I like it a lot. I think its the best fake guitar controller so far.

Crap. I was just going to get the game, not the guitar......

The one thing that gives GH uber points over RB is that guitar hero has visible hammer ons. Rock band's hammer on's are just slightly smaller notes, while guitar hero's freaking glow

I had no idea they did that. Call me clueless!

I might get GH:WT game this next year (just the game). I need to get the new Rock Band drums first. I might rent it and see how the difficulty goes. I played a demo of GH:Aerosmith and on medium it was hard while I play any song on RB on Medium and can pretty much ace them. I can't get the 5th button part down yet so I just play on Medium. Eric, this was oen reason I had to quit the other day when we were playing online.

DHK forever.

I have rock band 2 and it totally rocks. To me the GH series is just too cartoony and unreal. Plus there are no drum fills in the GH series so you can't add your own drum solos during the songs. The RB drums work on GH though so if you have RB drums and still want GH you don't need to get the drums.

Have you seen the new RB2 hammer-on and pull-off notes ? There more visible than RB1 hammer-on's and pull-off's. Watch someone playing it on Youtube and you will see.

I picked up my Guitar Hero: World Tour for my PS3 set the day it came out and been playing since.

Right now I'm just working my way through easy (even though I've beaten others before I just like to start off easy and work my way up).

I love how you have to play gigs this time compared to just picking a song from a list. The three tool songs in a row almost killed my back though.

I really need to practice drums though. As soon as I unlocked The Kill I went for it in easy and it still took me three tries to even just beat the song. Love 30STM, but their drums are going to kill me on harder difficulties.

I picked up GHWT last night. Just the game, as I can't stomach payng for another guitar.

As a drummer, I'd love to get the drums, but I just don't have the space. And my wife would kill me.

After about thirty minutes of quickplay, I really like the set list idea, and the songs are so eccletic I think it's going to be more fun than GHIII. More tinkering tonight before I make any rash reviews.

I noticed in videos that the drummer in GHWT is not playing the real drum beat... but in RB2, the drummer is.

Interesting.

Does anyone really care? You're not looking at the drummer anyway if you're actually playing.

It makes the game look beter if it does. A more realistic feel.

I agree with KPfreak519 up there.

Does it really matter if the drummer is or isn't playing to the actual beat?

If you're playing the game, you're not watching the drummer. And if you are, kudos to being able to play while not looking at the notes.

Not to mention it might be a bit confusing to try and drum to music that is completely different than what you are hearing, or if you know the song, used to.

Actually in GH you do get your own fills, they are drum solo flls that usualy last quite a while. Now they may not activate your star power but you do get points for what you do in them.

scorehero has a ton of these arguments.

I really can't choose on the fact I don't own World Tour. Rock Band 2 has been amazing to me so far on all 4 instruments. Looking at World Tour, and the comments I've heard on it, I don't know if it is better than Rock Band 2, but I'd like to play it before I actually think that. The music creator looks nice, besides the 3 minute limit that it has.

I don't feel like going back and quoting the person that said "Does anyone really care" about the drummer's graphics in the game.

I personally look at every aspect of a game, from the smallest things (Signs on doors, people in the background, etc.) to what the game is actually about.

Games that have a lot of rich detail do it for me. It doesn't feel like the game has just been pushed out to get people to buy it.

I know GHWT and RB is just a "Fret Board" with notes coming down it and you accurately hitting them. But let's take it beyond that... for visual play, I find RB more appealing.

I've been hearing A LOT of complaints about the sensitivity of the GHWT drum set, and the sturdiness of it. Activision did release a sensitivity patch through PC, but you have to buy an extra cord so you can attach your drum set to your computer to get the sensitivity better. Those that have Linux/Apple are SOL right now.

The new RB2 Drum set is awesome. Big improvement from the original. The drums are quieter, are more responsive, the bass pedal is metal now so it won't snap, and the framework of the set is much sturdier.

I have already downloaded and put the patch in for my drums. For the first week of play my Red and Orange Pads were sh!t. They could hardly sense anything, but after I raised the sensitivity they work fine. So if you really do hate the sensitivity of your drums I highly recommend downloading the patch(free of charge) and the MIDI-USB cable(free with warrenty). Patch found on this page and MIDI Cable located here, just fill out form.

Is the new RB2 drum set that comes with the pack the one that has the symbols that you can attach to it? I wanna hear how good those are.

The new RB2 drums has expansion ports for symbols, also heard it has double bass pedal option. Personally, I would just rather spend 600 for the ion drum rocker. 300 for the base game part and 300 for the electronic drum module and have both a game drum set and a real one.

I always thought that GH: WT would be better, but after owning both, I feel that Rock Band 2 is better.

Here's a concept in opinions. Post reasons why.

Posted

Well, originally, I always like Guitar Hero better than Rock Band, making me think I would like GH:WT better. However, I started playing Rock Band more and more and got used to it. I also got Rock Band 2 before GH:WT, so I also grew accustomed to playing that. After switching back to Guitar Hero, it just felt a little awkward. I personally think that the custom song feature isn't all that it was made out to be, and I think that the whole tour concept feels a little odd for GH. Over time, my opinions might change, but as for now, I feel that Rock Band is better.

See, was that so hard to write?

I'm finding GHWT is oddly inaccurate on hitting notes. Maybe it's just me but I'm missing notes, I'm clearly hitting correctly.

Posted

^ It's all about precision. Depending on your timing etc. But if you feel you're hitting the notes then there may be something wrong with your controller, I don't know. What difficulty are you playing on?
