SLUSHIE Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 There is a new update coming out for the PSP, V2.0. The new update includes a bunch of new stuff, but there is 1 major one, 1 cool one, and a few neat ones. The Major One - Web Browser. V2.0 will include a full featured web browser. I know that there is basicly alreadty one, for thise who own Wipeout, but it can't do everything. The PSP web browser will allow you to browse the web, but also download, wich you can't do with wipeout. You can save images and dowload videos and play them, as long as they are MP4. The Cool One - Image Sharing You will be able to link 2 PSPs together and trade pictures. I wish you were also alowed to swap music and videos, maybe in a later update. I think Sony is trying to play is safe with piracy You can see the whole updates, including the not mention neat ones, here. http://psp.ign.com/articles/635/635505p1.html *edit* (Sorry for all the stupid errors, I'm freakin' dyslexic, and I don't feel like fixing them.)
maliboomer Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I would never use the web browser feature. Ever.
robbalvey Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 That is AWESOME! I have been waiting for the web browser to come out! I can't tell you how many times I've been sitting in an airport or someplace that had a 'hotspot' and it would be cool to check email or look at the forum or something. I would use the browser all the damn time! I am constantly checking areas for a connection to my PSP and going "damn, if the browser was out, I could read TPR at Panera Bread!" --Robb "Who uses the PSP more for watching movies than playing games!" Alvey
maliboomer Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Lol, my constantly obsolete mind was thinking it would need to be plugged into a modem.
SLUSHIE Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 The college I go to has a hotspot. I havent actualy used it yet because I'm just in and out for classes, but when fall semester starts I'm sure I will use it all the time. I heard we have a game club here, so it would be so much fen to hang out in the quad playing games, that is if they have PSPs. *edit* Also the area I live in has so many unencrypted wireless networks it's not even funny. I was ant my friends appartment complex and did a scan and found about 12 open networks.
YoshiFan Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 That's cool it will get a web browser. Now all Sony needs to do is release the system without all those useless accessories in the "value pack" and I'll get one.

I'll get one when I have enough dough and when Sony could release FLASH with this browser. -Carl "Hopes for no popups or ads... Note to Sony: FIREFOX!" F.
DeliriumTrigger Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I've been holding back on buying a PSP...but this sold me. Just picked up a used one from gamestop. Now all I need is the memory stick to get the update
SLUSHIE Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 --Robb "Who uses the PSP more for watching movies than playing games!" Alvey What kind of movies do you watch? IDK how many people oh here have PSPs, but it would be totaly awsome if you offered videos in MP4 for download.
DeliriumTrigger Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 This seems like the best place of any to ask...has anyone seen the connection error (80110482) thing? I keep getting one, and I can't seem to figure out why. I was able to connect just fine last night, but now its dead.

IDK how many people oh here have PSPs, but it would be totaly awsome if you offered videos in MP4 for download. At the moment I have like 20 Family Guy episodes and Office Space on memory sticks. I actually did do some work putting our segments on MP4 format for the PSP. They looked GREAT! But the bandwidth was really expensive! Hmm...maybe it's something I can look into doing for "members only." Might help keep the bandwidth down a bit. I'm a little worried that if Google picked up TPR for "PSP Movies." While it would be GREAT for the traffic, it would be bad for the bandwidth, and probably wouldn't be the traffic we want....just people coming to download PSP stuff. --Robb "I'll re-think it for the members only board!" I get that all the time in my room, but if I move closer to my router it works fine.
Wes Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 For those of you with PSPs, how easy/difficult is text entry, if it's there at all? Like how hard would it be to compose this post using the PSP browser.

Thanks, I'll try that. For those of you with PSPs, how easy/difficult is text entry, if it's there at all? Like how hard would it be to compose this post using the PSP browser. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is a phone's entry system. You scroll to the different blocks and hit X several times to get to your letter. The PS2 text entry would be much easier, where all you have to do is scroll to a block and then each key becomes a letter.
SLUSHIE Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 Yes, it is a lot like how its done for a phone, but there are shortcuts to make things easier. The soulder buttons are forward and back spaces. One of the buttons it for capital/lowercase, another for just numbers/letters and so on. when you get it down, it can be really fast.

Wes Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I'm finally pretty good at doing text messages now so I'm sure I'd be a quick learn on the PSP. Hmmm...now to find some extra money...
DeliriumTrigger Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 And the PSP just keeps getting better...someone is developing AIM and MSN scripts to run on the PSP. http://pspaim.com/ http://pspmsn.com/ And IRC for the PSP is already out. http://pspirc.com/
SLUSHIE Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 PSP is now 100% (or so) cooler. It's out now in Japan, and if you in the US, you can grab it here. http://psp.ign.com/articles/637/637073p1.html Enjoy, i have been.
Hattuchili Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 All the PSP stuff sounds very cool. I am thinking of it to buy one! I have tested Robb´s PSP on the Europen Trip and that was so great! In Europe you can get the PSP at 1.September and it will cost 250,- Euro! How much cost the PSP in the US? --Sören
Hattuchili Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 That is not really a better price! I thought it is much cheaper there! --Sören
SLUSHIE Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 People say that the PSP is really expensive. But for me it jst keeps getting more and more worth it. If your going to buy one you might want to wait for the white version... that is if you want it to be white, otherwise just get the black one.
