pianojohn Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 These are pics from the 1st year that the Riverside Cyclone ran. Notice the original first drop and PTC trains! And The Black Widow
EnglndPatriots6 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Looks like a fun coaster. That first drop looks fun to. Sad part is, PTC trains.
Cyber.Fiber Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I Love these Retro Pictures! This is no exception! Keep em' Coming!
larrygator Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Oh I rode the Riverside Cyclone before I knew much about this hobby in the 1980's. Boy was that a great ride.
bspellx5 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Cyclone looked so much smaller then, especially in the 6th picture down. Not sure why, maybe because it doesn't have too much surrounding it?
nhman93 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I agree that for some reason the ride looks much smaller then it does today, but anyways great pictures
Thrillrider92 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Nice pictures. I haven't seen pictures of this ride in a while. It just makes me want to get up to Six Flags New England. They have some great looking coasters.
moinab Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Awwww! My home park! Black Widow was originally "The Loop," and it was a big deal to us, way back when! Actually, my original home park was Mountain Park, in Holyoke. Anybody remember that one?
montezooma Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 John- I am LOVING these retro photo threads. I hope you have a ton of photo albums more to share!!! Shane
coasterfan21 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Wow cool to see some retro pics of Riverside before it became Six Flags.
Rinith Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Oh man, the original 3 bench PTC's. Somehow got damaged so they had to get new ones from Morgan. Those would valley all the time though so Six Flags bought new PTC's which then started to tear up the track. Poor Cyclone, it's a good coaster but the trains always suck for it.
