Have you ever read a top ten list and a coaster was there that just shouldnt have been there.

 

-Beast and Son of Beast

-Goliath

-Magnum XL 200, its a very fun ride but not a top ten.

 

Now what are coasters that should be there.

 

-Blue Streak at Cedar Point

-Pheonix should have been on the list more.

It's all subjective, personally I love Magnum and hate Millennium Force, to each his own.

Everyone has their opinion as to what coasters should be in the top ten, so saying that a choice is wrong isn't true. Top ten lists will never be right or wrong because someone will disagree

It is subjective, but I do agree with what Benzo is saying. I mean, personally I find the Beast to be one of the most boring, overrated coasters I've ever been on, and yet it seems to be in most people's top ten. I just don't get it, but I'm also not going to get bent out of shape over it.

Personally, I don't make a top ten. Too many good coasters out there. Honestly. I could throw a few inverts, a few hypers, a few loopers and you are way over ten at this point. Why put yourself through it?

 

I agree about top ten's though. I don't think any will be as good as EVERYONE likes. You can't make anyone like a certain coaster.

I found the Beast to be an excellent ride pre-2002 and pre-mag trims on the course. My first ride in 2000, was amazing .. but since it just sucks.

 

It prolly did help the fact my first ride was at night after a long summer day too.

Exactly the reason why I have my 'ranking system' which, conveniently translates into how I group coasters in the Mitch Hawker Poll.

 

I rate coasters on a ranking from 1 - 5, and this is how I group them up:

 

1 - My favorite coasters in the world

2 - Coasters I really like a lot and would make a trip for

3 - Coasters that I like, but wouldn't go out of the way for

4 - Coasters that weren't very good, but I would ride them again.

5 - Coasters that I don't ever care to ride again!

 

So all the coasters in my #1 ranking, in a sense, are all my #1s.

I have only ridden like 94 coasters, so me making a top 10 would include some coasters that would have no reason being in a top 10.

 

The only ride I always wondered (WTF) on was X. I can 'maybe' see it's first year. It was new, thrilling, etc, etc, etc.

 

But now? People are still so hung up on the ride and it sucks.

well i know its about your personall opinions but i think the people that make the list just look at statistics. I remember I think in 2002, coasters like Magnum, Millenium force, Goliath and Nitro making it in the list. I think that most of the times a new coaster that broke or breaks a new record will be on some list.

I have noticed that I tend to like rides better when I have ridden them more recently. So rides that I have ridden a while ago generally go down in "ranking." Like Boulder Dash, i havent ridden that in at least 3 years and I dont remember much about it, so when I go ride another ride like Ghost Rider, it tends to "rank" better just because I cant compare the two coasters approprietly.

I hate Son of Beast and would burn it to the ground if I got the chance, but absolutley love The Beast. I think Raven and The Legend are overrated and don't deserve the praise they get. Also, I saw Goliath in the top ten of some list, and it is my absolute least favorite steel hyper.

I like the Beast (although trims have made it lame in recent years) because it is so unique, especially at night. I wouldn't put it in my top 5 wooden coasters, but definitely a classic.
