thrillerman1
This might be an exclusive first on TPR - DeSoto Caverns Family Fun Park in Alabama...which brings me to wonder has a roller coaster ever been built in a natural cave or cavern? cfc
This might be an exclusive first on TPR - DeSoto Caverns Family Fun Park in Alabama...which brings me to wonder has a roller coaster ever been built in a natural cave or cavern? Â I doubt you could get away with building a coaster in a natural cavern, although it's an intriguing idea. It would probably depend on the nature of the cave. Those with impressive limestone formations probably couldn't stand up to the vibrations caused by an operating roller coaster inside.
thrillerman1
You're probably right Chuck, although I can imagine outside the US there may be or might have been one over the years. I thought I recently heard about a zipline in a cave but can't remember where it's located.
thrillerman1
This week's spotlight is on Sea World's Discovery Cove from back in 2010...
thrillerman1
If you're into Disney, then you will probably enjoy today's kick-off of several weeks (months, years?) worth of Disney park nostalgia. Â First up is DCA with postcards and brochure from my visit in 2006 before the recent extreme makeover.
thrillerman1
I still would like to visit this park one day, but here's Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2005:
thrillerman1
Here is part 2 of DAK - this time from 2006 compliments of thecoasterkid. Thank you Shawn! thrillerman1
This week I have some Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon material from 2005 for your viewing pleasure. I honestly don't see a lot of trip reports from either of these water parks and have never visited them myself. They sure do look fun! Â Oh and I forgot to mention previously that I have extra Disney's California Adventure brochures up for grabs, so PM me if interested.
cfc
Blizzard Beach is great, but I have yet to visit Typhoon Lagoon.
thrillerman1
Nice Chuck. I feel like I would pick Blizzard Beach over TL if given the choice...the theme definitely appeals to me more. I have not heard, but is there any Frozen tie-in at Blizzard Beach?
cfc
^It wouldn't surprise me if Olaf turned up at Blizzard Beach. It would be perfect for him. Â I'd like to try the water coasters at Typhoon Lagoon some day, even if they are a bit "old school" compared to Mammoth and Wildebeest at Holiday World. Meteornotes
I would be stunned if they didn't eventually add some sort of Frozen stuff to Blizzard Beach. Â dt
thrillerman1
^ & ^^ Yeah it's actually a bit surprising that we've not heard of a significant Olaf appearance here to my knowledge. It does seem like a perfect pairing. Maybe someone can fill us in if they've seen any Frozen tie-ins at Blizzard Beach.
cfc
An Olaf at Blizzard Beach commercial could be hilarious.

thrillerman1
^ Cool card! I knew of the triple tower called Scream at Fiesta Texas, but not the SFNE version. The photo below is not from a postcard, but one of those pictorial foldout things meant to me mailed like a postcard. To this day I never see a basic jack'o'lantern without thinking of this iconic scene of my childhood.  ^ Thanks Larry! I can't believe it's been 11 years since AstroWorld closed this weekend. I love this AstroWorld postcard and it's worth a repost! Happy Halloween! http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=652615#652615 Edited October 29, 2016 by thrillerman1
Nrthwnd
^ Hey Mark, how ya been? Â I'm so glad I got to Astroworld back when the stand up coaster (another "Batman" name?) was new. Columbus Day Weekend, 1992. I was at a convention hotel that was a convenient ten minute walk (or so) to the front gate. It was also there that I rode my first suspended cars coaster. XLR8. Just loved it. Â And here's the very latest POSTCARD I got, on my recent rip to California and West Coast Bash. In fact, it's the ONLY postcard I got on my trip. By default, actually... Â The intent was to get myself a pin with "Magic Mountain" on it. In the one main Souvenirs Shop, near the main entrance... nothing to be found. Except this. Which comes with a postcard. All hermetically sealed in the best possible....uh...packaging. Â The print is so light on the back, I can only make it out with my glasses on. But it reads: Â SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAINA 262-acre theme park located in Valencia, CA. It opened May 30,1971. With 19 roller coasters, Six Flags Magic Mountain holds the world record for most roller coasters in an amusement park. Pin and Postcard. The perfect souvenirs match! (o; The back stuff. Is this true, Cedar Point?
Shrek1304
California's Great America is a park many thought was a goner just a few years ago, but it seems to be on the rebound now. I like that CGA still operates their cable car attraction, one of the few left in the US after so many were removed. The Paramount days...by the way I have a few extras of these so pm me if interested. Great map of great America you have. Can I have one like yours?
