sfkk339 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Well one thing to say is that this park was excellent! It had a great atmosphere, great themes and mostly great rides! Now before I get on with the pictures and how awesome the park was I have only 2 complaints with this park. 1)The food service was horrid, you pay 17 bucks for some food then you have to wait 45min for it (not kidding) 2) The locker rule is so stupid, On all the coasters you have to pay 1 dollar to put ANY loose items in, no exceptions. So basically you have to pay a buck to ride a coaster after you have already paid 40 dollars to get in, 30 on drinks and food now that. I couldn't get really good pictures of the Boss or Eviel Kenievel because of it....but lets get on to the Pictures!!!!!!! You know the day is going to be great when a B&M invert greets you early in the morning! Entrance Fountian Ticketing Area/entrance The first ride of the day is Batman The Ride and it was excellent! I have a new favorite B&M! Great Gotham City themeing Mr.Freeze is next! This ride totally rocked! It was a great coaster and is a must ride when coming here. Mr.Freeze's station http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTdla1z1QMo...re=channel_page It was really cool watching the launching process. THE GCI was next and it was yet another excellent ride! The ferries wheel. Mr.Freeze over the trees! Tony Hawks big spin is a spinning wild mouse, it was a ok ride.... Good but short layout. Its been so long! Excellent ride. Ah, Yes the classic Screamin Eagle! View of The Boss in the Screamin Eagle station Great air-time loaded woody! River King Mine Train was sort-of like all mine except faster and it had a awesome ending. The Boss, most people hate it but I love it. At night its a incredible experience. Ninja was a decent Arrow, I sorta enjoyed it. Choo Choo! River King Mine Ride Awesome GCI goodness! Ninja at sunset. Batman at sunset. The Boss This has to be one of the best thrill rides ever. Thanks for looking! Six Flags St.Louis was great and I have to stop by there again some time!
spaceace12 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Nice photos..... As for you complaints. The food service....Eat at Mooseburger Lodge. Great Cheeseburger (or Bacon Cheeseburger) and you get waffle fries and a couple onion rings(for about 13 dollars and get an ice water that is free). Also, the lockers....they are not required on all coasters. Mr. Freeze and Screamin Eagle do not require lockers, there are bins inside the station. Also, I have never been troubled by the locker policy....why, because I take the bare min, into parks. I put a car key, my debit car, my season pass, my drivers license and a little cash into a baggy. It sits nicely inside my pocket. When I am ready to take pictures, I head back out to my car (or a locker that I rented at the front of the park) and take my pictures/video in one lap as I get ready to leave. I also went up EK exit line to get pictures when I wanted them. Also I wouldn't say Tony Hawk a spinning wild mouse. It is a spinning coaster...and a good one at that. Quite fun actually.
ArizonaGuy Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Nice pics. Looks like it was somewhat of a cloudy day but glad you had a good time at the park. I went to SFStL last year and it was an ok experience. Evel K. was probably my favorite coaster in the park. The absolute worst in the park had to be Ninja. I swear they were running it with square wheels last season. The only complaint I have with the park is that it had looked pretty run down. Hopefully it got some TLC on the off season in the way of fixing rotting wood on some buildings and PAINT! The other thing that looked REALLY generic was the metal detectors that were set up at the front of the park. Either make a permanent check point or put the metal detectors behind the ticket takers like at SFFT. Anyways......thanks again for the pics. Was the water park open yet?
tanthonyam Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I have been wanting for years to ride that Evolution/Xcalibur/Imperator ride. I never got the chance when it was at Great Adventure. Was closed (no surprise there). I am glad they are keeping the ride here and it is very reliable now, and with nice theming! I just wish the ride cycle was better. I heard it is too short and saw a few You-tube videos of it.
paintballer Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Man, SFSTL's Mr. Freeze's station sucks compared to SFoT's...
THE ONE Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Man, SFSTL's Mr. Freeze's station sucks compared to SFoT's... Yeah but it doesn't suck as much as the color on Mr Freeze at SFOT.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Yeah, I agree the colour scheme on SFOT's Mr Freeze is kinda odd. Bring back good ol' classic "cool blue"! I've never been on a Fabbri Evolution type ride before. What's it like? You lay on your back right?
Der Der Dongt Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Wow! Are you talking about the same SFSTL I have been to? Because I thought the place really sucked and left around 2 pm. Well at least you had a good time there and got to ride Xcalibur.
MidtownCoaster Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Thanks for the pics. I usually see SFStL get bashed in a lot of threads, so it was good to see a positive review of it!
DBru Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Great TR! I agree with every one of your thoughts about the park. I visited in April for the first time since 2000, and found SFStL to be a great place---excellent rides, operations, and atmosphere. Xcalibur is certainly an...interesting...ride. It looks great, and everyone in the area stops to watch the ride when it cycles. Problem is, the cycle is WAY too short. It begins sort of like a Gravitron, spinning very fast and pinning you to your seat. Then, the gondolas start to rise, as the pendulum makes its way over the top. When you reach the top of the ride, it is one of the strangest (and coolest) sensations ever! But that ends after 3 seconds, and then you make your way back to the ground---the ride ends. Xcalibur has so much potential, but just wastes it. What would make the ride much better would be to program it so that it goes over the top multiple times, or make it stop at the very top for at least 15 seconds; that would be terrifying. SFStL has one of the best collection of woodies I've ever seen. (And yes, I've been to Holiday World, Hershey Park, Kings Island, and Indiana Beach.) Evel Knievel is my favorite GCI, with constant speed and airtime. The Boss is my favorite CCI, with its high laterals, speed, airtime, and a constant out-of-control feeling. And Screamin' Eagle is my favorite PTC, because it contains all of the above. Also, I was pretty darn impressed with Mr. Freeze's station...very nice theming (for Six Flags, anyway).
