Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom Discussion Thread

p. 201 - Iron Menace announced for 2024!

Recommended Posts

I actually might hit up Dorney's haunt this year. I love it for the short lines and the Haunt attractions are perfectly mediocre. They're much better than Six Flags. Of course this is 100% dependent on how late in the season they keep Thunder Creek Mountain running. Once that closes for the year this park really isn't worth visiting.

I hope Thunder Creek Mountain isn't already closed for the season. On Monday, the ride was drained and none of the logs were in the trough and off to the side near the lift hill. It might have just been closed because they didn't have enough ride operators too with some water slides and the 2nd lazy river closed as well. It was the same with White Water Landing since last week but I somewhat expected that with the queue being used for a Haunt maze.

I swear to god we had almost this exact same conversation last year when it was drained after Labor Day, and then Bill posted a smug onride selfie from it during Haunt when it was 45 degrees outside.

^ Have they (or any theme park for that matter) ever reopened a flume in September after draining and removing logs? That usually signifies "down for the count" to me, but I could be wrong.

Seems very counter productive to go through all the time and effort to drain it and remove everything, then to go back through and fill it back up for what, a month's use...if that.

False. WWL was not down due to the new maze. It was down due to maintenance issues.

Yeah Dorneykid. Make yourself useful and find out if TCM is done for the season so Bill can determine if a Dorney trip could and should be squeezed into his rigid autumnal flume schedule.

I will do my best to find out that information and will report as soon as I get it.

Whatever you guys I'll be there riding Demon Drop until my eyes fall out of my skull.

Same, but given the fact that this park basically has 4 good rides with Thunder Creek Mountain, Talon, Posessed and Demon Drop, if one of them is closed then I generally don't bother.

Last year my sister said the pullout on Demon Drop made her feel like her ovaries fell out. True story.

can everyone make sure to take videos in both please!!!

Because shakey videos filmed in the dark will really capture the moment.

well if you remember what they did last year with trick or treat they had a lights on tour with no actors.

No I don't remember. And it sounds dumb.

i was talking about this. i thought this was what they were doing. you can drop the attitude boldikus and stop acting all cocky

Both Blood on the Bayou/ The Ward will be previewed on September 11th.

Do they do this every year with the new haunts? If so that's cool. Wish WOF would do that with the new London indoor haunt

No this is the first time they are ever doing this! I would love them and other cedar fair parks do haunt previews for new haunts.

I think having a technical rehearsal on the new haunts would be a good way to work out the kinks before the masses come

Next Thursday they have employee preview night, which is pretty ugh the haunt rehearsal for all the actors. Plus it's a very fun event for employees.

I'll try to open a little report on it!

... so um

There's literally like zero chance of them opening my beloved and thunderous mountainous creek on a Friday night for Haunt right? I know it's September and it's night time and they're probably short staffed but what if I ask super nice and try to look really sad until someone notices?

What about Saturdays if we slip an employee a 20

I think you should be able to just bring your own water and it'll be all good.

I'm too cheap for that. I'll fill it myself one courtesy cup at a time.
