Anfronee Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Holy Shit! That is impressive. I seriously need to work on my park sometime soon.
terrancew_hod Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Well I got home and worked a bit more on my coaster. I continued worked in the general Warrior Crypt/Haunted Pond area. I have several scenes overlapping in this general area, so I worked on trying to hide them from each other. So I don't have a lot of pictures, but pictures I have hide two very nasty surprises for our unsuspecting vic... err... guests! A tower sits on the edge of the haunted pond. What secrets does it hold? Is it a gateway to another dimension? Or from? There has been whispers that it is actually larger inside that it is outside, but no one has been brave enough to find out! What's the best way to hide transitions between scenes, especially ones that come later in the ride? Dark tunnels with evil ghosts! Or did we jump the track (or shark) and end up at Ghost Mine with everyone else that copied his ride? Our evil ghost host, starts making his appearance in various parts of the ride. I'm envisioning that you will hear him taunt you long before you see him... once you start seeing him it will be too late for you to turn back!
terrancew_hod Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Ok, it's time for a Friday update! Â Last night, I revisited this sad piece of real estate: Â Â I had already smoothed down the blocks but not much has happened to this area. Since I need to start closing this area up, I wanted to go back and add a few things... After I fix the other things below, it's back to work on this... the only way out is down? Again? Last look... Now to fix the walls around the Waterbearer statue... Do we need another splash down? I think this will exceed the minimum acceptable amount of wetness! I have to add lights but, the track-on-track trip makes this scene work even better. Now we have a little better entrance to the Waterbearer... looks like she's made the place a bit more cozy! Now let us put it all together now. Bye Bye demons! (We hope) A closer look. Then we build a proper escape route from Hell... First thing: Let make this save by the Waterbearer a little more splashy!
AlmereStars Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Waterfalls look great! I also like the use of your lightcolours  Is the trick you used chaning the Edit Stunnel.conf?? please say no, cause that trick won't work here and I want to do that too!
terrancew_hod Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 ^Nope. Just used the trick in the options.txt to put tracks on top of each other; it's not just for combining coaster tracks. Â EDIT: Pics should be "regulation" now...
PointeBreak Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Wow, awesome. This is going to be an all-time classic from the looks of it. Yeah guess it would bankrupt a park haha... though maybe stuff could be done with forced perspective/projections etc. *shrug* Â ^ What does that let you do? Let the coaster go from steel to wood and then back to steel? Or is it just you place say the wood track OVER the steel which makes the coaster look like it's travelling over wood? Â Hope you know what I'm on about, it's past 1am here.
themeparkman25 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 You should post a picture of the entire ride when your done. Zoom way out and take a picture of the entire ride. That would be interesting to see
terrancew_hod Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 @ PointeBreak: The option.txt trip allows you to overlay tracks so it looks like tracks intersect, one track type switches to another or in the case of the water, the track going into a underground river . Â @ themeparkman25 : I've taken a few overhead shots and there's a lot going on for a 5 minute ride. But when I showed my friends the amount of work on this park, their jaws dropped... and one begged me to fix his mac so he can get back to the game (Apple's quicktime update messed up the program.. so I upgraded him to Leopard and the last working version of Quicktime). Â I'm going to try to work on the park in a bit after a nap... but I've been going since 7:30 this morning upgrading so I need a little shuteye! Â Terry
terrancew_hod Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 Time for another quick update! Â I have a little mix of updated and new pics. Â I'm trying to add restaurants and work on the castle structure in front, so there aren't a lot of cute areas in front right now. I think I will put a few rides in the area as well to fill out the front as well. Now the splashdown area in Hell is properly filled in! "What manner of foul sorcery is this? It has an 8-track player!" Another overhead picture of the underground river. So far on this coaster, there are only two places you can safely take pictures. The first was outside in the courtyard, and this is the second. I'm planning on adding a few shops and seats for peeps for peeps sit down, eat and relax.
DBru Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I really like the underground river and the splashdown. Â Not big on the idea of putting rides in the front area, though. This is just a single-ride project, correct?
terrancew_hod Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 ^I doubt this will be a single ride project; and I think I can put a few indoor rides in the area without killing the themeing. These rides won't overshadow the main attraction of this "land", which is what I'm working on now.  But the overall park will consists of three main areas (so far), which still need some names:  * The village (includes the main street) * Sir Debbilyn's Castle (Where my "party" rides will be built) * Ruined Castle/Tomb (Featuring my "Cursed" coaster that I'm currently building)  There will be some flat rides in the haunted forest/area between the castles  Chances are these will be three separate parks due to the constraints of RCT3, but that's what I'm shooting for. I may not get that far in the work, but this is the scope of what I want to accomplish.  Terry
PointeBreak Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Wow. When do you expect to finish this? Â Will you release the Cursed coaster first or at least a video? Â It would be great if you could post some teasers.
terrancew_hod Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 I'm probably a few weeks away (at this rate) from getting enough together for any type of teaser. Between work, gym and my sad attempt at dating (just got off the phone with the BF, so there won't major changes to the ride tonight; I'll be on the crappy laptop again at his house instead of going home. He teases because he has the nice shiny Macbook and I got a crappy Dell! It's not fair!)... it's been slow going. But it gives me a chance to change parts I don't like and give more thought into how I want the ride to run. Â Another issue is I have to build some type of entrance into the park, so I can enable the free flying camera for the teaser. I haven't decided how much of the other sections to show, but it's more likely will be just the haunted woods and the bridge connecting to this attraction that will be available in this park file. Â I'm still toying around with the name of the dark ride, maybe something like "Fear: Escape of the Cursed".... yep, that's cheesy... but not as bad as my ripoff off Tomb Raider... Keisha Jones and the Tomb of Bounced Checks... I need some custom scenery for her character and Lil Ray-Ray... oh and her baby daddy. Â I had better luck with naming my Party themed rides, which will be my next project when I finished this. Those rides include the flagship dark ride/ coaster "Circuit:Alegria" (working on the mix now and version 1 of the track is finished,), drop ride "Down the G-Hole", and dark ride "Chill-ax". Also one of my friends may supply some trippy graphics to place in the rides... I'm not supplying glow sticks though. But I'll probably need to learn how to do custom scenery to add a few additional items. Â But I right now I'm focused on finishing this... I'm a Taurus.... 'nuff said. Â Terry
themeparkman25 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 How long as this taken? I have to say Ive never seen this amount of effort put in to a rct3 coaster. I dig it
PointeBreak Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 ^^ For the dark ride maybe Wet Screams???
terrancew_hod Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Well it's almost been a week since an update! Â I've been making more tweaks to the ride and enclosing more areas as well. Hopefully I will have more time this weekend to work on the ride. I need a good day at home to make any progress, and I'm not getting there when I'm on my old laptop. Luckily I'm trying to save up for a new one! Even an new Macbook would be better... but I'm shooting for a new Macbook Pro! Â Terry I've also added parts of the demon temple I've previously created to the ride. It was a bit long, so I had to cut out part of the back to make it fit. Another view of the crypt with the fake wall opening. Another room to close off and theme. We leave the sewer to the next area... But where does it lead... I think the soon-to-be victims will find out! I added a small sewer to take us even further down... Which way is up? Dark hallways are never a good thing. This looks familiar.... Boo! Another view of the loading station. Still a bit dark, but we're working our way through the first portion of the ride. This is one of the coffin rooms. Overhead view... Back to the castle... The car enters the courtyard... Here's a daytime testing pic from the courtyard. Notice the coaster in the background.
AlmereStars Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Still looks great Terrance! A suggestion to make the backyard some more detailed: Â With the Main Street #1 set comes a brick, you can use those to bring up the corners some more. It also makes it look more finished..kind of
terrancew_hod Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 ^I'll look into that. I'm still working through making buildings so any tips are greatly appreciated. Â Terry
terrancew_hod Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Well it's been a while since my last update! I've been still working to fill in the outside areas, though I forgot to look into the suggested brick! I'll try to do that for the next update: The church at night. I did a lot of work on the return back to the station. Now there is a beginnings of a church. Also I used some raft track to make a creek at the bottom. Heading back to the station. Inside the unfinished area. See anyone familiar? Overhead view... Another view of the bridge to the Dark Temple. The obligatory dive into the fire... Here's the lift into the first act... Lots of work needs to be done here! Another view Just to show the scope of what I've done, this is the rough construction of the ride front and Act One to the left; you can't see 2 or 3... I may need a better video card for this! That's it for this time! Well here is the tentative name of the ride: FEAR. After this I'm betting the riders will be glad to get off! Another view of the new hallway to the station.
themeparkman25 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I literally cannot believe how much work you have put into this ride and you still can say and I quote, Here's the lift into the first act... Lots of work needs to be done here! Â Great work though, cannot wait to see the finished product!
mcjaco Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 This is seriously insane. Can't wait to see what Acts 2 and 3 look like after you "tweak" them.
terrancew_hod Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Yeah, Yeah... I know I need to update. Â I've worked on it a bit, but it hasn't been anything major to see, just filling in empty spots in Act 1. I'll try to update it soon! Â Terry
traincrossin Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 This is all amazing! I really can't wait to see the entire ride. What custom scenery packs did you use for the ride sign and lights?
terrancew_hod Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 ^Datmaze's (sp) Rock-the-Net and DRP Ambiance is what I used. I like the DRP lights 2.0, but they tend to be a bit hard to replace... and remove. Â Terry
