Six Flags Enthuseast
Hello everyone! Thank you for reading my Trip Report. This is going to be my first multi-park TR, so comments and feedback are very much welcome and appreciated, good or bad. It may help improve the overall TR if I can make changes. Now, I don't think I told everyone, but 3 weeks ago, my family scheduled a 1 week 4 park trip to Southern California. We did Disney's California Adventure, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and Six Flags Magic Mountain. The whole trip was a blast, and I really have to keep thanking my awesome parents for taking me on these trips, even though these coasters are slowly beginning to take a toll on them... Anyways, I'll start with a prologue. Yes, it IS a midsize car. It just has a "2008 Chrysler Town & Country" body kit on it. So to end this prologue, I'll take a picture of our 'midsized rental car'. No! No! Not that one.... I already had it my way. Have you? I'm still awake... Just. These are for you Jeremie! When we arrive at Thrifty, I go right to the brochure stand. And we begin the wait for the luggage.... which will either not come or have 90% of its contents stolen, as always. "Mr. Alvey, your ride is here!" Patrick approved revolving door! The Governator will kill you if you dare dirty up his clean floor. Space Tunnel, AAAHHHHHHH!!!! Be careful, if you're really tall, watch your head if you take these escalators. It's kinda short, as you can see. I could've sworn I just had a burger from here... but it was in a different state! We've finally reached LAX! I'm desperately trying to stay awake!! It's beginning to get late. Mount Bachelor, which means we're in Oregon! In case you didn't know, Mount Raineer and some smaller city that isn't Seattle. We quickly begin flying over the Puget Sound. "Hey guys! Just stoppin' by to say hello! Go back to watching random photos of the plane flying of several parts of the West Coast." We're ready to take off! We were able to watch NASCAR while we were in one of the many shops on our way to our plane. GOOD SANDWICH! There, now I'm being polite to keep from ruining my manners. Garble garble garble! I got a Double Stacker. If you guessed BK, you were right! Ohhh...... Bagels!! We get to the airport and we're pretty hungry... guess where we go? Looks like my Xcelerator hat is going to get to see more parks than just KBF! The prospect of DCA, SFMM, Disneyland, DCA/Disneyland, SFMM, KBF, and Disney (respectively) in a week sorta made me freak out, and my face was stuck this way for a while... RCFreak
Nice TR so far, but one suggestion I have would be to be more selective about which pictures you end up posting. A lot of your pics are slightly unnecessary (and blurry!) And you really don't need to try and post every single picture you are taking to try and get a good story across. More pictures don't always mean a better PTR! Can't wait to see more of your trip.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^Yeah, I have a tendency for taking too many pictures, but I didn't post any of the 'overly' unneccessary ones. Don't worry, I'll try to see if I can take a few more out of the next reports, since most of them have 200+ pics. V AN eye test. Actually, my left eye is a little fuzzy, but it's just the way my DSi takes pictures. There's not much I can do about it. MOD EDIT by larrygator: You might want to get a eye test if you don't think a lot of those pictures are blurry. However, I do look forward to non-blurry photos from your home park someday. netdvn
The pics look a little on the grainy side IMO. But I'm very interested in some of those SoCal brochures (mainly the Sea World/SFMM ones). I have a bunch of BGW 2009 brochures that I'm willing to trade. Interested???
Six Flags Enthuseast
^Actually, I'm not in the 'park map' trading business, but thank you for the offer! I'm sending them to Jerrykoala2112 since he asked me first and I'm not sure I have enough to go around. I suggest you talk to him, but thanks again for showing interest! Yes, as I said in my KBF 2009 visit 2 months ago, the way my Nintendo DSi takes pictures can make them a bit blurrier than pics taken by 'normal' cameras. Even though they're pretty high quality on the system, they loose a bit of that quality when they reach the internet. Also, some of the pics may come out mirrored. This is because the DSi's internal camera takes pictures in a reversed way, leaving a reversed image. So don't worry about that, there isn't much I can do to fix it, really. Anyways, since I'm stuck at home today, I'll continue to DAY 1 of my trip: DCA. Cool. Since some of the next pictures won't load fast enough, I'm going to stop here for now, but I'll pick up later. Thank you for reading again! Patrick So guess what we did next? "I didn't approve of the ferris wheel, but I DEFINITELY approve of this lemonade cup!" Those people waiting in line for the non-swinging cars are smart people! Yeah, you're probably a lil' woozy after getting off this ride. I do not approve of this ferris wheel... And we get to go a second time?!?!?!?!??!?!?!? Wheel shot, in case you're interested. These chicks we were sitting next to were a little scared, but they survived. Bored..... "Oh boy.... This is going to suck!" We didn't think it'd be bad... until we all saw this! Green light means go. Control panel: The Pic. You should know why I'm taking this picture. No point saying if you already know. Too many supports in this picture. CRAP! The line is long........ and it moves so SSSSLLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! Yeah, I'm not going to say it again.... This is where we're heading now. We'll choose the swinging car. ZOOM! "Yes, it was a very exiting ride. Maybe not as good as I expected, but I enjoyed it a lot! I like RHCP, so I'd rather have ridden Rockin' Screamin'." "We're on next!" Intamin transfer nerds are drooling! I'm glad we only had to wait 20 minutes! I would've waited an hour and a half, but my mom and dad weren't impressed by it. Returning train. Until now, I never knew that it was dual-stationed! ZOOM! "I think this is going to be AWESOME!" ZOOM! ....2......1.......... ....4.....3..... Launch in 5...... They plan for the water show to look something like this, apparently. There's me again, the S&S nerd waiting for the Maliboomer car to be within view... Continuing on..... I hope they have it filled up and ready to go soon! This is disgustingly ugly!!!! Well, will World of Color be worth it? I was unsure of what to think about the construction. But then...... wait for it....... If it's a dream away, does that mean that it'll be open tomorrow? Dome: The Ride. Then I saw this and thought of how how ugly it may look once I see it. What does everybody mean? The pond isn't drained! "This will be my first ever ferris wheel. I'm not kidding!" That's where we're headed next. Proof that the show pokes you in strange places. It's a portal to the world of Taco Town! Check out my *SEXY* 3D bug glasses! The nicely themed queue. NOTED! Yup. That's where we're going to get stinked on, yelled at, nearly hit by spiders, and given orgasms by the hornets that poke you in weird places! So we begin our trek through the park. First planned ride? It's Tough to be a Bug! In. Poor Goofy, all alone. Mom's ready to ride Soarin', dad's just along for the ride. Except for the themeing, this Soarin' is an exact copy of the one at Disney World. "Do you guys think I can get one of these?" Mickey ALWAYS scores with Mini. Guaranteed or your money back! That's where we'll be going today! It was very crowded that day. But it was a Sunday, so I wasn't surprised really. Finally, we're here! For you tram enthusiasts... Yes, I CAN, in fact, spell it right! When in California, it's always good to know where the exit is. What kind of stuff is going on back there? Does Disney even know about this one? Just in case you didn't know where we were. "I'd like to stay and drool over all this Intamin, but we gotta get to the park!" Yeah, if you wait for a Space Shot car to go up before taking the picture, you are an S&S nerd! (like me) A lot of things are visible from the road. Hehehe! It's funny because I'm parked here, but I'm not staff. OMG! I didn't know SFMM was that close!... Oh wait.... power lines. Duh! Patrick, of course! What could be in here.....? "Yes, it's me again! Ready to have some fun?" Edited October 22, 2010 by Six Flags Enthuseast
Six Flags Enthuseast
Since I'm unable to find the rest of the photos from DCA, I'll just finish Day 1 orally: So after Maliboomer (my favorite ride at DCA now), we headed over to Mohulland Madeness. But since the line was 40 minutes, we skipped it and decided to do it later. We begin heading over to the left side of the park. We get our Dome: The Ride credit, which was actually a lot more fun than we expected. We pass the rapids ride. For some reason, I thought it had a very fast lift since rapids rides tend to have slow lifts. We finally make it over to the left side of the park and we do some of the Muppets 3D Show (yes, I get my 2nd sexy 3D glasses credit of the day!) and pretty much finish off that section of the park with the Aladdin Show and a glass of water. We continue over to Condor Flats and do Soarin'. Finally, the disappointment of the night, we attempt to do ToT. However, as many of you knew, there was a slight earthquake that night, and we were forced to leave the queue. So we pretty much end the day with our Wingstreet dinner. teriyaki Mmm...... Asian style teriyacki boneless wings!
Jerrykoala2112
Did you see all those brochures I was sooo happy!!!!!!!!!! THANKS! YOUR PTRs were awesome! Your blue Pokemon sure made it a lot cooler! Pretty creative and probably your signature in your PTR! Hehehe
WFChris
Actually, the Soarin at WDW is an 'exact copy' of the one out here on the west coast!!! Chris.
Top Thrill Dragster
Maliboomer better than CA Screamin? Great TR, you should have taken advantage of the single rider lines in DCA.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^^^Unnecessary amount of happiness! However, that happiness will cost a lot: since I can't fit all the brochures in 1 flat rate envelope, you'll have to send me $10.00 minimum before I can send them for you. Sorry, mom won't let me give them to you unless you send me the money first. ^^Yes, I knew that, just the themeing is a bit different. ^Actually, I think its a tie. I'm not kidding, I used to hate the S&S rides, but now I love them. The reason it's a tie is that I like vertical launches a lot, and CS just wasn't as 'fantastic' as I expected. Still, it makes my Top 10. (Wish they were lap bars instead of Over-The-Shoulders) Expect DAY 2: SFMM Visit 1 photos by Saturday!
the ghost
^ During the opening year or two when it was untrimmed the ride was amazing. There was literally ejector airtime, and the the two(or is it 3) bunny hops before the final helix drop gave the most intense airtime of any coaster I have been on besides ghostrider, during opening year.(before it was @$$ raped by cedar fair)
Top Thrill Dragster
^Yeah, the first four years CA Screamin used to have excellent air time over the camel backs. Its a shame they had to trim the ride because of that accident in 2005. It used to be a top ten ride.
MagicMountainMan
Man I remember that airtime so well.... I miss it! I did notice however that they don't seem to be trimming before the loop right now though. Really good TR, it's always interesting to see my home parks from the eyes of someone who isn't a local.
Top Thrill Dragster
^ The trims are permanent magnetic breaks. So no matter what, the train will be trimmed.
Six Flags Enthuseast
You definitely notice the trims on the first hill and some of the brake runs. I do wish they could just find out what caused the problem (a little too late, I suppose?) and they could fix it. Maybe they could have a talk with Intamin and try to update the ride? Better trains with lap-bars instead of those crappy OTSR's would be MUCH MUCH better, too!
Top Thrill Dragster
The first hill is not trimmed. The strait away leading to the loop and the block break before the bunny hills are the only places where Screamin is trimmed. Intamin from my understanding has disowned Screamin because Disney made modifications to the ride and did not consult them first.
Six Flags Enthuseast
It's time to start DAY 2: SFMM! Just a quick description of the day before we get started: We begin at Carrows with a nice yummy pancake, bacon, and toast breakfast. We head out to the park and discover that it is over 95*F! Very, very, almost unbearably hot! However, we just brush that fact aside and try to enjoy our day. We do many of the parks premier rides including X2, Viper, Goliath, Deja Vu, and Tatsu. We also get our first Log Jammer credit. It sounds like a normal day at SFMM, but wait until you see some of the random crap that happened! Now it's our turn! Find out tomorrow how much we enjoyed X2 and more! Thanks agian for reading! Patrick Filled with very happy riders! Almost ready! Wow, 30 minutes for X2! Not bad at all. ..empty track. Full track... "Is everybody in? IS EVERYBODY IN!?!?!?" We got into the station building to learn that the lockers only worked for X. We'd have to leave and put our stuff in X2 lockers! They had 2 trains out, one was on the transfer. Flippy flippy! One was painted original X colors, one was painted grey. Still waiting.... This reminds me of another pic I've seen before online. Except it was X instead of X2. Could this its twin? Hmm.... Looking at an Arrow from the station building of another Arrow. (Can you notice I'm getting tired?) Even the staff at SFMM know that X2 isn't a "new ride"! But will I like "X: The Retheme?" On RCT2, they make X look really high off the ground. In reality, it's almost touching it! Xoom! Noted! Do you find the number of X2 queue photos and their content unnecessary? Well FEAST UPON MY SHORTS! (Taken from one of my fellow classmates) More empty queue. THERE! And you said Arrow's never had balls? Actually, they have brake fins, so technically they don't have 'balls.' (If you know what I mean.) Mid-course brakes. Viper = Type LR for "Lightly Rough." So, were you paying attention during the "Type A-Type X" speech? Good! Because here is a test! Xample one is one of the Veruca Salt girls after grunge ended, Xample 2 is Steve Irwin, and Xample 3 is Middle Aged Big Mike and his fax machine collection! Xtreme to the Second Viper. More Utah passing over. Isn't it funny how much Utah is loved by SFMM? (and Jahan!) The lift hill is a lot quieter than when it was X. X almost deafened me with the anti-rollbacks, but they get quieter and quieter every ride it seems. THANK YOU UTAH! You don't need to tell us! We know that S&S took over Arrow in 2002 and wanted to make X better. So they revamped the train, repainted the track, reproduced some of the lift components (so it wouldn't go into SBNO like in 2006) and revamped the queue. We've been watching since late 2007, and I even rode the ride in 2005. We know the difference between X and X2! Am I X enough? Maybe....... Noted! (Whatever it says) Queue vending = EPIC WIN! If you are: Corbin Blu attempting to commit suicide (who could blame him, High School Musical does that kind of stuff to you!), a random crazy guy who likes to stand on top of a flying byplane, a guy who smoked too close to the Ring of Fire while riding a dirt bike, or a guy who is riding his dirt bike in front of S:TE doing stunt stuff, you are Type X! Empty queue = EPIC WIN! If you are: Dereck with taped glasses, Dan playing chess, Robb on a motorcycle, or Elissa on a scooter, you are Type A! X2 ascending its lift.... are you ready? Mist things not working. On a scorching day like this? FAIL! You're getting sleepy, Jahan.... VVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRYYYY SSSSLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPYYYYYYYYYY............... You can see a lot of crap from the bridge to X2. More Arrow loopage. Wait, breaking news! Jahan just bought a winning lottery ticket for $1,000,000 when he went to Wal-Mart to buy a box of tissues! In fact, he can buy another 578,336 boxes with all that money! He'll need them, because I have plenty more Arrow shots where that came from! X...X...X...2...2...2....SSSsssSSSsss..... Sky Tower is one of my favorite tower rides ever! I like it almost better than the Space Needle because of its location! =b More of the "Coaster Wall of Fame." Zoom! Snickers things. Whatever. BLAH! The "SFMM Coaster Wall of Fame" thing. I pesonally think it's kinda cool, but for what reason is it there? Just to commemorate the many SFMM coasters? Jahan is drooling right now... me too! Broken sunglass lense! You know me, I have to post EVERYTHING random I find. Baja Ridge. You have a problem with that? Revolution's turnaround. Notice the track down further is clean, the track towards the top needs to be painted again. Flags. KidTums was complaining on Thursday when she only got her Grand Carousel credit twice. LOL! Revolution speeds through its loop! (Cheesy, isn't it?) More flags, more fun! TM Canadians apparently like SFMM. "And now we find a dragon?!?!? What the heck!?!?" "Ok, aside from the 'barely acceptable amount of wetness', here are some of the things that happened on Log Jammer: 1) A moment of ejector airtime. 2) Small splash war. 3) Random stuffed animals and characters tied around a tree on one of the turnarounds! Overall, Lucario approved awesomeness!" It's dual stationed, but one side wasn't operating. This is one of the oldest rides in the park.... Still looks pretty nice, though. Noted! The "Big Tree" shaped thing. (Sidenote: When we last visited in 2007, we were walking along all calm and happy when this tree guy jumped out! He looked just like the one at SFGAd when Robb and Elissa were there for El Toro! He scared the heck out of me mom and dad! xD) Dallas once licked this lucky mofo's butt! Hey, whatever happened to Dallas and Bethany, anyways? My 2nd (I think) Arrow Flume credit ever. The 1st one was at Silverwood. Wait.... This is an Arrow, right? Yeah, I don't do a good job posing.... Johnny Rocket's Snakes and Pi...... COUGH COUGH...... Shakes and Fries was open, as usual. Metro's station. They were playing crappy N*SYNC music. YUCK! I see a poster in this picture that *REALLY* needs to be updated! (Can't recognize the ride? Roaring Rapids) "I'mmmmm too sexy for yo love!" Another *OLD* poster. *ONE* of these posters needs to be updated...... Another old ride that hasn't operated since about the 2001-2003 period. =( This just made me really sad, because it was still there when I last visited..... A moment of scilence, please.... =( But all the niceness would be ruined when...... The very nice SFMM entrance plaza. The ticket checker on the left misses Flashback, just like me. =( Entrance gates. "You know me. I have a thick coat of fur, so I have to find every way possible to beat this heat!" It looks like we WILL get our Arrow credit after all. Noted! I approve of SFMM entrance! We know X2 is open.... the question is: Will we get our #2 Arrow credit? That thing will be opening soon! THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!! (If you can't read what it says, it says "give it back".) Another Colossus shot. Colossus is running the track I've never ridden today! Hey Mr. Superman! The turnaround, for the many coaster-porn addicts. G'day mate, Goliath. The best of the 3 B&M's at the park. Hi, Scream! The "classic" SFMM parking lot view. YES!! WE'RE FINALLY HERE!! X...X...X...2...2...2......SSSsssSSSssSSssss...... (One of the weird ride and queue audio effects for you to whisper to yourself.) The awesome SFMM Skyline. Almost there! Hungry yet? SOOOOO Delicious!
rcroques
About Log Jammer, that dual loading station hasn't operated with both sides for about as long as I've been going to the park. You'll also notice that Jet Stream has a dual drop. I've never seen that operate either. Tatsu has dual loading and I've seen it run like that once in all the time it's been operating. Sincerely, R.C.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^I'm not surprised that Log Jammer's dual station hasn't operated for a while. It doesn't get the good crowds that other Arrow log flumes get. Jet Streams second drop is for storage, I think. I've never seen it link to the other track before. Tatsu's dual station only operates on extremely crowded days, it never operated the dual station when we were there.

When I worked there, we basically got told that it used to be a dual drop but now they only use one of the flumes. At the top and the bottom of the drop, you can tell that it used to connect. It's just two metal rails that separate it from the other. Log Jammer still gets decent crowds, as do all the rides. It's just not quite the weather for it recently. Sincerely, R.C. Jerrykoala2112
I really enjoyed your pictures....your captions are pretty creative. The best pictures are with your blue Pokemon. It doesn't really fit in with the SFMM theme which makes it sooo funny! I wish you got me some maps of the parks you visited on this trip
Six Flags Enthuseast
^Dang, you are REALLY exited for those maps! I have ones of SFMM, DL, and KBF. I can't find the DCA maps, but I'll send them later if I find them.
Six Flags Enthuseast
Ok, here's Part 2 of DAY 2: SFMM. Where shall we go next? Since I'm leaving for the weekend, you'll have to figure out later. See you later! Patrick SFE Goldrusher rushes by! (Another cheap comment) I like old, broken, SBNO monorails. They give a good view of nostalgia from the past..... Man, this park had one hell of a past! I could probably touch that if I got all the way to the right and jumped really hard. (THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!) Jahan is remembering his days back in the 80's....... old, rough Arrows today were new and smooth! The swinger was a brand new concept. Arrow was FAR from bankruptcy...... He's like "Man, those were the days!" "I think the price is a bit steep, but I really hope I can get my Thrill Shot credit this trip!" It's an Oriental themed light..... HURRAH!!! There's just something about this picture...... They look like real ice. They even feel kinda cold! "Superman is now my favorite superhero! Go Intamin!" The return trip sounds the same. It makes a sort of weird humming noise as it launches..... for some reason, it makes me think of plutonium or something that has to do with nuclear radiation. Proof that Superman: The Escape launches you straight into afterlife! If you don't see the blue light, you just stay in California. Looking through the doors. Angry me and the purple S:TE queue lights are going to come to your house and kill your firstborn child! Even though it's only 97* here, poor Afghans are burning up at 1600*. Don't! Walk! Towards! The! Bright! Light!! Hey, I never heard anything about a blue light... Proof that you need to see a blue light before entering heaven! How could the famous Fortress of Solitude survive California temperatures? Besides, isn't it in Antartica or something? The slanted entrance. I do not understand those random Superman S things. Are they for color or something? Or were they just random junk the park put in in 1997 to make the plaza look better? Nobody knows...... Soon to be one of Lucario's favorite superheros. Big Superman S is pretty cool. Time for 0-100mph: The Lie! All kinds of B&M coolness. Remember, though the Pretzel Loop sucked, I still count it as a good ride because of the other awesomeness the ride has to offer. I find the name of this place kinda pointless. Superman in Suicide position. That was probably one of the better parts of the ride. Gate that used to lead to the Oriental gardens! (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) No thanks..... IDK why I skipped out, but I just did. CRAP! Closed for the day... A view some thought wouldn't be here after Tatsu....... (you know, when many speculated that Sky Tower may be demolished? Heck, it got pretty close to that during the construction of the pond!) NOTED! My dad's favoritest ride ever: Tram: The Ride! Nerdy B&M switch track. For you, Mr. Creator (of this website). You can't fool me! It looks a lot like Goliath and is a Giovanola, but we all know it's Titan! Wait, it says that on the screen..... Dad said he actually lost some of his change (OH! OH! I HEARD THE WORD CHANG!! OH!!) on Tatsu last visit here. Sigh..... we earn yet another typical GP experience. Poor people don't know what kind of crap they're about to go through. I just went doggie, and I prefered it much more on Ultimate Flight than on Tatsu! Now I know it wasn't just my weak body in 2007...... Them people are abouts tos goes doggie! All the technical doggie-style positon crap is visable in this shot. So much twisted awesomeness, you could go nuts! Only that twist called the Pretzel Loop ruined it all for me. =( "...Patrick warned me about this..." Roaring Rapids was operating today! Too bad we didn't go on it. And it was, like, the perfect day to do it! OMG! KETTLE CORN!! Yes, it is, in fact, fresh, cold, bottled water. "I'm sitting on a table! Isn't life fantastic?" I remember this restroom! Like really, it's kinda weird that I remember a random park restroom. Hey! Look at all those benefits of getting a season pass! Maybe I should go ge........... oh, nevermind. Revolution....... Actually smooth for being made almost 40 years ago. So we begin our trek to the back of the park. Honestly, I'm not sure what to think of that ride. It was rough, but not intolerably rough. It was intense, but not too intense........ Just right. Jahan just dropped dead on the floor. His final words were "Damn that's sexy!" Nope..... NOW our chariot awaits us! Klunk kla klunk! Klunk kla klunk! Our chariot awaits us! One for the index (pardon me, it is a little slanted). Spazz Attack M&M doesn't know what to think over all the ice cream! Just watch it. It is VERY sexy, indeed! Who wouldn't agree? That's where we're headed next. Thank's X2! You're the best Arrow ever! It's pretty rare to find a ride that makes me cringe like that! Hmm...... NOTED! Num num! Half-half yumminess is really cool, though it would've been better with fire on. It didn't go on for our ride. =( "It's kinda rough for being only 7 years old, but it's still amazing!" "I approve of this AWESOME S&S/Arrow ride!" As you can see, the answer to the question "Will I like X2?" is yes. Who wouldn't?
Team Thriller
You should have ridden Ninja. That is one of my favorites at Magic Mountain and one of my favorite Arrows. So much fun and very smooth. IMO, it's much better than BBW. --James
