GCS Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 We are headed to GADV for the first time this Friday. Sadly Ka is down for who knows how long but we will make do with all the other rides!! We've got the tickets, the gold flash pass, parking, and hotel all straight. Which places are the best to eat within the park? Is there somewhere decent/close by if we exit say midday and eat and then do the Safari to come back in the park afterwards? I would assume this may be our best choice. Thanks in advance for your advice. Greg
Medusa1861 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I haven't had any success with "great" food within the park. There are indeed many fast food options just seconds outside the park. The one place within the park I thought was decent was the Italian type place right next to the big wheel. But I only recommend that if you absolutely want to stay in the park and eat. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the place, but it looks kind of like a castle.
Philrad71 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Inside the park, we ate at the Western themed 'Best of the West' restaurant near the log flume and Runaway mine train. We got burgers which I thought were exceptionally dry/plain, but you do get baked beans, a roll and coleslaw for sides for about $10. They had Heineken draft so that sorta made up for the dry hamburger! Outside of the park, (as the guy above stated) are many fast food options. If you are looking for cheap, that would be the way to go. There is not much else around the area except for the pizza/Mexican restaurant/bar right near the entrance. We stopped there one night and ordered a pizza to take back to the campground, but it was pricy at $18 for a medium Hawaiian pizza. Luckily, the pizza looked more like a large with NY style thin crust and was pretty tasty. That's about it for options near the park unless you want to drive to Trenton or Philly!
larrygator Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I generally only eat at nathan's inside the park If you are looking for fast food they are many options within one mile of the park on the main road leading to the park from I-195. McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and also a WaWa (made to order sandwiches)
GCS Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Very good. We'll probably bounce out for lunch then and then hit the Safari after we eat. Once finished up there we'll go back in the park for some more rides til they close! Thanks everyone.
SharkTums Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 The Panda Express has nice indoor seating and is located next to Skull Mountain!
YoshiFan Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I always go to WaWa, either before I go to the park or afterwards since it is a real pain to leave the park and then re-enter just to get food. It could take close to an hour by the time you walk out of the park to the car, leave the lot, go to WaWa, order the sandwiches, eat and then go back into the parking lot, walk to the gates and go through the metal detectors again.
larrygator Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 ^That's why I never leave the park to eat. That hour is more valuable to me than the $3-$4 I would save leaving the park to eat.
Josh Linn Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I'd recommend the WaWa less than a mile away from the park, their MTO sandwiches are money. As for in the park, stick with Panda Express or Papa John's. I had a bad experience ordering elsewhere (I forget what it was called, a little place right by Panda Express/Gotham City area)
Speeddeamon128 Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 WaWa (made to order sandwiches) Wawa! Enough said
