mpclinton22 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I'm planning on going to Kings Island this coming week. As of right now I am definitely going on Saturday the 25th, but was also thinking about going Friday the 24th. I was just wanted to see if people think it will be worth it to spend the extra money for the two day pass, as well as what people think the crowds will be like on Saturday. It's my first time to Kings Island so I'm not familiar with the park or what days are busy, etc. Thanks!
tedten Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I've sadly only visited KI once so far so I'm sure you'll get great advice from others but I wouldn't think you would need a 2-day pass unless you're interested in many re-rides. I went with a group that brought food along so we had to walk out the parking lot 2 different times during the day and we were parked very far away. It was a saturday in July, peak season. Even with all these factors against us we rode all the coasters including Flight of Fear and the Beast twice. This time of year I would assume crowds will be lighter. Can others confirm this? Diamondback will be most likely take a load off the other lines in it's opening season. I'd either hit SOB and Firehawk as your first two rides (due to low capacity) or hit Diamondback and the Beast at opening and then work your way around the other credits. IMPORTANT: However you do it the key to any Kings Island trip is making sure you ride the Beast at least twice, once in daylight and then as your very last ride. I believe they always soft-close so you can sneak into the que just before closing.
Reon Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 ^Last year, they normally closed the line for Beast about 15 minutes before the park closed. A dark ride on Beast is DEFINATELY a must for any KI visit. As far as your question, I'd say one day is enough, as long as its a full day's visit. Diamondback should have most of the lines since it's the new ride, but I'd suspect that Crypt and Beast will get some buisness since they are also good rides in the same area. Hopefully Diamondback will take lines away from Firehawk this year. If not, HIT FIREHAWK FIRST! Over the last 2 years, it had the longest line in the park.
PKI Jizzman Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I'll be working...or visiting! I'll let you know! --JZ
Homeboy23 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Is the park open on Friday the 24th??? According to the website from 5pm to 10. You might want to hit Invertigo first also as it could get a long line.
mpclinton22 Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks to everyone for the advice! It turns out we're gonna be going Friday night as well as Saturday! That way I can get as much out of what will probably be my only chance to visit K.I! Hopefully I'll be able to get on everything, and chances are that with the extra time Friday night the crowds should be light and it should give me plenty of time to do everything. Are there any flats in particular that I should definitely ride?
DBru Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 ^^The Crypt, Drop Tower, and Delirium are all great flats. I'm also heading to the park on Saturday, but I've run into a dilemma...for my final ride of the night, should I go for the Beast, or Diamondback? Also, what seat should I take my night ride in?
mpclinton22 Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 DBru, based on what everyone has been saying I'd go with the Beast for the nighttime ride. MOD EDIT- Removed reference to weird, creepy spam.
coolhandluke Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 ^&^^^I plan to be there as well tomorrow to open my season up. For flats, I'd suggest most all of the large ones--Drop Tower, Delirium, The Crypt (the theming sucks, but the ride is great), and the water rides depending on the weather (which sounds like it could be a real possibility given the forecast). I also enjoy Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle and Avatar in Nick U. The most intense on-ride photo I've ever had was taken on Scooby, as my friends and I were completely fixed on those stupid targets.
mpclinton22 Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 I'm really excited to finally get to go to KI tomorrow! I've heard great things about this park! I definitely will have to get over to the Beast to ride that at night, and will make Diamondback one of my top priorities as all I've heard about it has been great things! I was definitely going to ride Delirium as well because I went on maXair at Cedar Point and it is probably my all time favorite flat ride! Drop Tower looks like so much fun too, and the Crypt is a top-spin, right? Again, thanks for all the help!
DBru Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 ...and the Crypt is a top-spin, right? A GIANT top spin.
