Ahh, I see the name problem.

I also noticed that we should probably keep the descriptions as short as possible. In the user end uploader there is 300 character max limit for a description, but that limit doesn't seem to be in the admin panel side. So maybe we can try to keep the description to about the equivalent of 4 lines of text in the main page, otherwise I think it's looking a bit bad with some HUGE descriptions and some small ones.

Thoughts?

Here is the bug list I have just sent them:

A few other items to note:

1. Adding the file type description pull down menu.

2. Adding the file type description manager in the admin panel

3. Adding the file type description on the main page (the header should just say "type")

4. The max character limit for the descriptions should be added to the admin panel

5. There should be a check box under the descriptions box in the admin panel that says "disable character limit" for those times we may want to ignore it.

6. In the admin panel, when you select "manage tracks" and add a new track, it automatically adds the user name of the admin who is logged in, that user section should be blank by default.

Forgot to mention that part too. The last one I entered is waaaaaay too long. Just wanted to see how it'd all look.

So, yes. In total agreement.

I thought this description was perfect in size:

Was your kid too short or too afraid to be launched at 100mph 400 feet into the air? Be afraid no more! Superman: The Return has arrived. This is a miniature model of the Superman: The Escape @ SFMM.

I'm off to eat turkey, and drink beer. I'll do some more over the course of tomorrow, I got through pages 56-58.

Short update: Did three more pages today. We have a total of 81 files uploaded thus far (only six forum pages have been gone through).

I'll do some more tomorrow.

Looks like a bunch of screen shots from the first batch I uploaded are now missing. I'm assuming that was from when the switch from trackexcahnge to gameexchange happened.

Robb,

I'm trying to add a .dat file (RCT3 park files), and can't through the Exchange page under my account. I added dat file to the accepted file types, but it won't upload without a screenshot.

It will go up via the Admin page.

Matt, how many files do you think you can get done tomorrow? I'm thinking about opening the game exchange up on Monday for beta testing.

Ok, I've gotten everything off page 49. I actually did the download then re-upload method since I didn't realize that when you're doing a screenshot via URL you could only do one. I've asked the China company to look into that.

Sorry Robb, got caught with a nasty stomach virus last night. Today hasn't been much better.

Do you want to go beta tomorrow, or wait a little longer?

Ok, awesome. I'll do some more tonight. Right now I'm working on getting out Black Friday orders. I think what I'll do tomorrow is post something, almost quietly in the games forum about it. I'll tell people to help test the system by populating it with tracks, but to ONLY post tracks that have not been posted to TPR before...other wise they'll end up getting double posted.

I gave people a sneak preview to those who were in the chat room last night. There were some of our NL players that seemed to be a bit excited by it!

Got through page 44. We seem to be in a time where there was a lull in uploads. I'll do more tomorrow. Just let me know what page you stop on, and I'll start up from there.

Once dmaxsba starts populating it with all his RCT2 scenery, it's going to be huge.

I did think of one item. For RCT3 items, we might need to put some sort of check boxes to show if Soaked or Wild are required.

^ That's a good point. I'll have to figure out a good way to do that. For now, we should just tell people to include it in their description.

Halfway through page 43. We have 228 items after only 15 pages of in the forum. And I'm trying not to add items from banned members (Benzo and M Force 4 Ever).

I posted a screenie of it last night for the kids in Chat. They went ape poo poo over it.

Personally, I'd like to wait until I get to about page 35....closer to 300 items. But whenever you want to go Beta, let me know. We'll need to lay down some rules for them, before they go nuts.

^ Agreed. It's looking more like we'll hit 10k posts this month so I'm not as worried about it. I didn't get to do any pages yesterday because of the RAW stuff that needed to go up for this morning. I should have time to do more at work today, though. Let me know what pages you get done so we don't overlap.

^ I'll finish off page 43 this afternoon. I'm finding that doing this through IE at work is more time consuming than Firefox at home.

I have nothing going on tonight, so I'll do a bunch of pages when I get home.

Just a bucket list of items I've thought of while working on the Exchange:

- Indicators for Soaked and/or Wild! compatibility

- Sub Category for RCT3 - Custom Ride(s)

- Additional Category - Patches/Utilities/Trainers

- Additional Game - Scream Machines - DONE

Got through page 40. Time to spend some time with the Wife.

We're at over 350 items through only 18 pages.

I've put out feelers to one of the major RCT2 sites that's closing down. One of our members has posted some of their items, but I want to make nice, and make sure it's ok to officially add them to the database. I'm doing the same with some of the major RCT3 Custom Scenery gurus as well. I don't want every piece of RCT garbage posted here, but the major good stuff would be nice.
