robbalvey Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 ^ Heck, even the apartment complex we are in right now gets a poor review on Apartmentrankings.com and while I can't stand the leasing center staff, and some neighbors seem to think it's "ok" to move in at 1am, overall they are very nice apartments in a GREAT location in a good area and you can't beat everything we have within walking distance to our place. --Robb
Guest Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Nice TR! I love all of the Florida parks. Well, the 4 that I have been to anyway. Your apartment looks super nice. If you don't mind, would you share how much you pay for rent (or other fees) to live there? I plan on moving to Orlando within the next few years and I've been curious about prices. I actually found an apartment complex not too far off of I-Drive that rents for a pretty decent price. I don't want to post it on here because I'm getting a rate that they don't list on their website, or just give out to anyone. You can IM or PM me if you'd like and we can talk about it. Most of the places down here that are "inexpensive" have this thing called "income restriction". For example... if 2 people were to live in a 2 bedroom apartment, they combined income could NOT exceed $28,000 a year. This ended up being very frustrating because there were some great deals, and my job pays more than that. Just look for that little fine print saying "income restricted" before you go anywhere, unless of course you meet their standards.
mcjaco Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 For example... if 2 people were to live in a 2 bedroom apartment, they combined income could NOT exceed $28,000 a year. I'm sorry, but this just reeks of trouble. If you're surrounding yourself with people that may only be making $28,000 combined, you're bound to have a lot of non desirables.
Guest Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Exactly why I decided to stay away from there...
timberskara Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hey Rob-- I think your place looks great and I'm sure all of your research and apartment hunting tips will help others looking for a place in O-Town in the future. I've heard it's not an easy city to find somewhere nice to call home, but at least it's not impossible. Maybe you should post some positive reviews to combat the bad ones ? It was great seeing all of your adventures thus far...be sure to keep us updated on future endeavors in adjusting to Orlando!
Legendary Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Best of luck to you Rob! Get in touch.. I'll be down there in Febuary.. and I'm looking to move back. North Jersey is too expensive.. I can't wait for a 'possible' job at Xanadu anymore. I know I can find something decent in Orlando...
gatorchomp83 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I'll be sure to post a thorough Photo TR and review of Rob's place after I spend next weekend visiting. That is, if I don't get shot, robbed, raped and murdered in the process!
Guest Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Nice place, hopefully it doesnt get obliverated by a hurricane
freestylenut Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 That's great your living in Orlando and enjoying every bit of it. I'm a constant visitor to Orlando...but not to diss your new home, but I'm close enough to Orlando NOT to have to live there...and that's the truth. The traffic most of the year is HORRIBLE! A girl I used to work with in Tampa was a BIG TIME Disney head (as in collects everything Disney, toys, theme park memorabilia, etc) & she wanted to move to Orlando to be "near the parks"...she was kind of dense...I honestly think that she thought living in Orlando would be 24/7 theme park hoping...I couldn't help but laugh at that. Ya still gotta work (I would hope), ya still gotta DRIVE there, ya still gotta buy groceries, etc....and the parks CAN get old (kinda like how Busch Gardens Africa has become for me somewhat after working there for 4+ years).

I'd say move in here, I got an extra bedroom but the waiting list keep growing...

gatorchomp83 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I'm good on the raping, buddy. I like girls. And I'm not sure you'd get much from robbing me right now lol.
Guest Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I'm good on the raping, buddy. I like girls. And I'm not sure you'd get much from robbing me right now lol. I was joking, don't worry Thanks again for the the positive feedback everyone!
gatorchomp83 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Question is, do they have Slush Puppies by your place? If not, I'll go run to the Shell after work and drink one for you. Maybe I'll even bring one down for your drinking pleasure if you'd like.
Guest Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I haven't seen ONE Slush Puppie in Orlando yet.
gatorchomp83 Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 LIVE UPDATE FROM ROB'S LIVING ROOM: Have not been shot, raped, robbed or murdered yet. For all the doubters, the area is very nice, as is the complex. Very homey. I'll be moving into the second bedroom within a month.
Speeddeamon128 Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Congrats on the move! I love Orlando & can't wait until I move there 3 years from now. Your lucky because you never have an off-season which I am stuck in, but I can't complain since my home park is GADV
