PKI Jizzman Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hey TPR, this is the one and only PKI ManJZ. I had the opportunity to check out the AVP tonight and had an absolute blast. I was up at this ‘Telestar’ tent and was right next to the ‘VIP Lounge’ where special people like the Olympians and Coach Marvin get to go. Well, while they didn’t have any barricades up to keep us out, I got to get a few pics with Kerri Walsh. Now, after that nearly everyone else that came up to her to ask for something; her response was “I’ll do that tomorrow” and I heard her say to one of the guys, “but take as many pictures of my @$$ as you want” Sooo….I took full advantage of that! Too tired for good captions right now... Oh crap! I forgot to re-size them....here's a few for now. Me and my friend....we're 5'8" HOLY FREAKING SMASH! These olympians were firing off these little mini volleyballs...it was funny. Team Walsh/Trainer....niiiice All the olympians got keys to the city of Mason!
PoisonedPirate Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I never understood why Beach Volleyball players wear bikinis and yet normal Volleyball players where proper kit. What advantage does the bikini have?
trcg721 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I never understood why Beach Volleyball players wear bikinis and yet normal Volleyball players where proper kit. What advantage does the bikini have?I think it has to do with the sand. I dont think its fun havind sand inside a shirt.
PoisonedPirate Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Ahh thank you for that! I just thought it was an excuse to get more men to watch the sport lol!
kraken613 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I just saw their 112 game winning streak just ended!
PKI Jizzman Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 I forget what the place is called...but it's the tennis place across from KI! What? Crocs? Where? The girls are almost ready for the first match! In case your wife isn't as good as looking as the players..... 'Hi, I'm drunk...' At this time, they started introducing the Olympians. 'Who invited you guys?' Can't think of his name. Keanu Reeves? D-House doing some dance. Don't you hate awkward hugs? Have you had any Red Bull? I've gotta go get some Red Bull....I'm going to find some more Red Bull. Apperently he became a sensai over in Beijeing. Kerrriiiiiii Walsh! Do you have any Red Bull?! Somebody is excited! Theme park break!
mcjaco Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I think it has to do with the sand. I dont think its fun havind sand inside a shirt. Because having sand in a bikini is sooo much more comfortable?
Moose Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Also, if it were a sand in the shirt/shorts, then why aren't the guys in speedos?
cfc Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 ^Let's face it--the game attire is meant to get guys to watch. Shocking, I know.
BeemerBoy Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I never understood why Beach Volleyball players wear bikinis and yet normal Volleyball players where proper kit. What advantage does the bikini have? Actually, you kind of answered your own question in a way. Beach Volleyball players wear bikinis/boardshorts because.............the game started on the beach, and is still played in the sand wherever an event is held. If you wanted to really get nitpicky, indoor players wear more clothing due to the fact that sliding on a hard floor would be a bit more painful in a bikini, or sans shirt. JZ, nice report. I played beach, and indoor for years (and occasionally against some of the lower level pros from the early 90's), so it's nice to see the AVP get some love. Any idea if George Roumain played in this event?
ginzo Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I played beach, and indoor for years (and occasionally against some of the lower level pros from the early 90's), so it's nice to see the AVP get some love. Did you wear a bikini?
BeemerBoy Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I preferred the one-piece. I felt it flattered my hips more.
mcjaco Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 ^ I believe Paul can vouch for that. He prefers one piece suits too.
jamesdillaman Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 To quote Walsh in an NPR All Things Considered interview: "We wear the bikini's because it's the most comfortable and restricts our movement the least. The rules state you can wear a one piece if you want, but almost nobody does because the bikini's are just better. I gurantee you it's function and not just about fashion, as many people wrongly believe." -James Dillaman
