PhishyBrewer Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Did a little marathon with my body today. Worked the midnight shift at the brewery. Went home at 7am, left for lunch around 10:30, stopped at work to visit some old friends, drank some beer, got some cheese, went to the beach, went to Six Flags Marine World, had pizza, and now at midnight, I’m typing up a trip report. I’ll go to sleep soon… after I finish this. Enjoy! Damn! That's going to be hot. What are you guys up to? The Solano County Fair was also taking place across the street. A Saturday, in July, and still only running 2 trains... WTF! Silhouette of Kong as the sun goes down. Another shot of V2 Another shot of ROAR! KONG! Karen's first ride EVER on a Vekoma. She said she really liked it. A Vekoma Boomerang not running... wow, that's a shocker! Gavin loves SFMW... alright, your going to the doctor there little man. V2.2 Roar! Zonga... will it ever run again? Ahh... Six Flags Marine World. Gavin loves the ocean. Is Gavin going for some cheese, or my wallet? Time for some cheese. No Gavin! You can not ride the clydesdale. Nothing says "I love you" like a cold, clean, crisp Budweiser. Now I know I drank to much. My buddy Auggie! When to work to taste a little beer. Yummy, lobster for lunch!
crispy Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 hey show this to your boss, bonus for product placement, lol Very cool tr Did you actually eat that pizza after that, yeah hot is an understatment Man I really hope they get Zonga running again, they should just put it back the way it was supposed to be, and not messed with the loops, damn six flags oh well, maybe they'll sell it and someone will get it going again
Erik Johnson Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Thanks for the great TR. You have some nice pictures there.
PhishyBrewer Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 ^Thanks! I love taking pictures right before sunset. They just come out so good... sometimes. And Crispy, with a pitcher of Budweiser by myside, I did end up eating that pizza. Im' sure I feel it when I'm on the toilet this morning.
PkiJake Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 What did Six Flags do to Zonga, what did they do to the loops? -Jake
crispy Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 the reprofiled the loops and made them a bit bigger, so the ride wouldn't be as intense and basically screwed up the ride good job losers
PkiJake Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Could they be brought back to thier original sizes?? -Jake
Mind Eraser Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I think Six Flags raised the drop so that the trains had less energy/speed going through the loops. Can the loops be restored to their original configuration? Sure, anything's possible, but why would Six Flags do that? I think Six Flags is gonna scrap Zonga (I'm glad I got to ride it as Taz in SFAW!)
PhishyBrewer Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 Has anyone else heard the rumor about NEW trains being built for Zonga, and that is why it's going to be down for the rest of the year? One train still sits in the sation, and the other one I saw down below Roar completely stripped. Tried to get a picture, but the back of the train on Roar was a little rough yesterday.
Mind Eraser Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Don't they have a Schwarzkopf train sitting in Vallejo (From when SF bought PGA's Greased Lightnin')? Or did they send that to SFoG for Mindbender? -kip-
Hattuchili Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Hey Wally, great pictures! That looks likeyou had a great day at the brewery and SFMW. I really like the picture of your son, in the middle of the two big bottles! He looked so cute! --Sören
Mr.Six Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 ^Well, there was a rumor that Zonga would get all new trains. But so far that rumor dosen't appear to be happenning. It really would be a shame to see Zonga turned into scrap metal, seeing as its a Schwarzkopf. BTW: nice TR! Some of those photos turned out great! Looks like you guys had fun! Michael"Schwarzkopfs own!"Thomas
PhishyBrewer Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 Don't they have a Schwarzkopf train sitting in Vallejo (From when SF bought PGA's Greased Lightnin')? Or did they send that to SFoG for Mindbender? -kip- No, it's still sitting there. Taking up space in the already small parking lot.
Stitch Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Nice trip report, did you ride the largest coaster there ... Cobra . I have seen many Vekoma valleys, when Vampire was at SFKK it would valley all the time.
WalrusMan Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Oh my.....please SFMW, even if you don't own Greezed Lightning anymore, steal the train and put it on Zonga.
ebl Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I've never had the chance to ride Zonga, but to me it's sad that they took a classic Schwarzkopf portable coaster and turned it into crap. What was wrong with the ride in its original configuration? Too much g-force? I hope SFMW does get Zonga running again. It's been six years since I went there and would like to get back up there and ride this thing. Even once. Eric
PhishyBrewer Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 ^I have never seen Zonga run, ever. I would like to see it run, let alone, I would like to ride it. I'm starting to become a credit whore
