Speeddeamon128 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Today I flew a plane for the second time in my life. It was really enjoyable. The flight was an hour & we could see Philly along with a couple of forest fires. Marcus was my instructor for the day. He had a lot of flight time so I wasn't that nervous. Here is a shot of the plane with me in the back. Nose close up! Myspace pic! Preparing for take off. Here are some air pics. I tried to get a shot of the Philly sky line but the camera wouldn't focus. Another air pic. You can see one of the forest fires to the right. I took a few second video clips I just need to upload them to Coastertube. Thanks for reading!
Kennyweird Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I envy you. Its always been a dream of mine to fly a plane, even if it's only a small taildragger like the one you flew.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 ^You might envy me even more since the flight was free Here is the video of todays flight! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Flying_NEW_q2qi[/coastertube]
spaceace12 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Where I live is about 300 feet away from an airport where student pilots fly. When they land, they fly about 20 feet above my house, sorta scary.
Wood Dragon 1988 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Wow, I would never, ever, ever fly a plane. Skydiving, yes, flying, HELL NO!
ebl Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Since we're lucky enough to have an airport in our city, I hope someday to learn to fly. They offer lessons; I see ads all the time in the local papers. It's really cool that you got to do it already! Eric
TheStig Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Woo a Citabria!! Did you do any aerobatics at all?? Those things are aerobatic trainers, I mean read Citabria backwards! That's really cool, flying is definitely a passion of mine.
gerd.muller Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hey Matt, great pics! But I think, the words "Cabin crew prepare for landing!" got a whole new meaning now! Gerd
paintballer Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Fun Fun. I outta do a TR next time I take my Dad's J-3 Cub up! Are you intrested in getting a license or was this just a just for fun thing?
Kennyweird Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 My uncle has partial ownership of a small Cessna, but I've never gotten to fly with him.
odene497 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I need to go flying again. A few years ago I did a "Discovery Flight" at my local airport for $50. I got to learn about the plane some (Cessna Skyhawk 172), and got to take off and fly around for a good 45 minutes or so. It would seem to me like the tail wheel planes are more difficult to maneuver while on the ground. How was it? And how'd you do it for free? I'm hoping to start actual Private Pilot training in the fall.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Someone at my Mom's work new a pilot who asked her if I was interested in flying again.
