^Believe me, the Invertigo crew members are suffering too. We're getting sent to other rides in the park that need a hand. It's particularly annoying when I'm sent to a ride with no shade (Survivor, I'm looking at you).

I will be happy when the ride is back up. I'm sure the guests will be happy as well. They have been disappointed since it is a major coaster that isn't open.

I passed by the park on the highway yesterday and thought I could see people working on DropTower, has this been down too?

Posted

Sunday only half of the tower was functional. 2 elevators were stuck and 1 appeared to be missing...unless it was just the shell missing...but I couldn't see it. With half the tower working, it created a good 15 minute wait which I wasn't quite up for...Later that night, I was getting some shots of Drop Zone in and then noticed "Hey, there's no line!" and then notice a typical Cedar Fair trash can sitting in an abmormal spot...then I realized "Hey, there's no line because it broke down!"

Oh noes!

Well since the park's closed right now, perhaps mechanics will be working on the ride. I don't know anything about the maintainence department, so I still don't know what day the ride will open up again. Hopefully soon, but you know what they say, "Better safe than sorry."

Isn't the park open till 10pm?

Nope, that was for summer vacation only. Last week, on weekdays the park was open till 6, Saturday: 10, and Sunday: 9. Now, for Labor Day weekend, Sat and Sun are open till 10 with fireworks both days, Mon until 8. After Labor Day Monday, weekday operation ceases.

^Yeah, I just got home from closing the park. I was working at Psycho Mouse and Centrifuge the last few hours. I noticed we were pretty crowded today. It was good to see the park doing well.

So right now, I don't know what's going on with Invertigo. It is still down, and I'm still not sure when it is going to open. Just hang in there. Hopefully it will open in time for Haunt.

I figure that now that the park's not open daily, whatever work needs to be done with Invertigo can probably be done in a more peaceful manner...if they already have the needed components that may need replacing. Otherwise, for now, I'll be riding my No Limits version of Invertigo.

I'm not supposed to say what happened, I've been trained to say, "the ride was experiencing technical difficulties." So politically correct, huh?

That doesn't make me feel safe.

It's just easier to say that. Also, you can get into a legal situation if an employee says what's wrong and estimates how long it will be down...if they are wrong and that guest is a jerk then the situation could get out of hand.

At California Screamin I usually don't say what's going on unless I know what happened. I like to assure guests that nothing unsafe happened, that we are working on it, but because I'm not a mechanic I can not estimate how long we will be down. It helps the guest understand the situation.

No, you're supposed to say "Tomatoes"...lol

I guess management doesn't want the general public to know what exactly went wrong with the ride or become nerds by knowing the ride's components. Atleast it's running now.

^That's exactly why we're not supposed to say. But yeah, the ride is still safe, and you may notice that there are some new parts on the train. However, it's still Vekoma, and has headbanging.

Invertigo is one of the smoothest Vekoma's I've ever been on. Kong and Boomerang at SFDK were 10x worse. Boomerang at Knott's was also really bad. Deja Vu at SFMM was actually really smooth when I went this summer.
