Yesterday my girlfriend and I took her daughter miniature golfing at Old Pro Golf in Ocean City, MD, and while I didn't really intend for it to be a TR, I determined today that I had more than enough photos to make one. So I did. It's nothing Earth-shattering, but I figured there's nothing wrong with a few more fun pictures, especially during the off-season. Enjoy!

Alas, I'm trying to make myself more aerodynamic for the West Coast Trip, so a plain McSalad was my choice of the evening. Thus ended an otherwise enjoyable day!

But her absolute favorite was the token-dispensing slot machines. Afterward, we went to our favorite restaurant....

...and pinball. The 75 cents we put in this machine was the closest we came to spending $1 or more on any single game. Funny how everything that cost $1-$2 to play was "out of order" that day....

...horseback riding (these things were the best because we didn't even have to put money in--until she can read, the phrase "Insert Coins" means nothing to her!)...

...motorcycle riding...

Of course, there was also Whack-a-Shark...

Which Lauryn enjoyed.

Like these 1930s-'40s Skee-Ball machines.

Next we were off to Marty's Playland, where we played some of the oldest (and newest) still-operating coin-operated games in the United States.

And... OK, so I don't really get what Frankenstein's monster has to do with an "undersea adventure," but he was there, so we took his picture.

And the pirate skeleton.

The final score: me-34, girlfriend-54, Lauryn-126. After accepting the fact that we weren't playing again, Lauryn took consolation in the fact that she could at least pose with the mermaid.

Of course, none of us got this. In fact, I've been playing this course for about a dozen years, and I've only gotten it once.

So that's what happened to the octopus that was cut from "The Goonies"!

Notice most of the "greens" are blue to simulate ocean water (or most people's idea of what ocean water looks like, anyway). The only green "greens" are atop a mountain island in the middle of the course, which presumably is rising above sea level.

Overall, the course is very well themed.

I'd like to say she's imitating the orange fish on the left... but in reality, we told her Shamu was going to poop on her while she was standing beneath him. Some kids get a college savings account. Lauryn has a therapy savings account.

You'll notice in the preceding two photos, even if she isn't exactly holding the putter correctly, the head is at least facing the right way. That would be the only two times that happened all day, as this was her preferred stance.

On a few holes she legitimately putted a 3 or 4. Most of the time, however, her score was 8 or above. Her record was 23 strokes on a single hole.

Here she is, shooting for 14....

Lauryn squared off against the diver on the first hole. This was her first miniature golfing experience.

Upon our arrival we checked out some of the dinosaurs out front. Though the weather warmed up a little this weekend, it was nowhere near warm enough to consider outdoor golf, so we went...

Ask Michael Bay, and he might ask you for a good script involving it.

Looks like a great off-season day!

I love it, that place looks like a hoot, I hope Happy Gilmore never finds that place - "you die, T-Rex!", "you die, Orca!", "you die, Frankenstein!".

Thanks for the PTR.

Nice TR. The mini-golf course looks very well themed. Probably one of the best I've seen.

I was just watching someone play skeeball on the Wii, and I wondered how long ago they originated. I thought in the 1950s, but I guess 30s and 40s qualify them as old.

Sorry for the pointless post by the way

That TR was all kinds of awesome! My wife and I played that course in 2003. It was her first visit to the Delmar area and I took her down to Ocean City for a couple of days. I miss Ocean City a ton. Thanks!

Cool. Out of the 50 mini-golf courses in Ocean City, I actally went to that one a few years ago. My favorite part is the section on top of and inside the cavern.

I have to get back to that place.
