mcjaco
I saw it, ranked it, and changed the description.
robbalvey
^ OK, perfect. At least that means we can upload all those files that are currently in the forum via the admin panel and assign them to a user for them to mange.
mcjaco
I can get started on that Friday or Saturday, if you want. I'm going to work from the back of the Forum to the most recent. At least that was my plan. EDIT: Actually, I could start tomorrow at work. No one will be here. robbalvey
^ That is where I started too. I figure we should probably upload as close to every file as we have up there. It's just another source of content that, even if some of those tracks are very old, can help us populat the system. Overall, though, so far does this look like what you were expecting? robbalvey
Ok, cool. So the bug is that it won't let me add admins that already have screen names, and it won't let you in because you're not flagged as an admin. Gotta get them to fix that. But at least for now, this is a work around.
mcjaco
Sweet. Seems simple enough, after using the Index Admin. I'll get started tomorrow, and will let you know if I find any bugs.
robbalvey
Matt, Note that at some point tomorrow when the China company gets my list of fixes the URL will probably move to: http://themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/ and the admin panel to: http://themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/manage/ I want to stay away from using the word "admin" in our URLs since that's going to be the first thing the hackers will try. robbalvey
Looks like it's been updated here: http://themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/ I think the new additions and color looks great! Ties it in with the rest of TPR. There should be a few more changes still come. Most notably the file type (track, park, scenery) still hasn't gone in yet. Here is the last round of bugs I sent the china company: 1. If a user is already logged into the TPR forum, can they automatically be logged in to the game exchange? 2. I see that you can now sort by Track Name, Game, User, and Upload Date, but can you also add rank to that? 3. When a user clicks on the sort links again, can it toggle between ascending and descending? 4. On the Login Screen, can it say "Game Exchange Login" instead of Member Login? 5. The title of the page should be "TPR Game Exchange" 6. Instead of "Upload New Track" and "Manage My Tracks" can it say "Upload New File" and "Manage My Files" 7. Instead of "Track Name" it should say "Title" 8. On the search pull down menu it should say "Title" instead of "Track Name" 9. Can we add a limit to the amount of characters for the description? It should not allow the tables to get any wider or taller. So however many characters will fill up the current box is fine. We should also display what that limit is to the user. robbalvey
^ That's exactly right. Just like how we did on CoasterTube. They will all have to be re-uploaded to this new system.
mcjaco
Gotcha. Definitely a project for home then. Can't be downloading and uploading here. Big Brother is watching. I'll get started on this tomorrow morning. Should move pretty quick once I get a system down. Edited November 24, 2010 by mcjaco
robbalvey
Yeah, and I can help. Remember, there is still the feature for marking what type of file each one is. We can start without this, but we'll have to go back to each one and mark it as track, park, etc....
mcjaco
It'll be the download/upload part that'll be time consuming. Otherwise it should move quick. I have most of the threads from way back titled correctly so finding them will be easy.
robbalvey
I'm actually going through and uploading everything from the last page of the forum (p.58) just to see if I find any bugs while populating the system. Here are the threads I didn't upload because I don't have any of the games installed on this computer so I either can't take screen shots or identify which is which: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=311 - I don't know which of these are which http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=304 - There was no screen shot. I'm going to have to get the china company to do a "generic logo" when there is no screen shot. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=780 - No Screen shot
robbalvey
And here is my most updated bug list that I have sent the developer: 1. It should not allow the tables to get any wider or taller. So however many characters will fill up the current box is fine. We should also display what that limit is to the user. 10, Can the index.php list 40 tracks on one page before adding another page number? 11. If someone uploads a file for No Limits, RCT2, or RCT 3 without a screen shot, can you please use the default screen shots attached? 12. For the admin panel, if the track file or screen shots already exists on the server, can we have an option to paste the URL for the file instead of having to re-upload it? For example, we have a track file and screen shots here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=561 The user control panel should not include this option. robbalvey
Yeah, that first one is a pack of tracks. Not just one. A lot of the early ones didn't have pics. Dumb kids. Yeah, I saw that. robbalvey
Big update from the China Company today... Looks like most everything on that list was fixed. There is now a place in the admin panel when adding a new track that you can put in the URL of a track so you don't have to download and re-upload again. I haven't tested this so I'm not sure how well it's going to work. But its there. They also didn't quite understand the whole "file type" thing getting confused with file type displaying the extension. I wrote back saying it's two different things. So we'll have to wait for an update on that until we can put in "track", "park", "Scenery", etc.... The only other thing they didn't fix was the auto-login, but I thought phpbb3 had some sort of code to be able to do this. I'll ask Hanno about it. Anyway Matt, give it a try when you get free time this weekend! --Robb

mcjaco
I just got through three pages in about fifteen minutes. The copy and paste seems to be working, and is much easier! The only thing I might change right now is having the User selection blank when you're in the Admin page. It defaults to my login. It's not a pain, but I have to delete, and then type in a user name. I think the bigger project will be getting photos for a lot of the older stuff.
