads.php/topics/1515771/2.html video : http://www.deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws/mediatheek/nieuws/binnenland/1.905386
Team Thriller Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Too bad it flooded the nice part of the park. The other side could have used the cleaning. --James
Groteslurf Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 It's weird to see the park flooded while I've been there only 10 days ago. Hereby below 7 pics from the Walibi Facebook page.
mightbeawannabe Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 That's terrible! But, I guess worse could have happened because isn't Walibi Belgium near a river or something? mightbe-When I first saw the thread I thought Walibi World for some reason....I guess because that whole island is below the water table and such, but then I realized it said BELGIUM-awannabe
beatle11 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Hopefully the damage isn't too bad, but water damage is a big problem.
larrygator Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Benny - Has the park been exposed to flooding in the past?
ginzo Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I'm only sad about the damaged Fanta machine.
larrygator Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I'm only sad about the damaged Fanta machine. It's the off season, I'm sure it was empty. I'm sad seeing a great shuttle loop that is SBNO.
Groteslurf Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 That's terrible! But, I guess worse could have happened because isn't Walibi Belgium near a river or something? Actually there is a river running through the park, but that wasn't the problem. It was the unseen heavy rainfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday which caused the floodings all over belgium. Larry, as far as I know, WB never had problems like this before. According to what they wrote on their FBpage, no big damages have been caused either.
thomas2 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Finally the water of the water rides is clean for once!
ginzo Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I'm sad seeing a great shuttle loop that is SBNO. Yes, that is disappointing. Turbine was the best coaster there.

" Season is over at Walibi Belgium, but I remember the park flooded the year they opened Dalton Terror. You couldn't "cross" the lake to reach Flashback and Turbine but had to make your way all around the park to reach the once called "Sirocco". The little river is "la Dendre" and can be seen crossing the bridge to Vampire, as well as the 2 bridges that led to Tornado / Vertigo zone
cfc Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I'm sad seeing a great shuttle loop that is SBNO. Yes, that is disappointing. Turbine was the best coaster there. Agreed--the Tutankhamen shooting dark ride is great, and they have a good mine-train coaster, too.

Yeah, I remember those rides being good as well. As for the rest of the park, nothing stood out too much. The woodie was decent, but not spectacular. I guess "Vekomaland" lived up to its nickname.
